Did Swordsmen find a way to step up or did Knights shut it down in scoreless second half as St. Paul's rugged preleague schedule finally comes to an end.
California 58, Pioneer 13
Condors not flashy, just steady as their all-around game continues to make them look like legitimate title contenders.
Montebello 41, Alhambra 34

Cerritos Valley Christian 38, Whittier Christian 21
Heralds QB Anderson 17 for 24 for 251 yards, three touchdowns -- off the bench - but effort is wasted when defense can't keep Crusaders out of the end zone.

Game of the Week for sssurrrree...
Murray I think I speak for everyone when I say that Im interested in who you think will be victorious in the Cal vs. Santa Fe game
My prediction...
Cal 27 Santa Fe 17
Indian Joe every school must have one and if they don’t go out and recruit one. Thanks for the comment it’s always welcome.
cal will beat sf by atleast 21 pts
I have never put a blog on this page so excuse me if my spelling and grammer is bad, but I am not an english major, I am just an avid sports fan that has a son that plays high school football at Santa Fe.
I would just like to say that the El Rancho vs. Santa Fe game was a very close game, too close! I would like to comment on how much heart the Ranch played with. I had told my son not to pay too much attention to the past scores for El Rancho. Even though alot of the devoted Blue Crew seem to be loosing faith in their football team I feel that they came out and really put it to our boys. Had it not been for the vicious hit from Andrew Jackson to the Ranches' quarterback that caused a fumble late in the fourth quarter who knows what the outcome may have been.
I would like to send my props out to the whole El Rancho football team. You have no reasons to hang your heads. You guys keep on playing with the heart and intensity you did this week and good things are bound to happen, espesially the offensive line (#61,Matt Hrenandez)that oppened up those holes for their great running backs.
One last thing, El Rancho coaches espesially the o-line coach, don't be so hard on your boys they are doing great and they are mostly juniors. If you keep treating them the way you do you will have no returning linemen next year.......Go Chiefs!
I
Why can't you St. Paul people get it? You are able to recruit & pay (allegedly) for your atheletes, then you come on here and TRY to flex your muscles about how big & bad you are. It's like a senior telling a freshman how come you don't want to fight. Why is it so hard for you to fiqure out. Stick with all you step brothers (MD, Servite, Amat, Crespi, ND) & talk your trash to them. You don't because you can't.
HS Football Fan. Don't go voodooing us with your pick. Santa Fe will be ready Condors, bring it!
Roger, can't you put a filter on this blog in order to actually have a somewhat real time discussion. The delay is brutal.
Hate us or love us, you are all talking about us. Here it is the week of what is supposedly a big game between Santa Fe and Cal Hi and everyone is obsessed with St. Paul. Shouldn't you all be worrying about your teams instead of St. Paul?
Say what you want about us...win or lose....doesn't matter what the sport is....we are in your heads.
St. Paul, you wouldn't beat Santa Fe, La Serna or Cal. It is what it is...you are not a very good team.
All of this bashing of St. Paul on this thread and lots of others so far this season is really stupid. So they are not quite at the level of the Pac 5 or some other strong leagues; It would be like bashing the AA baseball team in town because they are not as strong as the AAA team.
St. Paul is probably the strongest team in the area, including good teams SF, Cal, LH, and LS. Their parents pay for their kids' educations on top of what we all pay in taxes. Their sports teams, in most sports, are competitive. Their baseball team will be a power this year and next. They have a proud tradition, even if not as illustrious as some of their catholic school cousins. St. Paul grads should be proud, as should every kid/adult of his school. Why all the mocking and ridicule?
Haters who troll blogs just to bash programs, coaches or kids are just lame, make their own schools look bad, and just need to get a life.
Cal Vs. Santa Fe = Game of the Week.
Two very good teams.
prediction Cal 28-14
I’ve been waiting to hear from you English Quiz you must now be the heir apparent of Stephen Hawking since he has stepped down, Europe is a jump. Outside this blog endeavor and football I’m sure you’ll continue advancing the studies on theoretical physicist and general relativity, gravity and quantum theory. Because choosing to play with the Apaches on weekends can be distracting, but you can call yourself Mr. Semi Pro. It’s going to be an agonizing choice, a little hint go with the one that pays!!!!Lol.
Rebuilding is one thing, getting demolished is something totally different. I know the JV is horrible, so where is this supposed talent coming from. These teams will beat you 9.5 out of 10 times. You guys are a small fish, you just don't know it yet.
Big Game this week in the Del Rio League- Cal vs. SF. I guess nobody cares who they played in the preseason now. Is Urqiza playing? Whittier and Cal are very similar. They both can control the clock with a good running back, Enriquez. If SF had trouble with Whittier then this game will be a good one and will come down to turnovers and field position. Good luck to both teams.
So getting killed by St. John Bosco and ND is better than beating other teams and getting ready for the playoffs? What did you learn by loosing 33-0 and 35-0 at halftime other than you couldn't play with those teams? When you get killed, like you have this year, you always play the poor small school card. If your talent was down because of graduation, or players who are no longer eligible who could not graduate, why did you schedule these teams? The playoffs are comming. Get healthy and go as far as you can. Your tough schedule agruement is getting tiring after watching your team get destroyed each week. When your seniors look back at this year, I guess they can have the fond memories of saying that they got killed by Servite,SJB and ND. SP had a great year last year be glad for that.
Pioneer had the same idea and now they are beat up and will not make the playoffs. It doesn't make sense.
Man I forgot how many Pac 5 teams Santa Fe has played this year..or even within the last 10 years. Must've slipped my mind.
The Mission league is mandated to play two Serra League teams every year. In other words, St. Paul has to either play Amat, Crespi, Notre Dame, or Loyola. St. Paul doesn't choose to play these teams, they simply have to. And if they weren't mandated to do so, they probably would because they're up for challenges, unlike Santa Fe. In order to be the best, you have to beat the best.
Santa Fe's schedule is SO tough! Geez, Downey and Littlerock and watch out, Bell Gardens will probably win CIF and have high chances of competing for a State Bowl Game. And if you aren't smart enough, this is my attempt of being sarcastic.
Big Pig, how many times have you been told to look at Santa Fe's Mickey Mouse schedule and the teams you play? Your league is sorry and the teams you play are nowhere near the caliber St. Paul and their opponents are at.
At least we all know you have enough time at analyzing and adding up the scores for St. Paul. Do yourself a favor and add up how many CIF titles Santa Fe has, yeah?
Love or hate St. Paul, it's still an obsession. You know an awful lot about a school you hate. Why don't you go out and worry about the other schools, the ones you should be worried about like Cal and La Serna.
You have a school population somewhere in the thousands. St. Paul is lucky to have 700 students at their school. You go out and play the state's best teams. If St. Paul has the ganas to do it, why don't you guys?
Oops, I meant results were totally expected.
Next 2 years will be very good for us even though we have St. John Bosco, Crespi and Amat on our schedule for next year. All top 25 teams this year. How many top 25 teams do any of the DRL teams have on their schedules? That is what I thought - ZERO.
La Habra is the only other school in the area with balls enough to play up.
As far as SP playing the likes of Pioneer, Cantwell and El Rancho last year....those teams requested those games because they wanted to upgrade their schedules and because of the local interest because people want to see St. Paul play.
Don't kid yourself they also do it for the money. We bring 2,000 plus to road games. That translates to a lot of money for these programs. How many fans do your teams bring?
It’s funny how all you haters can put us down year after year. I would think you would be more worried about what’s going on with your own football teams. I don’t see anyone from our area winning a division title except SPHS. Just like Anonymous said this is our off year. I believe the next two years will be big for the program. We have a couple of outstanding players that can really catapult us to another division title….The tradition continues….
On Blue and Big Pig:
Go ahead and take your shots. Enjoy it while you can.
As this was a rebuilding year for us these results are totally unexpected. We are a junior and sophomore laden team playing senior heavy teams.
We aren't playing just any D1 teams but the cream of the crop. 2 of the teams we played have a legitimate shot of winning the PAC 5.
Not that we are making any excuses but we played without 5 starters against ND who was lead by one of the top QB's in the state.
Yes, we will take our lumps but until your teams grow a set and decide to play some real teams in the preseason then I'll give your comments some credibility.
SP better go find some transfers. The future is not very bright. No size or speed. You guys were embarrassed by all the Pac 5 teams you had played. I think you guys help recruit for the other schools. You show SP parents what real D1 schools are supposed to look and act like.
St Paul 37 - Pac-5 155!!! Great job but then again you did manage to beat up on Cantwell and Pioneer. How did it feel being the likes of those 2 teams to the Pac-5?????
Yo, anonym:ous Correct score was 31-14.
Did you get the correct socre for the La Serna vs. Whittier HS game?
