La Habra probably will not schedule St. Paul.Thier focus is on playing teams in Orange County and challenging programs. They would most likely want to schedule Servite before they schedule St. Paul.

Servite vs La Habra that would bring the community out to see and that would be a competetive game..unlike Servite vs St. Paul.

I find it VERY hard to believe that you honestly think Cal would roll St. Paul. If anything, it could go the other way. Cal would have to play the game of their life with this years team in order to beat them. If your intent was to stir things up with their fanbase that's fine but, your comments are WAY offbase.

SP, you wonder why DRL schools don't schedule you. Did you refuse to exchange tapes with La Mirada when you played them? What could you possibly be afraid off? You just have to have the edge even against inferior competition, then you recruit any talent that you see on the field. This is an example why nobody wants you on their schedule.

In reference to your post about Alemany playing in the same division as West Torrance and Dominguez I'd like to point out that those teams are also part of the Western Division as is the entire Mission League. Alemany did play in that division last year and also this year as did St. Paul.

West Torrance is part of the Bay League and Dominquez is part of the San Gabriel.

For example last year we beat Gahr in the semis who are in the same league as Dominquez and we beat Redondo earlier in the year and Redondo is in the same league as West Torrance. Dominquez played Palmdale in the semis as well and lost. St. Paul beat Palmdale for the championship.

So how can we play down a division in the playoffs? If your league is in the Western Division you go to the Western Division playoffs, Southwest Division leagues go to Southwest Division playoffs and so on. You can't drop down a division for playoffs.

Although I don't think you understand this simple explanation because you are A FRICKIN IDIOT!

Football Fan: It seems like YOU are the one that doesn't know football. St. Paul, Alemany, and the rest of the Mission League play in the Western Division (formerly Division 3). That means we play teams like Dominguez, West Torrance, Culver City, Gahr, and Palmdale in the playoffs.
The reason we didn't play Dominguez or West Torrance last year is because they failed to advance far enough to face us. If Dominguez had beaten Palmdale in last year's semi-final game, we would have played them instead, but they didn't. And in 2006, we faced West Torrance in the semis.
So what I'm trying to say is that just because we don't play certain teams in the playoffs each and every year doesnt mean we play in different divions or somehow "drop divisions" as you said. I've never heard anything like that.

CAL: First off, most of our players (starter or not) could go to any of the other area schools and start or at least see a considerable amount of playing time. I won't call out any kids' names, but there are examples all over, including Cal High.
Second off, my posts had nothing to do with comparing private schools and public schools or demeaning public schools in any way, shape, or form. I think public schools, generally, will always be competitive with any other school.
My posts were concerning a matchup between St. Paul and any of the area teams. Just because Poly and Tesoro are public schools doesn't mean you can compare Cal High and your success to the successes of theirs. There is a reason why they play in Division 1 while you are stuck in Division 9.

And I’ve seen St Paul play no talent, not on the line, not on either side. Those skill players are recruits one and done. Those skill players aren’t that skilled and don’t go to the next level oops Cerritos my bad. The Pac-5 division has two public schools in the finals Poly & Tesoro and all down the division finals are mostly 99% public schools. We (Cal Hi) would give SP a hurt that they may not recover from. And this is like I say it. Dreaming is for parochial schools the pie in the ski.

Just wanted to stop by and drop some knowledge.. I am a recent St. Paul player and I have frequented this blog for the past few years. There are things I have read, whether it be about myself, the school, or the program, that have made me want to smash my keyboard.

After reading about the hundreth post about ANY of the Area teams "pounding" or "steam-rolling" St. Paul, I thought I would set the record straight. Not ONE of you could hang with SP. Not one. Yes, that includes you, La Habra. I've seen all the others play and I've laughed at the quality of football being played. I find it humorous that you SERIOUSLY think there is a chance of competing.

There were times when I agreed 100% with things being said about the program and the coaches. And yes, there are some things that need to be changed--soon. But no matter how much I have disagreed with certain aspects of the program, I cannot lie and say Cal Hi, La Serna, Santa Fe, La Habra, El Rancho (need I go on?) would stand a chance. St. Paul plays a different brand of ball. Okay, we lose to Pac-5 teams. How many have you scheduled? How many times have you played Notre Dame? Crespi? Servite? The tough teams we schedule early on prepare us for the late season. Unfortunately, SP found themselves at home during Week 11. Can't say much about that other than the Mission League is a rough group.

I guess I felt I needed to get this off my chest and let you guys know from a recent player's prospective. Take it or leave it. Oh, and Football Fan.. Amat and Crespi are not in the Mission League. SP schedules them for preseason. And we do not "drop divisions" for playoffs. We play Western Division teams just like Chaminade, Alemany, and St. Francis. So nice try.

And the one about dropping down in division playoff was killer, when their recruits (St Paul) thought they would battle the tough programs at the end. But ended losing the chance to play for their own communities and not always be that hometown hero for those years they would of played what a lost,….. with the neighbors saying what courage and ability the talk of the town for years, hum nothing like the town you grew up in. because if you have the talent to play at the next level it does not I repeat does not matter what school you go too, they (scouts) will find you that’s their job. You just threw out what little credibility you might of had with your comment above. First of all St. Paul did not drop down a division for the playoffs. They are part of the Western Division, formerly known as Division III. Just because you play teams in divisions above you does not mean you drop a division. Second, Chaminade, Alemany and St. Francis AND St. Paul comprise the Mission League. The Mission League is part of the Western Division. Football playoffs don't work like some of the other sports do.

As far as scheduling La Habra, St. Paul has made the offer TO local schools so why would they back out if La Habra accepted. SP would love to play LH because of their success and because of the local interest. A game like that would probably require them to move the game to a bigger stadium like Cerritos.

So, if you are going to rip on St. Paul at least know what the hell you are talking about before exposing yourself as the idiot you are.

St. Paul always talks how great they are, La Habra would flat out embarrass them this year. And with the schedule opening next year I really, really, hope that they pencil in La Habra. But they probably will give some excuse because they know that they would lose all creditability getting beat by a public area team.
And yeah St. Paul would probably make the playoffs if they were in the DRL league division (D7) but they wouldn't beat Charter Oak in the finals anyway.

As for Coach Mo, he has an 8th grade son coming to La Habra next year. Hopefully, we'll be okay the next 4 years. However, I do agree he is a great coach and has turned some heads, specifically gaining respect from Orange County programs. In the end, you can't blame a man that providing for a family to be open to more lucrative compensation.

What are you trying to say & who is barber? If you are referring to Cal Hi's staff, I thing you may be high. 19-5 for the current staff, 1 DRL championship, 1 Semi-final & both years in the playoffs. I had a couple of chances to see them this year and from what I saw, they did a good job with the talent they had. Without a QB that could throw, they were still able to put points up & the defense was pretty solid except for the La Serna game. Who is Alec Stern? I'm aware of La Carra, but what importance do they have exactly?

Barber needs help bad. Not only is he bad, but his entire coaching staff has got to go. Talent year in and year out. This guy does not bring the best out in nobody. Only Murray. Fire the guy. Let a real coach take over.

One of the hallmarks for a true high-quality program is consistency from year to year. This definitely describes La Habra High School, as the program has won or shared 5 of the last 6 Freeway League titles (they took 2nd in the lone "off" year). Even more impressive is that they have advanced to at least the semifinals of their respective Southern Section playoff division (Southeast or D-IX) in each of the last 6 years, winning 3 titles, including last year. There's not much sign of letting up, as 10 starters return and the incoming JV team finished 9-0 last year. Ordinarily, not returning a starting QB or RB would cause concern, but the track record for the Highlanders is undeniable (a drop off for them may be only a semifinal appearance in '08). Incidentally, their new QB, Randall Nygren, was an All-Southeast Division selection last year at safety. Partially due to the success of the La Habra program, the Freeway League has been moved up to the Southwest Division. That success has not gone unnoticed, as Pac-5 powers Los Alamitos and San Clemente have found their way onto the Highlanders' non-league schedule.

its too bad all that talent at Santa Fe gets wasted every year... just ask David Flores, who eventually saw the light and decided he wanted more than a deep run... St. Paul gets the best out of every player and puts them in position to succeed... I know... this year was obviously not the case but those kids were ready to play every friday night... but there's only so much you could do with the student athletes they had...

Although it would pain me to see La Habra win again... I still would like to wish them luck, both on the field and in retaining their head coach, who looks very attractive to some top high school programs in southern california...

come on Roger I at least need an answer as to what it takes to be a coach and or keep a high school coaching job. a coach should teach respect to his players .he should be able to get the best out of players (110 %) at all times. not able to adjust players at half time means that coach and or assistants are poor game analysts.they should trouble shoot and make the necessary changes.but that never seems to happen at Cal/barberville.if its broke its time to fix it.dont care to win every year but kets at least be respectable . how about ex players steven la carra and alec stern who can relate and push all the necessary buttons. if your aggree that barber must go please email your answer I think that may work.

Just because you got rolled does not mean everyone else would get rolled by SP. Speak for yourself and your team. I think that LH, Cal, SF and LS would all show and play a competitive game against SP. I would for sure put my money on LH to absolutely dominate SP. And the other DRL would for make for an exciting game and at least a close one and would probably win, unlike your showing in 2007.

SP went through a rebuilding year and their record/results showed that. Could they beat La Habra this year? Probably not, but they would of beat every team in the DRL this year with out question.

Quit worrying about SP and worry about your own teams. Worry why La Serna plays a cupcake schedule every year and isn't prepared for the playoffs. Worry why Santa Fe and Cal just can't quite get over the hump and get eliminated early every year (or at least it seems like it). Worry why Whittier, ER and Pioneer are always at the bottom looking up.

The local area has one team left in the hunt (La Habra)....get out there and support them!

If it happens our train will most definitely steam roll you and your sorry no playoff team. La Serna your football program is far ahead of St Paul Anonymous, with his advice you wouldn't have made the playoffs. He has drank too much of the SP koolaid. He's trapped in their strong box and can't see the forest because of the trees.

If you are going to get blown out...do it during the preseason and not the playoffs.

Your AD and Coach should take a hard look at your schedule for the next few years and upgrade. These cupcake preseason schedules are not preparing you for the playoffs.

If St Paul is so good at football then why did they get their teeth kicked in again this year by the “cream of the crop” (as you put it) of the PAC5? And correct me if I’m wrong or not but didn’t Santa Fe beat 2 of the teams in your very own division that ended up making the playoffs while SP did not???? And now you’re in here practically begging to play local teams that are 3 and 4 divisions lower then St Paul.

And as for getting the best players in the area to enroll at your school goes, since when is Mayfair in our area? And exactly what did these enrollees do for SP this year?

Well, at least you finally have a coach that matches your school since they both seem to have “short mans syndrome”. Which the urban online dictionary describes as: An angry male of below average height who feels it necessary to act out in an attempt to gain respect and recognition from others and compensate for his abnormally short stature.

Where was St.Paul? They were getting all the best players in the area to enroll there. Face it your school stinks at sports. Which is why the cream of the crop heads to the top. the top being St. Paul. You're so good at football schedule St. Paul for next year. No excuses....get off your tush, write a letter, get all the parents to head to your AD and demand they schedule the best in the area. All I will say; Careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

Rowland knocked La Serna down, and they tried to get up...but just kept turning the ball over. Looked like La Serna didn't know how to respond when they were down...Kids got rattled and made more mistakes. They had good ball players, lacked leadership on the sidelines when it mattered...

There’s a rush at St Paul but it’s headed out, check the enrollment. You’ll be surprise anonymous. Parents with any concern for their kids think about education not football. SP needs adaptability to change with our changing world.
