Bits and pieces 1 ....
Some days, you just can't make a nickel.
Pioneer football coach Ramon Juarez, whose season has been frought with injuries to key players, said Tuesday that quarterback Ronnie Palacios will not return to the field again this season, effectively ending his high school football career.
Palacios, the Del Rio League MVP a year ago and in many circles, described this season as arguably the league's best quarterback, has been trying to rehab from a bulging disc in his back.
It was thought he would be able to return to the field after a period of rest and inactivity, but doctors finally determined that should Palacios receive another blow to the area, he risked having the bulge move out more and while not life threatening, it could have negative after effects later in life.
Health willing, Palacios plans to play baseball, his first choice between the two sports, for the Titans this spring.
Questions of the day: Where will St. Paul Principal Ms. Lori Barr sit for Friday's Loyola-St. Paul football game? And which team will she root for?
The answers may not be as simple as you think. And then again, they might be no brainers.
Ms. Barr's son is Anthony Barr, Loyola's 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior running back who reportedly has already received offers from Notre Dame, Sanford, UCLA and USC.
One report gently reminds that Ms. Barr "is St. Paul's principal, and she will most likely be in her usual spot in the bleachers, probably somewhere around the 25-yard line."
If so, good for her. But which side will her heart be on?
Wide receiver Dont'e Webb has enrolled at West Covina High School. This is brought up again only to explain that he did not transfer because he had been "expelled from St. Paul due to behaviorial infractions." His transfer had nothing to do with football, it was his idea and it was done for personal reasons.
Enough said.

Best of luck to Palacios! If the big picture in life doesn’t include football so be it as your health should always be the main concern.
To bad to hear that Ronnie Palacios is out. What great athlete and tough competitor. I will miss seeing you out there competing against our boys. You were always a threat to do something great for your team. God bless, and best wishes in all that you do.
Ronnie is indeed a talent. I also coached him in baseball and he's a natural centerfielder. Unfortunately, as Pioneer's best player, they always have him play short or pitch, which are not his positions.
Bulging or herniated discs can be an acute problem for a long period of time, and playing baseball with a bad disc is just as difficult, because of the intense rotation of the baseball swing, throwing, etc. Unfortuanately, this rotation does not help (it hurts) a bulging disc and related back muscle strain you're trying to heal up. Hoping Ronnie gets back feeling healthy for baseball season. The kid's a hitter and an athlete. Possible college outfielder.
"Loyola rolls tomorrow"
O RLY?
We heard you the first time...
and I'm sure no one wants you spreading around their business...
Donte left SP because he is going to be a father....again.
Loyola rolls big tomorrow.
Thats to bad for Palacios, he was the best QB in the area coming into the season. Well lets see if Pioneer could compete in league without him.
elrancho
its Ronnie not Randy Palacios, Randy is his brother who graduated last year
Its a shame to hear that Ronnie won't be playing this year, it must be tough on him not playing, he started all of the games his sophmore and junior year and to not play one snap this year must be hard. He's a good person and a good athlete, I wish him the best
I know Ronnie Palacios since he was young. I had coached him in baseball and I know how much he loves to compete and how much it hurts him not to be on the field. He is a good young man, and i wish him the best and I know he'll be ready for baseball. Keep working hard kid.
That is a shame to hear about Palacios. He is a good player who will be deaply missed. Hopefully he will be able to recover for the baseball and have a successful season. He is a good player and a nice person, I wish him the best.
Wow it truly is a shame to hear that about Randy Palacios. Its dissapointing to see that some talented kids in this league are not getting to show their stuff this season, Good Luck to Palacios in baseball...
Murray,
Dont'e never played a down at RB; he was a reciever at SP. Second, how does his enrollment at West Covina discredit the fact that he was expelled from SP?
Again, enough said.
