St. Paul may be Savini-less
Coach Robert Miller said Monday that standout forward Skye Savini may miss Wednesday night's Division IV-A girls basketball playoff game due to aggravating a knee injury that has troubled her much of the season.
Although doctors had given Savini the OK to play in Saturday night's second-round game against Blair, Miller chose not to risk anything and did not use her. The Swordsmen won, 64-35, as junior forward Andrina Rendon scored 30 points, including 19 in the first half and 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

To Out Of State:
Unfortunately our local high and mighty Whittier Daily News doesn't write about SP Basketball. Mr Camps has gone MIA and Murray has a hair up ,, well you know the rest. So any kind of ink on SP basketball was absent this year. In fact Murray even sat at a home game, got his hot dog n coke for free and then NOTHING in the paper about the game he was at. Anyways, its a sore subject when it comes to Murray and Campa and any coverage on SP sports. I wish they give up there credential to someone fresh and eager to cover ALL area teams,,
As for your question.. The girls had a first round BYE then sadly lost in the 3rd round in a thrilling overtime game.
The boys had the same fate,, losing in the 2nd round in overtime as well.
The girls lose 5 seniors (2 starters). They have some quality Juniors coming up so another successful season can be anticipated.
The boys take the biggest hit. They lose 10,, thats right TEN seniors, all who contributed and many were the core of the team. They had 3 Juniors, but two aren't coming back. So the Boys will be starting allover again from scratch. JV struggled, so its goin to be interesting.
Go Swordsmen !!!!!!!!!
Just wondering how the St.Paul boys and girls basketball teams finished up this year? I did not see any articles on their final games in the Whittier Daily News website?
Didn't both teams have a lost of seniors and juniors on them and favored to get past the quarter round this year?
Thanks in advance for the posting a response.
CORRECTON: St. Paul defeated Corona Centennial, 8-4, Tuesday. The freshman, Rene Medina, got the win in relief. That gives him two wins and a save in the Swordsmen's three games. St. Paul plays visiting Garden Grove Pacifica Thursday in the semifinals of the Newport Elks Tournament. Game time 3 p.m.
St. Paul didn't play Wednesday. They defeated Corona Santiago Tuesday but the coach didn't report the score. He said he is doing it now to run in Thursday's paper. He also said St. Paul will play Pacifica in the semifinals Thursday.
What happened to the St. Paul team on Wednesday?
Where is the coverage on the Wednesday game by Whittier news?
That was probably a good call to keep Skye on the bench to get the extra recovery time. The Blair game involved lots of elbows and falls. It's too bad if she can't play this Wednesday, she's a joy to watch - soft touch with the ball. She'll play at the next level, I'm sure. Go Lady Swordsmen! Also, I just heard the our Girls Soccer team won tonight (up in Ojai). Next game will be home.
