Rumors .... and the other side of the coin
Just meandering ...
Yo, :) (or what/whomever that is): Why would Dusan Ancich want to leave the head coaching job at a better paying public school to take the position at St. Paul. DO NOT misinterpret that to be a slam on St. Paul's storied program. The money differential is substantial. ...
Speaking of $$, according to a well-placed source in a position to separate fact from fantasy, the rumor that St. Paul would receive a "$1 million gift" from the Willig family if one of their own was named the Swordsmen's head football coach is bogus. Big time bogus. And does that really surprise anyone?
Yo, yo, Anonymous: The play of Whittier's girls basketball players indeed is impressive. Notice any similarities between their's and the boys program's defensive intensity and execution? Works for one, works for the other. ...
Yo, yo, yo, Cal High Parent, er, Paretn: You post in generalities concerning a coach's abilities or lack thereof, yet you list no specifics with which you are uncomfortable. Just what is it specifically that you think is missing in the program? Even though you may disagree with it, you must assume his game plan is based upon the belief his players' talents are suited to it. Eliminating innate talent (over which a coach has no control), the next three most important traits for a program are 1. Players buying into the program, 2. Players working hard both in practice and games, 3. Players getting along together (better known as the proverbial chemistry). Your program has all three.
Just curious: If you were the coach, what would you be doing differently?

I was at the 98 game score was, 54-0. SP was pretty good that year. I believe SP will be alot more competitive with Ancich back at the helm. I am not saying they will win but they will not get blown out the way this past coach did.
Hey Sp c/of 98
Your full of $&*t you probly never played a down of football in your life let alone play on the 98 SP football team that I have to say was pretty good, I was at that game and sp did win but they did not beat them 56-0. And as for SP owning SJB did you happen to see the game in 2008 the score was 37-10 Let me tell you it was a good old fashion beat down. So get your facts stright By the way what position did you play in 98? If you even played? Sp owns nobody!ohh they did shut out pioneer and cantwell in 08! need I say more
Why am I a pathetic individual? Because I not only believe but know that we are set apart from the rest. That are schools can only produce kids that will make a Hugh difference. Catholic schools are the only opportunity for as you say people to better themselves. St. Paul has had big problems for some time now, do you “Rodgers” agree? I ask, why do you respect all programs and schools? Because a lot of the schools should be closed. What is our calling?
Catholic schools,
You are a pathetic individual. Ive had enough, I graduated from SP and now I am educator at a local public school. It is my job to educate and give ALL kids the opportunity to learn and make a difference in life. All schools have their bad apples and all schools have brilliant students, it is what it is. I would never belittle a school because of one student that is plain ignorance. How can you judge a school by a couple of bad apples, what about the good apples? Why is tuition so low at Cantwell? Why is it so low at Bishop Amat?? Get a clue man, I respect all programs and schools, Santa Fe a great place, SJB also a great place, SP is also a great place. To many people pass judgement on a schools integrity because of football success and forecomings in the sport, who cares. Lets not forget these institutions are of higher learning sports are a plus but the school is to learn and to educate. SP gives children the opportunity to better themselves people that see anything but that are plain pathetic. I wish the best to all schools and their students I hope thay all have succseful careers in whatever endevour they may choose.
This is crucial and most vital and of greatest significance in determining an outcome for society in general and I won’t make an apology because there will never be a need for it. I think St. Paul school should be shut down!!!! The kids that come out, I mean not all that graduate, but too many give many problems. A large mix of our Catholic schools has football programs. Our schools are more than sports. It’s education. That’s why tuition is so low at St. Paul.
SP c/o 1998
Fear will always stop you from reaching your goals. What’s the saying Bore to lose, Live to win, but you have to jump out of the St.Paul box and become a Brave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And before this blog audience, it’s your or could be famous super grand spotlight. Hurry the stagecoach is about to leave.
Here’s example of Chrislike private Christian school “Covenant school of Dallas “100-0 against a school that has only 20 girls in its school total. Dallas school was up 59-0 at halftime and the parents and coaches were cheering in the second half as Covenant continued to make 3 pointers even in the fourth quarter. Now that’s Christlike, those parents and coaches were really displaying the fruits of the spirit. The small academy school with it specializing for student’s struggling with dyslexia and other challenges must have really felt blessed. These type examples feed racism. And gives us Christian’s bad raps. ………..A quote from Blaise Pascal “Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction”
Sadly this has been going on for some time now, last year’s game Long Beach Poly vs Amat HS the first playoff game the parents from Amat started throwing things and using the ( N ) word at the LB poly parents. Some fights broke out luckily there were some undercover cops to put a stop to it before it led to a riot. There many teaching in the Bible but need to taught by qualified person or left to the clergy. One can just look at the Middle East.Religion should bring people together not divide them. No kid should be taught he's above another.
Ok sp you had to go back to a game 11 years ago, and then you want to blame us because kids don’t want to go to sp. In case you haven’t notice smart young men stop going to sp a long time ago LoL. Most young men want to be Mighty Braves. Let’s not look at enrollment but facilities available for students, what a difference like night and day. Who’s most respected in the Roman Catholic community (BRAVES)
Dear La Serna Parent and any other parent reading this blog,
I too, saw the article on Servite's "Pit Crew". I find it interesting that both Servite AND St. Paul are "Faith-based" schools. How horrible is it then, that the kids AND parents violate the very thing their schools stand for. What about the golden rule? Do unto others...I find it despicable that young "men" (and I use the term loosely) would behave in such a manner...ITS A FLIPPIN GAME!! You don't demean a person's gender, race or beliefs all in the name of sports, all in the name of fun. Are people that inarticulate that they have to resort to immature and racist comments? As for the hope that our new President would have an affect on our views in life......That is not a lesson for him to teach, but one that should have been taught in the home. But after hearing how some parents (St. Paul) behaved, It all comes into focus now.
This story comes from Steve Fryer at The Orange County Register.
Video of Servite Taunts, which are very similar to the type of chants that happen in European soccer matches directed at African-American players. The Register reports that late in the video Servite fans can be heard making monkey sounds when Mater Dei guard Gary Franklin has the ball
Off the subject; the Serite taunts as bad as it might be it’s nothing of what happen years ago at El Rancho's inaugural Blue pride classic the first Friday night. ST. Paul was getting killed by Dominguez when the SP parents started calling the Dominguez kids the “ N “ word that’s when the fight with the parents broke out and Sheriff came in stop and shut down everything. I and a lot of fans left right away. Let’s hope with our new President/ parents will teach their kids it wrong to hate any one.
SJB
Your funny, Bosco maybe higher in divisions but last I checked SP dropped down to div.3 in 1998 and played Bosco. Do you remember that score??? Umm let me think, does 56-0 ring a bell and wasnt the so called mighty Braves in Div. 1. SP owns bosco, and always will. LOL, win at least 1 CIF championship in football and then talk your game. 1,500 boys at 1 school but cant win a CIF football title. SP averages 400 and has 4+. This story is laid to rest!!!
Murray
Can you look into the rumor, about the montebello head football coach resigned. I heard it happened on friday.
SP I mean any sport pick one, don’t be afraid and let fear hold you back. Credo think about your comment, now we have to be smarter than a box of rocks. What higher Div. in any sport does SP complete in…………Boys or Girls.
ST. PAUL REPLACEMENT????
Casey Morales, now that's your "MAN"...
DRAMA, POLITICS and HIDDEN AGENDA FREE! Casey, just wants to play the game...any game! The kids buy into his program, they respect him!
Don't be afraid SPHS, be smart!
Only recently sjb has been getting the better athletics, but that will change soon. And we’ll see this year what you’re made of. I believe the saying is “you’ll be taken to the woodshed” should I gave the score? Maybe not. I should say good luck because you’ll need it.
Whats SJBs Trinity League record the last four years? Whats their playoff record? Probably right, Bosco is the the top dog in the area always start 6-0 and end up at home by week 10. Credo son...
Listen who’s playing better football the last five years? It’s not SP, now because your school won something at Div. 11 you want to overrate yourselves. Braves over all in field and in the classroom are a class in its own and far above SP. So class of 83 whose top Dog, SJB……..That’s right!
SJB:
Coaching at a school with a deep football history is overrated? If your a Brave, get back to me when your school wins 1 CIF title much less 4 or 5 like St Paul has.
If any other school in the area was looking for a new coach, it would not be a staory. But when St Paul makes a change, it's news.
Anonymous that's the best one of the new year. The only thing is over rated is the coaching job at St. Paul. In no way a good paying gig.
Tony Dungy is St. Paul's new head coach.
Did anyone hear that Anthony Barr Didn't get pick as all CIF? Maybe Ms.Barr should go down to the CIF office and raise some hell. Wait a minute, she's been doing that at St.Paul already. I don't think he's overrated just her.....
What are you talking about? The long drives to Villa Park are you crazy? Plus He won’t take a pay cut; you make it sound like He’s going to work for a circus. Money from the parking lot-snack shack and so on, like the pony & donkey show. People need benefits not pop corn.
Hey; that has to be the biggest bogus rumor of all time from someone or ones that any family would have to pay any amount of money to a school or organization in order to work there as a coach. When it comes to employment they pay you. And Murray no one was surprised but question what fantasy land do these people live in? The mind is like a parachute it only works when it’s open.
I agree that story about Dusan Ancich had a very bad smell to it. One has to look out for his family and future and go were there are benefits aside from the pay. I’m sure coach would say momma didn’t rise no fool.
1. Villa Park is a school between OL. and Mater Dei. He will be out recruited by those schools.
2. The basketball team is being looked at by CIF for recruiting.
3. Its a long drive for asst. coaches, his brother still works at cal hi.
4. he can do the same things that pete did (recruit, tuition fundraisers) and because he is a Ancich he will get away with it.
5. He can and will turn this program around quick.
6. Does he want to walk in his dads footsteps, and have people tell him your dad would have done this or that. Thats not the way your dad would have done it.
I have also heard rumors that he is coming. I guess we will have to hear from you or some one on the blog to get the answer.
Roger if you did your job you would know why Dusan would take the St. Paul job...Dusan still lives in La Mirada his brother Visko lives in Whittier as does there dad and none of them enjoyed the drive to Villa Park. As for the salary, he wont be taking a pay cut when you throw in the extras he will receive (parking lot money - snack shack money and so on...). Don't you get sick and tired of people doing your job for you? Do us all a favor and retire so Andrew Campa can take over.
Mr. Murray makes some great points regarding winning programs. Of his 3 main reasons teams succeed, I would wager consistent hard work at practic and gametime is the most important. I read these blogs occasionally and get so tired of the talk of transfers, recruiting, this coach, that coach. All students have the opportunity of playing at a higher level no matter what division they play in high school. Your talent, drive, and academic efforts will get you there. Students should do the best they can at their local school. Enjoy high school with your friends and play a sport or other activity. As SP parents and alums, the sports programs had nothing to do with why our son and daughter are there. There is so many other aspects to a school than just that. But, what do I know, I'm just a mom.
WOW! GAME-SET-MATCH!!!!
