Schurr win over Montebello followed by brawl

| | Comments (24) |

Spokespersons from Montebello and Schurr High Schools contacted Monday would not discuss the brawl that took place following Friday's Almont League football game
between the two schools. Schurr won the game, 28-18. The fracas began at the end
of the postgame walkthrough's regular routine of players shaking hands. According to several witnesses, it began with comments made by players that led to punches being thrown and players swinging helmets. Members of the schools' administrations were on site and were observed attempting to break up the melee. There was no initial report of any
serious injuries.

Last year’s ST Paul’s girl’s basketball team and parents were involved in a big fight. But our school never even looks at what happen. What should a parent at the school do or say when I’ve been involve for so long?

Yo, King Pop: Two persons at Montebello HS denied any knowledge of starting Qb Eli Mendibles breaking his hand Friday night. Both said he is expected to play against Mark Keppel.

Anyone who threw a punch should be suspended..but the district will miss this opportunity to teach a "life lesson" I don't care if both teams have to forfeit their next game or two....

King Pop said:

LMAO! Can anyone put any truth to the rumor I just heard about he quarterback at Montebello. Apparently he broke his hand in the brawl after the game Friday night. Wonder how he did that, maybe hitting a Spartan in full gear, in the helmet…….

The outcome could have been a lot worst. The administrations and coaching staffs of both schools ,somehow, were able smother a potentially dangerous situation. Fortunately, there were no seriuos injuries.... Kids need to take defeat like a man, and win with class.

I believe this article is about Schurr and Montebello St. Paul was not mentioned anywhere in this article. St Paul isnt all it's cracked up to be. Some of those football players are worse thatn any football player on a "public school team" so i agree get off your damn pedestal. Your an alum so you should know exactly what I mean especially if you played under the Ancich Family.

It is a new day at St. Paul. You wont see this happen anymore.

Most of us are well aware of our history and that is why we did not say anything. Don't penalize all of us for the action of one uninformed individual.

Everyone really should spend more time talking about their respective teams and how they will do in the next few games instead of trying to knock down some else's program.

Whatta Joke gave you the article from the L.A. Times you idiot. It is a fact you are a moron. St. Paul kids are just like any other kids open to making mistakes. I've been around long enough to know that St.Paul kids get in just as many fights as any other area kids. Coming from a catholic school i would think you would learn not to judge. St.Paul fans constantly put down other schools. How sad. I know they don't teach that in church. Kids are kids and often make mistakes. No matter what school you go to.

Any one see the 2008 CIF SOUTHERN SECTION REGULAR SEASON FOOTBALL TOP TEN POLLS - WEEK 8

La Serna is tied with Chino Hills as the lowest ranked undefeated team in the Southern Section both being rank at #6 in the respective divisions.

Mr Murray - I am assuming that is due to LS’s weaker non-league schedule? Since Santa Fe (#3) Cal (#5) are ahead of them.

Anonymous,

St Paul does not factor into this particular blog entry... what's St Paul's record anyways? At least this brawl shows that Schurr and Montebello have some fight in them; even if it was an incident that could have been avoided.
