It's a new staff trying to make a name for itself SP man, young & dumb. All the seasoned coaches have been around way to long to deal with SP's antics.

Your acknowledgement of the situation is a step forward tough. You can't begin to recover until you admit that you have a problem.

WTF are you talking about? I never denied it happened. I asked if it did happen then why did LM want to schedule another game? If they (LM) were that bothered by the alleged incident then they wouldn't of scheduled another game.

Before you open your mouth again pull your head out of your a@# first.

Price of ticket: $15; Miles to Angel Stadium and back: 950; Being able to see young men play their hearts out with pride and dignity: PRICELESS. Yes, I’ve finally returned to the north and what an amazing game. I seen a group of fans who take PRIDE in not only their team, but in the Band, who was the best I’d heard in over 25 years, and even some goofy student dancer to take a prize at the end of a quarter, just by their cheers. I personally liked the Tustin student, but in voting, support is all it takes to win. I must give props to the entire Tustin team, and #2, Wilkerson, #3, and #9, who gave everything. I believe #2, the QB/DB, played a game for the ages, and I hope his ankle heals perfectly. What courage to defend Hillman on two perfect attempts for a TD catch and then to take hits from the Highlander D, and still get up and wave off the replacement. And to the HIghlander D who didn’t overdue their sack when they seen he was injured, you brought even more pride to your family and friends. As I was told during the game, HE WILL BREAK ONE. Oh my, Hillman, you broke more than one ankle out there!! Those blocking schemes were amazing, and boom, Lightning struck. It was also amazing to see that Thunder didn’t only hit hard, but sometimes there was a ROLLING THUNDER, and when Q caught a pass downfield in full-stride, boom-boom Thunder kept going for more yards. As I stated earlier, if there is Thunder and Lightning, you better look out because RAIN is most likely on the way. Was it just me, or did Nygren look like the leader that you ClanPride folks have come to now and love since he was a pop warner QB? Those downpours of RAIN were just way too much for the Tillers to overcome, and that made the trip totally worthwhile. I must also concur with others in that not only did the Lightning, Thunder, and Rain play a huge part in this game, but a major force that was unseen, THE WIND, showed up as a Category #3 Hurricane. Oh my, props to that D-line who did there job so that the MLB could finish the job. That is exactly how to defend the wing-T, and with 23 tackles, and Wilkerson ran 37 times, I think we know who had the better average of tackles per carry, Arteaga did it to perfection. I know I write too much, but these will be my last words on the OC. I met many ClanPride supporters and it made me proud of LH, where I once lived in my younger days. LH has something special that is not seen in many communities these days, pride in their school, pride in their city, and pride in the team. As I departed the celebration at the school, it seemed like something usually reserved for the big screen. Music, cheering, and then a progression of players hugging not only their parents, but also other parents, friends and families, which was incredible. ALL those who were a part of LH Highlander Football, from the coaches, players, statisticians, cheer team, band, assistants and faculty should be very proud of making your season a huge success, and from a fan via the OC Varsity, who enjoys seeing a lot of Rain, best wishes on next year and beyond. It was a great ride. Thanks. (Phil 4:13) This is Rancho7fan signing off….

Come on SP, is that the best answer we can get from you?
They scheduled, so it couldn't of happened.

It's common knowledge that you wouldn't exchange. You gotta love the denial, it's alive & well in St. Paul land as always.

Well articulated SP fan, the part about playing without a helmet is more than facetious but classic. I believe all students should be encouraged to take full part in their school, education is up to you (kids) and to play football or any sport is blessing.

Couple of comments-

SP Fan - do you really think that a coach would come on here and use his real name? You were just kidding right? What's to keep from using SP Fan as my alias....nothing. Anyone can use any name they want.

SP Hater and Cal Fan - If SP did indeed not give La Mirada tapes in 2007 then why have they agreed to play SP next year? Go check highschoolsports.net if you don't believe me.

Don't let the comment from "Pete" fire you up. Yes he may think "SP Rules" and in my opinion so do I. But this is La Habra's time in the spotlight, again. His comments are out of place, out of time. And if Pete is Pete Gonzalez from SP, I will NOT send my son there when he goes to high school. Its comments like that and his previous comments on this blog that make me wonder if he played football without a helmet in his younger years. You would not see Rollo from MD or Lara from Poly touting their schools on a blog. They don't need to. Their football programs speaks for themselves. Maybe someday a new coach and staff will come to SP and bring back the "Football Tradition" SP used to boast about. We then could get past all this "transfer nonsense" and talk about what really matters and be proud about a great football program at a great school.
Well done La Habra. I've been to your games and seen what an awesome coaching staff can do to bring out the best in the players culminating in yet another CIF 'ship. Late.

FWY FAN said:

Great game today as La Habra earned its' 4th CIF Championship title by beating the Tustin Tillers! Can't say enough about La Habra's incredible "D" that shut down what has been described as Tustin's unstoppable Wing T. No points in the 2nd Half. Too much smack about how much bigger & faster Tustin's O-line was compared to LH's D....but who couldn't stop who??? Tustins bigger defense couldn't handle "Thunder, Lightning and Rain" and lost to a superior team that was coached superbly. Tustin lost it, in my humble opinion, by being so predictable and pitching to #32 nearly every time. This near-sighted type of coaching probably cost Tustin a chance to turn their awful start into a fair y tale ending. And what's with so many players going both ways???? couldn't believe that the mighty Tustin Tillers had so few players on the Team. Having a one-demensional team might get you somewhere playing certain teams in the playoffs, but when you get down to the FINALS and play a team that has a Championship Tradition, at least give your team a chance to win..don't think Tustin's M. Miller did that.

Robert said:

Pete; St Paul rules? / La Habra just won a huge game at Anaheim Stadium everyone and I mean all the area schools are very happy for them, but St Paul why?............ I was at the game and I saw people from El Rancho and many of the Whittier schools ( Cal Hi ) in support of La Habra, plus the schools from La Habra’s football league. Maybe that’s why coach Mazzotta’s kids are going to La Habra and not St Paul.

SP, you wonder why DRL schools don't schedule you. Did you refuse to exchange tapes with La Mirada when you played them? What could you possibly be afraid of? You just have to have the edge even against inferior competition, then you recruit any talent that you see on the field. This is an example why nobody wants you on their schedule.

Posted by Cal Fan

Answer the question, did you or did you not exchange tapes with La Mirada? Sounds like typical antics from that HOLY school you are so fond of.

based on the success of both la habra and diamond ranch to reach their respective championship games i think it is obvious what propelled them, a strong preseason. i mean diamond ranch was 7-6 going into the championship game but they had some pretty notable opponents in preseason(oaks christian, bishop amat, muir, colony and chino hills). while they went 1-4 in preseason the rest of their season they went 6-3. their preseason definitely prepared them for league and cif. much like la habra who played south hills, los al, and san clemente and they lost to each of those pac5 teams by 7. those were their only 2 losses but then again they didnt have another close game until 2nd round of cif so all their players were rested and healthy to make a run to the championship

Congratulations to the La Habra High School football team for claiming the CIF Southern Section Southwest Division championship game.

La Habra 26, Tustin 14 F.

The Highlanders have just clinched their fourth CIF-SS title this decade, truly setting the area mark in football excellence.

Today's title is also the third different divisional title for the Highlanders.

Stats are to come.

Andrew J. Campa said:

La Habra's Jake Peppard just forced a sack on third and four at the 45.

It appears a beaten down Tustin is content with just sitting on the ball and running out the clock.

Andrew J. Campa said:

Tustin just got a big first down on a fourth and three from the 41 on a Richardson four-yard carry.

Tustin is still moving too slow. There's 1:54 left in the game and its on its 48.

Andrew J. Campa said:

It's apparent the Tillers are starting to wear down, Richardson is over 30 carries and is starting to tire down.

Tustin has the ball on a third and six from its 38 yard line with 3:11 left in the game. The game has been stopped for an official timeout because of a Tustin injury (Denazale Stewart).

The Tillers also appear to being way to slowly for a team that is down two touchdowns.

La Habra 26, Tustin 14 @ 3:11 left in the fourth.

Andrew J. Campa said:

The Southwestern title is inching its way to La Habra.

Hillman just broke a 43-yard touchdown run, off tackle right and broke a Cody Oxby hand tackle at the 30 before finishing in the end zone.

The score capped a five-play, 63-yard drive that's given La Habra some much needed breathing room. The extra point was again missed, though.

It's...

La Habra 26, Tustin 14 @ 5:16 left in the fourth.

Andrew J. Campa said:

Tustin continues to drive but has run to trouble

Third down and 11 at the La Habra 41 when David Arteaga decided to take the game over.

Arteaga makes a shoe-string tackle on Wilkerson on third down, holding the back to one yard.

And then, on fourth and 10, the Tillers try the exact same pitch, just to the left side. However, Arteaga comes around and makes a tackle at the 37, forcing a turnover on down.

Suddenly a La Habra team that couldn't make a stop in the first half is on fire.

La Habra ball on its 37 with 7:58 remaining in the game as the crowd chants "La Habra" in unison.

It's

La Habra 20, Tustin 14 with 6:45 left in the game.

Andrew J. Campa said:

It's La Habra 20-14 at the end of 3 with Tustin driving.

The Tillers are at their 47 with a first down.

Andrew J. Campa said:

Talk about a change in momentum.

Hillman carried an amazing 55-yard touchdown score as he deked Wilkerson at the 50 yard line and sprinted to the end zone. Wilkerson went left and fell the ground as Hillman juked right and scampered unabated to the end zone.

The score capped a 3-play, 92-yard scoring drive that put La Habra back on top with 1:56 in the third quarter.

If there is one negative it's that Rae missed the extra point. That could be costly.

La Habra 20, Tustin 14 @ 1:56 in the third quarter.

Andrew J. Campa said:

The Highlanders just got the big break they needed.

Wilkerson appeared to bust a big carry for 30-plus yards and had a shot at the end zone until he was hit and stripped by Dominic Sierra at the 12.

The ball rolled around until it was recovered by Anthony Sandoval at the 8.

The critical turnover stopped what looked to be a sure scoring drive.

First and 10 La Habra at its 8 with 3:22 left in the third quarter.

It's still...

La Habra 14, Tustin 14.

Andrew J. Campa said:

La Habra had its momentum stunted when on a third and 10 from the Tillers 27, Nygren was sacked by Justice Tausaga for a 2-yard loss.

Any thought of going for it on fourth down was stopped on a delay of game call.

Highlanders punter John Rae just had his punt blocked, giving Tustin the ball the Highlanders 48 with 4:51 left in the third.

It's still...

La Habra 14, Tustin 14.

Andrew J. Campa said:

The Tillers had the ball on their 49 on a fourth and one with 7:22 remaining in the third and were called for a false start.

Tustin decided to go for it and was denied when David Arteaga and Eric Padilla brought down Wilkerson for a gain of only 2.

La Habra ball on its 46 and driving.

6:27 left in the third, La Habra 14, Tustin 14.

Andrew J. Campa said:

Halftime Notes

La Habra had a Hillman 80-plus yard kickoff attempt called back because of a hold with 3:32 left in the first half.

La Habra had an earlier Quezada kick back of 60 yards called back because of a holding call.

Stats at the half

Quezada 6 carries or 47 yards
Nygren 10-62 for one touchdown
Hillman 3 carries for minus 1.

Nygren 4-for-6 passing for 88 yards and one score

Tustin takes over possession in the second half.

thanks andrew.

Andrew J. Campa said:

La Habra 14, Tustin 14 @ the half.

La Habra took possession at the Tustin 15 with 3:32 and drove the ball to their 19, before Nygren was taken down at the 18 on a third and 2 with 32 seconds remaining.

Instead of attempting a 35-yard field goal attempt, the Highlanders took the clock down to 9 seconds before calling their final timeout.

The Highlanders were unable to cash in, however, when Nygren's pass to Hillman in the end zone sailed after the San Diego State-bound back slipped. The coverage was tight, though, by Richardson.

Andrew J. Campa said:

Is anyone going to make a stop in this game?

Tustin responds with an 11-play, 63-yard drive that culminated in an Anthony Wilkerson 2-yard scoring plunge off a pitch from Richardson.

The Tillers chewed up 5:32 off the clock and are dominating the time of possession.

La Habra 14, Tustin 14 @ 3:31 left in the the first half.

Andrew J. Campa said:

La Habra answers Tustin's score with seven points of its own. Nygren connected with Ronnie Hillman on a 16-yard slant on a third and 11.

The Highlanders scoring drive consisted of eight plays and spanned 85 yards in 3:20.

La Habra 14, Tustin 7 @ 9:07 in the second quarter.

Andrew J. Campa said:

Tustin quarterback Taylor Richardson scores on a keeper from 24 yards out to tie the score at 7-7 with 1:02 left in the first quarter.

The touchdown capped a Tillers 16-play, 80-yard drive that spanned 7:06.

La Habra 7, Tustin 7 @ :46 left in the first
