A bit off the subject, but just wondering ...
It's a couple days early, and Florida and Oklahoma still have to play for the BCS championship, but will that outcome influence opinion concerning the average spectator's choice for the title of No. 1 college football team in the nation?
Or, .... do you think the question has already been answered by the games that have been played?
Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, maybe even USC ... ?
Just wondering ...

to del rio football fan- yes I know the Pac 10 is much weaker then the SEC and Big 12 and maybe even the ACC. USC should have beat Oregon St. But didn't LSU last year loose to UK. Kind of like what happened to USC this year. I would also like to test my knowledge of college football against yours.
That so called weak pac10 went 5-0 in bowls this season what are you smoking?? Oregon State is a top 25 team... An overhyped SEC team like Alabama gets handled easily by a MWC Utah while Florida struggled to put the crimson tide out... Stop drinking the SEC Kool Aid, that conference is overhyped year by year, they never leave the south, they always play Division 1-AA teams OOC to build themselves up... Why cant those SEC teams go into a hostile environment the first game of the season the way USC does, USC has gone into Virginia Tech, Auburn, Arkansas, Virginia game1 and rolled, the SEC would deserve that hype if they did the same as USC...
Playoff Fan I to would be in favor of a college football playoff. Now the powers that be, I mean the big wigs that control it and its money that’s at stake, aren’t going to give in. Unless the public (Fans) get their attention. I remember when I was very young my families owned a few horses that were stable at the old rodeo ranch in old Pico, location Beverly Blvd and Paramount Blvd. When it was time to shoe the horses that powerful animal would do anything in its power to avoid it maybe the long steel nails that must have hurt. They, my dad or uncle, would apply an apparatus around its mouth and nose and twist it until they got the horse’s full attention and only then could they remove the old shoes and install the new ones. I hope it’s done different now I am sure it is, most horse people have a specialist perform that task. But my point is we need an apparatus.
to shs-i do know college football-id be happy to put my knowledge against yours anytime-if USC wants to win a title they cant lose to teams like oregon state-deal with it-people around the country agree with me -thats why your beloved toe jams fell in the poll- and the fact that the PAC 10 is weak and the SEC IS MUCH STRONGER.
I painfully agree with you (del rio football fan) my Trojans blew it. This year’s championship should go to the winner of #1 or #2 ranked. Because if it was us (USC) I’d be very happy no matter how we got there or what record we arrive with. My opinion Oregon State isn’t that bad of a team, if they get over the hump we'll all have to pay much closer attention to them. Now for my own enjoyment, at least we had the chance to blow it, maybe this year we’ll get it done. Every year starts with new hope.
Hey Anonymous......what does UCLA have to do with anything I said? ZIP - just like SC's chances of a national championship this year
There is no denying that, USC did blow it by losing to Oregon state, but hey so did Florida by losing to ole miss, so did Texas by losing to Texas Tech, so did Oklahoma by losing to Texas, the bottom line is that no one can say that one team deserved it more than the other since everyone stumbled across the way. How can USC beat Washington by over 50 points and move down in the BCS rankings, and just because oklahoma beats an overrated Big 12 team they move up 4 spots and ahead of USC... The only way to really crown a champ is to have a playoff, until then it will be hard to have a unanimous champion.
Hey del rio football fan, Oregon St. was not a bad team. You probably don't know a thing about college football. I'm surprised you didn't say Florida doesn't belong in the nc game cause they lost to Ole Miss.
hey el rancho- your beloved usc wont be winning a national champinship cause they didnt desrve it- THEY LOST TO OREGON STATE- no champinship team should be losing to a team like that-they blew their chance-like they have the last few years-always losing to someone they have no biusinss losing to-they only have themselves to blame- face it --either Florida or Oklahoma will be champions. no one else -Pete Carrolls team blew it again.
USC H8R; Hate of USC won't help UCLA or is that off the subject? Remember hate only very slowly kills the person who hates.
A bit off the subject, but this is still PREP sports right? We cant even get timely info on prep sports and now you wanna talk college football????????
We need a playoff. Again this season proved it. Utah demolished Alabama more than Florida did. Utah beats 4 teams that in the final poll are in the top 25 teams and their confrence goes 6-1 against the Pac 10 that just went 5-0 in bowl play. USC along with Utah and Ole' Miss were playing some of the best football just before the bowl season started. Imagine seeing them grind it out for a true national championship. Utah beat Oregon St. TCU and BYU, but Ohio St pays University of Chattanoga Tenn. a couple of million to come get thier butts kicked and they are playing in the Fiesta Bowl.
How is this system of picking a national champion a true and just. Would'nt USC and Utah make a great semi-final or Finals or even Oklahoma and Ole' Miss. But, instead we are left with a flawed system and a flawed champion.
A coach tells his team, "You are good enough to play Divison I college football and beat teams that can play for a national championship but we cannot play for a national championship because of how the system chooses its champion."
No doubt USC, or even Utah can lay claim to that national title, USC did not get in because of the lack of respect for the pac10, the pac10 ended up going 5-0 in bowls. One of the big reasons the pac10 teams would get no respect was because they lost to MWC teams like Utah, well we saw what Utah did to the SEC runner up Alabama.... The only way to fix this dam mess is to have a playoff, with playoffs USC would have had about 5 national titles this decade alone.
Absolutely not my brother Mr. Murray I think or believe the rankings have been all set by the BCS system. And yes that question has already been answered because all the opinion will never change the outcome. Ian a USC fan but I like Florida for this game. Texas is like USC just looking in, nothing to wonder.
