California's ground game takes a hit
When California plays visiting Pioneer tonight, the Condors will be without running back Matt Urquiza. Coach Jim Arnold said the standout, two-way senior may have suffered a broken ankle in last week's victory over El Rancho, and while the doctor's final evaluation of the injury won't be made until Today or Friday, Arnold said in any case, Urquiza won't be playing against Pioneer. "It really hurts us because he's a standout on both sides of the ball for us."
Arnold said junior Dudley Gamino, who was impressive with an 84-yard scoring sprint against El Rancho, will replace Urquiza,
Pioneer coach Ramon Juarez said that junior quarterback Steven Del Villar has been practicing on a still-sore ankle but will be ready tonight.

Matt is not the type of player that likes to be taken out. He is a tough SOB & wants to be out there hitting. Was it unfortunate that he was injured in the blowout? Absolutely, but don't play afraid of what might happen Cal. Step it up tonight, no excuses.
Matt Urquizas injury is very unfortunate- he got hurt late in the 3rd QTR of a 38-0 blow out lead- i wish he had been pulled out of the game earlier. I really hope he can be back for the SANTA FE GAME- CALHI needs him back if they are to beat SF- this could be a devastating injury if hes out for awhile with SF and LS coming up on the schedule.
Dudley Gamino and Matt Uquiza...two pico kids! What a shame...

Why is the Cal - Pioneer game not on the scoreboard?
Roger by now you may have realized that the game is tomorrow night, not tonight..
and i thinks its ironic that over at South Hills (also in the Southeast div.) their star linebacker got injured and wont be ready until perhaps the second round of the playoffs..i wonder how cal will handle this situation; they probably wont struggle against Pioneer, but if urquiza is not back for santa fe next week, its gonna be tough for cal to beat them..lets hope for the best
good luck to both team tomorrow night..LETS GO CAL!!
