Week 9 Thursday games provide some surprises

| | Comments (19) |

Santa Fe 19, Pioneer 7
A surprise here only because of the 12-point differential. Was Pioneer's defense that much improved (RB Aaron Turner got only 68 yards on 16 carries, well below his season yardage averages of 180 a game and 9 per carry), or is the Chiefs' offense considerably less than rated without him? It appears the defense turned in another impressive effort against a team averaging 23 points a game.

La Mirada 28, Artesia 20
Kudos all 'round to the Matadores (3-6, 3-2) who put themselves in position for another trip to the postseason playoffs. QB Daniel Poncedeleon led the way with 12 for 19 for 233 yards and two touchdowns. Artesia was 7-2 overall, 4-1 in the Suburban League and ranked No. 6 in this week's Southern Division poll.

That commment you made was uncalled for. The guy is putting up positive comments and you have come on this blog and make in ### out of yourself. Also, say your name and what school you support. Don't be a little p#### which we all know you are. I read these blogs all the time and I read some very nice comments about these high school kids. So please stay of this blog. As a matter of fact, I hope when you get out of your car a bus runs over you so we never have to hear from you and your dumb### comments!

Mr.Murray
I enjoy reading your blogs and they should stay positive. Please! keep jack#### like this guy out of these blogs who are negative. Good Luck to all the football teams this week!

Wow AA degree from Cypress Wow! The one from England? Or the one this 15 year old kid can throw a rock at? Hummm, who do you think blogs here? I know you don’t make six figures not even at the low end. I will attend a large university and football won’t be a factor, love my public school!

I understand what you mean and I agree with you 100%, But when your only 15 years old you cannot make decisions yourself when you live under your parents roof and don't pay any bills.

We'll I graduated from St.Paul and recieved my AA degree from cypress. Now after all these hard working years, im a single father raising 2 boys. They both attend Santa fe High school and I'll never regret putting them in their. I wish I could have put them through St.Paul, but the cost is outta my range. As for your comment about those schools embarrassed about myself I COULD'NT GIVE A RATSFAT*** WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT ME. I'm proud of being a SWORDSMEN and I'll never regret it.

RANCHO ALUMNI
Be careful what you wish for about all the young talent coming to the Ranch. I hope they all do. Your right about one thing Those players do have HEART. We'll have to sit back and wait.

I just want to say Goodluck to Santa Fe high school football team today as they play La Serna. I hope the game is good and pray they are no injuries. MAY GOD BLESS ALL THE BOYS WHO STRAP THE HELMET.

90, 91, 92, Swordsmen,
What did it get you, going to St. Paul? I’ll bet nothing! Why didn’t you go to Santa Fe, or one of the Whittier Schools? St. Paul education is far below any public school. Mater Dei, Servite, Loyola, and Bishop Amat are all embarrassed of you. What do they call your school? Swordsmen, your school doesn’t have self control, example always fighting at sporting events!

1991 - I'll never forget that bomb by Nogales over ER in the semis that pass will haunt me for the rest of my life. As far as I can tell you from watching ER play over the passed few years, they still look the same, same small mexican kids, same toughness, but they just need someone to make them play like their ass is on fire the way Shelko and Peterson had these boys playing. They need to hit, and hit, and hit, and get back up and hit again and then come back and hit again like hitting was their food, hitting is El Rancho's identity. If any players or coaches from ER are reading this, teach these boys how to hit and you will not be seeing anymore, 0-10,1-9, or 2-8 seasons.

You can talk about all the athletes wanting to play for a good program all you want, but the bottom line is other than maybe St Paul, ER is one of the only schools in the area that will win on heart and balls out football. There are a good amount of Legacy players coming up at the ranch in the coming years, things are going to get better, ER is not going to stay down for long, this was a rebuilding year, patience is key, Rome was not built in a day...

I agree with you about how we play all the tough Div III AND Div I teams. One thing I have to say is playing in div III we have to play those teams. Like I said in the earlier blog, we can't compare St. Paul to the local schools. Many of these kids want to play for a good football program. It's not like the way is used to be. Back in the day the city you grew up in is where you played for. I grew up in Pico Rivera, But thanks to my brother who was the biggest class clown and loser of el rancho my parents told me HELL NO YOU NOT GOING TO EL RANCHO. I remember El Rancho in 1991 had one of the best teams in history and I remember one play stopped them from being CIF champs. I know all El rancho fans know what Im talking about. These days many want what's best for their child and you can blame them. Maybe if we get the best players from the area and have them play St Paul they may have a chance. WHO KNOWS. So enough hating people remember these kids are our children.Good Luck to all the teams this week and may GOD BLESS ALL THE BOYS WHO STRAPP THE HELMET.

Last year our key juniors were, Aldecoa, Galan, Colindres, and Arias, Aldecoa didn't even play against Whittier...I said we were a young team last year, this senior class went 1-9 as freshmen it was expected that they would struggle... I said congrats whittier, I never downplayed their victory. Thats 2 out of 8 that you have beaten us this decade.... good job...

To parent of SP student: You ask why SP is the only school playing in Div. III? The answer is simple-it's the CIF Southern Section's decision to place you there! Over the past few years, the divisions have been scrambled a bit. The basic rules for the divisions is #1 enrollment, and #2 locality of school. But SP, like all other private schools DO NOT FALL under these rules and guidelines.
Why is SP no longer in Div. 1? Because Ancich and SP "Tapped Out" of that divison because they could no longer compete! Give any public school in the area the ability to recruit in the local schools, cities, and anywhere else for that matter and see what happens! The playing fields are not the same with Private and Public Schools! Schools like Mater Dei, Servite, Loyola, Bishop Amat have all had their ups and downs, but DID NOT QUIT and TAP OUT like SP! What's going to happen when you have a couple more bad years in Div. III? Move to the 8 man Division?

Come on were you at the same game that I was, or were you not looking. The only thing that you got right was Anthony Ayala was spectacular on a bad team. There offence was slow and there defence could not stop Enriquez even when they knew he was going to get the ball. The only reason that you think, you had a chance, was the Def Cord who is a el rancho alum put the 2nd string in to early with 11:00 min still in the game. The ranch did not capitalize because the first string went back in and closed the door in 4 plays. now that is tapping some ER ass. ER filled with juniors and sophmores, is what you said last year.

Isn't it funny how most of the people on these blogs just HATE on St. Paul. What is even funnier is that for all the hate, it can't be denied that the strongest program in the area belongs to that same school. Why is it that we SP is the only team playing in DIV III, and everyone else plays below that? How many area schools actually have the balls to play St. Paul. Only one. Props to Pioneer. Look at St. Paul's schedule then at you own schools, then come back and hate.

elrancho said:

I am definitely here Big Red, I am not going to dissapear for a few months the way you did last season when ER tapped that ass. I just have really nothing to talk about, the team has not shown us much this year and I had already accepted that we were going to have a bad year after week 3. If there is any positives, Anthony Ayala has been spectacular at WR, Bryan Turner is coming into his own on Defense, the line is filled with Juniors, and we have some sophomores making some nice plays on defense, lookout for Chris Castro... We were young this year and we were foolish to expect so much from a team that went 1-9 as freshmen, add to that the fact that Aldecoa did not play on friday we are pretty thin and banged up. We had a chance on friday we just did not capitalize. Good job whittier...

Good one Big Red!

Team captains sound the alarm that you all come together as a cohesive team recommit yourself to the fundamental idea that we are one DON! On the field and in the stands.

How can someone question Pioneer’s defense? Pioneer was impressive and apparently only an individual who was not there. Those young men are some tough ramajamers!!!

SF played as if they were overlooking Pioneer and waiting and looking forward to the LS game. But when it came time to make plays and put the game away they did.

Great game by LS pounding CAL early, they should go back to their old uniforms though. Next week will be the BIG GAME OF THE YEAR in the area. UNDEFEATED LS vs. SF, trying to bring yet another league crown home.

O ya great job SP (sarcastic) by taking a 1-win team down in OT! Alemany is gonna knock you guys out of playoff contention next week. Way to defend that CIF crown.

Pioneer came out ready to play, the refs made some bad calls that took Pioneer out of scoring range and probably a chance of winning the game
