El Rancho:
I think YOU should retire from this blog already.
Easy poet fan, is that you papa B.who else would be so passionate about a single player.Burke gets his press and more just like every other player who deserves it.It was so apparent that LA Serna wanted it more than most of the Cal high team.Cal its all in your hands its time to man up.Seniors if you dont want whittier to be your last game you must practice and get the younger boys to commit to playing 110% for 4 quarters the rest of the year or hang it up now.And my last note to the players who went out and played your hearts out it sucks but it must be the whole team or in tough games you will never get it done.ITS NOT OVER, REGROUP AND COME OUT STRONG .(YOU CAN DO IT
Great game tonight. And as I predicted, Murray and Campa, Burke had a very big game using his legs and arm. What is it going to take for you guys to give the Lancers the respect they have earned? How many 9-0 teams are left anywhere? Cal is a good team that never quits. Their QB Perrea is a gamer with good wheels, too. Avila looks like the best defensive player in the league this year. Their kicker is great, as is the Lancers'. The Cal defense was very good and pressured Burke more than any team this year, but the kids were ready to play, and made an amazing amount of big plays for a high school game. Tonight was HS football at its best. Great game by both teams.
Now Murray and Campa: let me guess, SF over LS, right?
Great game La Serna. Cal-Hi put up a fight but just couldn't hang. Glad to see that the LS kicker made a 45 yard field goal. Stern missed a 56 but boy it still looked pretty and was almost there. #75 from LS was a beast and played well on both sides of the ball. Great job by both teams. Maybe there will be another match-up like this in the play-offs; if CAL beats Whittier that is... that should be a good game actually.
Game of the week is next thursday: LS vs SF... can't wait.
Also a battle of pride between Pioneer and El Rancho.. should be a good game as well.
Just for kicks I checked out http://calpreps.com/2008/ratings/California_all.htm today and here are some numbers for blogger fodder:
School – State Rank – Schedule Strength – Current Rating - Comment
• Santa Fe – 120 – 14.1 – 30.7 – played only 1 top-100 ranked team; wins a squeaker last night against struggling Pioneer
• La Serna – 153 – 5.8 – 27.2 – put up or shut-up against Cal tonight
• Cal – 173 – 10.0 – 25.7 – put up or shut-up against LS tonight
• St Paul – 183 – 31.6 – 24.8 – played 4 top-30 ranked teams
• Bishop Amat – 44 – 30.2 – 39.8 – #44 in the state = not too shabby!
My predictions:
La Habra game: Highlanders will win on a brillant running game by Ronnie Hillman 31-14.
St Paul: SP pulls ahead in the second half, winning 28-14.
Good luck to all teams tonight!
Let's go SG! Good luck to both teams friday night!
Dons it’s your time to be among the valiant, undoubtedly this season’s moments will take a bravery that notoriously you possess. Whittier posses its warriors and they will not back down that’s obtrusive. But this season’s trials and tribulations means you’ve been tempered by fire, sheer determination on achieving success runs though your veins. This game can be a dramatic moment of truths. It’s imperative to eradicate any short comings this season. FIGHT ON My brother Don’s!
Murry and Campa, you are both wrong about Cal over LS. LS's defense is pretty good and will keep the scoring down, but tell me, which team has really shut Burke down? He's had a game or two where his passes were not as sharp, but his mobility never has a slump, and the guys around him are good, too. This is the best, most balanced LS team I've seen in watching them for 4 years.
Food for thought: when the class of '09 were freshmen at La Serna, they went undefeated in football, baseball, and only lost 1 game in basketball. They especially dominated in baseball, where they beat second place Cal 12-3 and 20-1 in the last two games of the season. It may be hard for some to admit it, but they are a dominant group. (The '09 girls are even more dominant). Of course, things change over the years, kids come and go, quit, get better, etc., but the core LS guys are still there, and they have gotten better over the years, too.
Cal is a great team and I'm sure it will be a great game as Cal-LS always is, but LS has more horses this
year.
Murray you never cease to amaze me, so now its an upset if ER beats whittier.... you need to retire already!!!
why is it that santa fe and pioneer are playing thursday and not friday? they are the only two teams that share that field.. i think
anyways great game friday night cal vs. la serna..gonna be a dandy..
and i guess cal fans are gonna wear all blue!?
and la serna is goin black?!
w/e i'll wear green for the field that great game is gonna be played on hah
