Montebello football coach made his own decision

| | Comments (26) |

Nishil Shah said Sunday night that the decision to resign as Montebello High School's football coach was his and that he was not forced out.
"I feel my decision was made for the school and the community," Shah said. He said he will remain at the school as a mathematics teacher and could possibly return to coaching at a lower level (freshman, junior varsity) but probably not this year. He also indicated the future is bright for whomever takes the reins.
"This group of kids, the juniors and sophomores, is the best group we've had in some time," Shah said. Then he added, "I am at peace with my decision and I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my life."

Now DRL imposture isn’t there a little differentiation from grammar and spelling something like {its or it’s} a blog not “an” English class? Please don’t hide behind a public school St. Paul. Pretending to be someone else in order to trick or be a trick? Your masquerade is too easy to debunk.

"Wow another SP that who skip class",HUH

Its a blog not English class! Please don't give any advice when you can't spell.

SF said:

Sword’s it does, and its argument, not arguement! Wow another SP that who skip class. If you or any one at SP can’t remember how many CIF titles that have been won?..... (Bad) With our talent we do well, but with our integrity and not cheating, we win the respect of our family and community. Now that’s seems to be out of SP’s reach.

Sword said:

Does it matter how many CIF titles SP has won? SFC you tell us how many they have won. All I know is that SF has won "0" titles and thats all that matters. I also know that SF has beaten SP "0" times. So what was your arguement again? I also know that SF has the best talent in the area and cant win crap with it. Who has the most titles in the Del Rio league and by titles I mean CIF titles?

SFC's said:

SP Class of 83; Face the facts you guys (SP) are done. You’re on this blog after 25 years later. I ask you did you just get out of prison? You know where criminals are confined. Because you still don’t know how many titles SP has?

St Paul Class of 83 said:

So the bottom line is that Santa Fe Springs has zero CIF Football Titles. St. Paul has 4 or 5 CIF Titles.

Period.

and the next time the Chief's beat the Swordsmen in football..........let me know.

and as for Montebello......they are not and have not ever been a football powerhouse. Again, football powerhouse programs win CIF Titles...multiple titles.

SP or Observer
I believe you make a great point. So why is the pay “a lot more” …….. At greater SF? If you dug yourself a hole, stop digging, but maybe SP doesn’t teach common sense or good sense. And we all know SP doesn’t teach spelling LoL. Listen save yourselves and run as fast as you can away from SP. Take it from SF we want to help “you got to believe to achieve” that’s our motto. And yes the most talented, not just on the football field but we top SP in the classroom.

Observer said:

The pay is alot more at SF you moron....its common sense. Im sure if she made the same amount of money she woul dbe at SP. Period is teh number of titles SF has....the most talent in the area yet cant win. SFs motto do LESS with More...LOL

So SP said; as you say SF principal is a SP alum; I say why isn’t SF principal at St. Paul? That does make me wonder. Maybe no one wants to go back to SP not even the Alums? SP has very little in ownership. What looks like a period is SP!!!!!!!!!!!

SP said:

Right....isnt the principal at SF a SP alumnus? Makes you wonder, SP not only owns you on the field they own your school period.

SF that's right! said:

You’re a joke not your a joke; broken down St Paul can’t hold a candle to SF not in the field or the classroom. So we don’t own a CIF title right now, we’ll get there. As for someone being jealous, brother or sister that was in elementary school no one is jealous. St. Paul Fan if I cry it’s for your sorry no way superior enrollment dropping like a rock school. How many of SP’s Alums kids go to SP? I’ll bet more go to SF, because their smart.

St.Paul fan said:

SF?

Sorry I failed your english test! But one thing that I'm not sorry about is your sorry azz program at SF. Zero titles! Is that the proper spelling? Don't even try to compare the two. Your a joke and a trouble maker. Just like all the other's that are jealous of our school. It's easy to hate on a program that's superior to yours. Everybody takes shots at a champion. Why do you think no one says a thing about SF? No one cares! Your program stinks. 2000 boys and can't win a title. SP has 200 boys and has won a few titles. I see why you cry...Like I said more with less.
As for the SP coaches going to MHS, heard great reviews from a very reliable source. Good luck SP coaches.

St Paul Class of 1983 said:

again, I must have missed Santa Fe's recent CIF Football Title...in any division. And I remember each and every year the Swordsmen played Santa Fe, St Paul won.

St Paul HS gets all the attention, good and bad, because they have been to the top and Ms Barr will do a great job selecting the enxt coach.

SF said:

Uneducated St. Paul, learn to spell!!! Not preperation but “preparation” and its swordsmen plus helmit? Just to name a few and grammar. So St. Paul don’t you make stupid comments. SP doesn’t need to recruit? So they only come to lose, the little minds at SP, but God loves cheating if you win a Divi.11 wooding ring. Now your truth “kid’s talent level” that go’s were, when, ended up at what school?

BEWARE said:

Is it St. Paul Fan or On the Outside? Pick a name a stick to it. You are probably too busy trying to pump yourself and St. Paul up that you forgot what name you blog under. Gonzalez will NOT get the job, didn't you hear? He's going to SC! LMFAO

MHS said:

On The Outside;
You’re truly on the outside of reality your comments only expose you, and have also reveal clearly what many of us have long suspected. St. Paul people have abundance of great storytelling. It is most distressing, but compulsively brings all of us to feel sorry for you. Hopefully St. Paul will provide studies especially that help its students think analytically.

St.Paul fan said:

Beware,

In case you didn't notice, nobody and I mean nobody cares about your stupid comments. As for comparing SP and MHS save yourself the embarrassment and keep it quiet. MHS won't and will not ever play SP for the simple reason of them being way overmatched. They have the same kind of athletes but the respect for the game and the preperation is the difference.
As for Ancich building that house, wrong again. Yes he was a great coach but so was everyone who coached there. SP at it's worst was still better then MHS at it's best. NO doubt! MHS would no doubt benefit with the hiring any SP coach. I played for Ancich and I would have loved to play for Gonzalez.I watched him coach and was very impressed with the way he and his staff went about there business. He never asked for a pat on the back or wanted to be recognized for his success. That's the way swordman roll. It takes alot of factors to wear that sword on your helmit and talking crap is not one of them. So by simple facts, if you don't hire these guys then so what. But one thing that won't change is how MHS play football. Boring stale football. One school will benefit with these coaches. I'm not saying there better then everyone else but they do prepare just as good as anyone else. I'm real sad to see these guys go. My son will be a senior this year and it's looking dismal with the names that are getting thrown around. Anthony Wilson? Ancich and others? I hope not.
As for recruiting, a kid will transfer because he is not happy with his current situation. SP doesn't need to recruit. Kids come because they want to win. Plain and simple. "Beware" what would you know about winning being from MHS?
As for D1 kids, your right there are none. Which brings truth to my point. Kids at SP play above there talent level. They do more with less every year. These coaches demand excellence out of there boys. As I think about it, how many D1 boys have ever come out of MHS? Can't think of any....
Finally, as you ask for an apology. None required here. We as a SP family want to thank all the coaches for your time and effort. We thankyou for helping our young boys become men. We thankyou for your long hard hours and you commitment to our school. If MHS passes on you guys remember that it's there loss not yours. Your resume is impressive . Be proud and thanks for being a part of our SP family.

Braves said:

I’ll say this, if I wasn’t at Bosco “Thee Mighty Braves” I and my parent’s wishes,…… I would go to MHS and be an Oilier and not even think about going to St. Paul, ghetto trash! They have never screened the kids they admit. And that’s how SP operates. But that’s why the kids only think about football!! And why the alum’s kids go to public and other private schools. St. Paul has to recruit! Or what?? hope kids will just show up? And that is the kids that have gone to Catholic School all their life.

BEWARE said:

On the Outside,

you sure do know you History, but what you fail to Mention is how Marijon Ancich built that HOUSE. NOT Gonzalez, NOT Jimenez and NOT any other non-credentialed person at that school. Yes you are right to say St. Paul recruits, and you deserve to play those other schools that also recruit, whats your point? you want public schools to play by the rules, to play schools that dont play by the same rules? You make no sense. Kids get recruited because they have grades, play hard, and are good/great athletes not because St.Paul play good teams. If you think kids go to college based on who they play, how many D-I Kids did St. Paul send out this past year, because from what I see and read, I have that number close to 0. I would suggest you write a formal apology for the past 4 years, Gonzalez and Jimenez, for stealing our kids. Now they're begging for a job after being fired. NO THANK YOU. Go to SC or Washington like your telling people Gonzalez (Yeah Right) St. Paul, you're no better than the rest of us and your ethics and you deserve everything you have gotten. Thank you Mrs. Barr and Mr. Murphy listen to your community DO NOT HIRE ANY ST.PAUL COACHES!!!!!!

Audacity said:

On The Outside; are you a couple of French fries short of a happy meal? St. Paul doesn’t bang with any of those schools they get banged!!! You have the audacity to mention SP with LB Poly, Poly is most dominant in track-field, but you could pick any sport where they have racked up championships. Currently at least 18 football players on division 1college rosters. Now those currently in the NFL , Willie McGinest, Brandon Whiting, Kenya Rambo, Omar Stoutmire, Marcus Anderson, Winston Justice, Marcedes Lewis, Manuel Wright, Darnell Bing, Pago Togafu, Sammy Parker, Kareem Kelly, Desean Jackson, just to name a few. And yes they are a public school. Scouts are watching these kids from middle school and some earlier. Just another SP empty head that doesn’t think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On The Outside said:

I’m so amazed at all the crying you grown-ups do about how St. Paul operates. Ask yourself, “Who is our competition? How many times in the past 8 years have we made the play-offs? When was the last time we made the play-offs?” Then take a look at who St. Paul plays EVERY year. And SO WHAT if they didn't make the play-offs last year! Look who they played! How many of the local schools can bang with Servite, Long Beach Poly, Loyola and schools of that caliber? How do you suppose Montebello would do against these guys? There are only three schools in the area that can lay a claim that they are legitimate contenders; Santa Fe, La Habra and St. Paul. Santa Fe absolutely dominates Del Rio (because they have a great feeder program), don’t even argue about why La Habra has that distinction unless you’ve been living in a cave and the third one you all love to hate; St. Paul. Before you Schurr heads start firing off hate towards me, surely you get an honorable mention. Everyone else is inferior. And WHO CARES if St. Paul recruits! Are you just mad because your child is not on their radar? That’s just one of the many benefits of not being A GOVERNMENT FUNDED PUBLIC SCHOOL. If you want your kid to play serious football, send them to a school that’s going to get him the right exposure. A college scout won’t be impressed with how many yards he rushed for against El Rancho, but he will be impressed if he runs for 200+ yards against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Stop being pre-Madonna’s and quit your crying. Go take a look at the Pac-10 rosters and see where those kids are coming from and compare your competition.

You did a great job with your players and you put education before football. Let's hope the powers that be make the overall good of the student athlete the priority over wins and loses.

BEWARE said:

FootballFan,

THEY HAD ONE GOOD YEAR AT ST.PAUL. Hours do not equal wins. any good coach knows that. u want proof? St.Paul didnt make the playoffs last year. theres your proof. St. Paul Coaches do not hold teaching credentials, the waste countless hours that dont reflect on the field, and they have been STEALING OUR KIDS for years as mentioned in the other blog. There are coaches out there that can bring in a good staff of young and experienced coaches that can get the job done. These Gonzalez and Jimenez guys who dont hold credentials and were just fired by Ms. Barr for not living up to the standards of St. Paul are NOT welcome. These guys have tryed to throw their own names out there for every opening possible. and Howell in the other blog said Gonzalez was contacted by SC and Washington to coach with the, lmfao. and Jimenez sent a resume to Temple City 1 day after the other coach was fired. their ways have finally caught up with them! NO St. Paul!

Former player and parent said:

We agree, Coach Shah did the best he could with the players he had. Here is a young man who sacrificed so much for Montebello and genuinely cared for the players but did not always get the support and respect he deserved. The reality is coaches are judged by wins and not by their character. Mr. Shah, you are a class act. THANKS.

FOOTBALL FAN said:

Too all of you Oiler fans,

Maybe coach Shah realized that he hit his limitations as the football coach and did the best he could with what he had in assistant coaches and players. I commend coach Shah for the job he did and not leave the cuppard dry of talent. Whom ever get`s the job and I hope it`s Pete Gonzalez they should really tap into the wrestling program. I believe that football and wrestling compliment each other. Oiler fans who say that the SP staff should not be hired, should really ask yourself no Championships ever won in football, a staff that will dedicate many hours into the kids and preparation to bring a culture of Championship football to a community that has to played second fiddle to Schurr H.S. all these years. Now you can look forward into being competative in league and in the playoffs. Can you imagine playing in the CIF Championship game against reigning Champion Charter Oak in front of 5 to 10 thousand fans. Oh gives me goose pimples. So be open minded and give this staff a chance. GO BIG BLUE AND GOLD, future football power.

Good job coach, when you feel you need to make a change you do it before someone does it for you I'm sure that was not the case. There's a lot of things pulling us different ways and you have to make hard choices. Good luck in your next chapter, life is to short.
