Quezada bandwagon

Fresno State University has some company/competition in its efforts to lure La Habra running back Josh Quezada to its program. The Bulldogs made their scholarship offer in January. Now, BYU, Hawaii and New Mexico State have offered scholarships.
California, UCLA and Oregon State reportedly are among school that have indicated an interest but have not yet offered.

Listen Grigsby would have never made it to a “junior college” if it was not for St .Paul, who help him to the next level. Easye get your facts or story straight.

Easye said:

I remember watching Grigsby play as a freshman when he was at Downey High. He was already then a man amongst boys. No one can claim that Nick Grigsby is a product of any one program, four different high schools over his high school carreer. He can thank his parents for giving him the genes necessary to build such a supreme athlete. To claim that he owes his success to any one school is a bit of a stretch.

elrancho said:

I definitely agree that Nick Grigsby is a product of St Paul....

Robert Espinoza said:

I don’t think it can be mention why Grigsby left St.Paul. Let’s say how they treated Aubrey Haynes not good. In 40 some year’s one kid broke every record at SP. Dwight tardy, and it only took two years to do it. Dwight doesn’t claim SP.

Anonymous said:

Hey anony. A large core of alumni don’t claim SP or send their kids or grandkids to SP, they send them to public school and some other private schools. That’s why enrollment at St. Paul is at the low 600’s. So don’t talk for Grigsby.

Paul C. said:

Beleaguered anonymous;
So why does his (Grigsby) brother attend Cal Hi, And not St.Paul? You state SP made him. How? I would like to know what they (St.Paul) are teaching at the school. It seems shameful with what is being blog.

Anonymous said:

Grigsby was made at SP ask him. He doesnt claim Calhi, he wished Coach A wouldve never left so dont claim his as a Calhi product.

ERDON said:

I totally agree Grigsby is electrifying and only getting better. Nice to see a local kid doing well.

Hands down the best player to come out of the area, Cal High's Nic Grigsby. Freshman 1st-Team All-Pac-10. Honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors in 2008.

Anonymous, Mr. Quezada already is one of the best running backs in the area. I'm sure that he will blossom just fine under the leadership of Mazzotta and staff.

Indeed SPHS raised their tuition this year and we are still affordable from any private school around. I don’t know were SPF@N got all his/her information from, but the statements on this blog are accurate.

FYI… David Flores is still at Cerritos College, but there are talks on him transferring to Arizona St. or California. He has improved in the classroom and is still holding a 4.0 GPA.

Any word on the rosters for the 605 All-Star game?

Anonymous said:

clan dad bring him over to St.Paul and let him blossom in to the best.

Anonymous said:

SPF@N why is sphs still affordable? Because “sp” can’t raise tuition, there’s no justification in order to draw kids to our school. Please get your head out of the sand. We’ll lose all of our tradition if change doesn't come.

Xavier V said:

Wow from your poor review of quarterly statements that are suspect and can’t be taken at face value.
St.Paul is still racing to the bottom! I ask do you remember went SP was at 1100 plus? But I am sure you just put that fact out of your mind.

where is david flores going to play at next year? from what i know he is still at cerritos

SPF@N said:

Whittier,
I reviewed all of the schools quarterly statements and none of these schools mentioned below have had a huge pick up in enrollment. Based on what I researched 4 out of the 5 schools raised tuition significantly and yes SPHS is still affordable. Again please do some research before you comment on this blog….
St. Paul 2008 enrollment=676 [2009 enrollment = 643]
Bishop 2008 enrollment=1489 [2009 enrollment = 1473]
Loyola 2008 enrollment=2448 [2009 enrollment = 2451]
Servite 2008 enrollment=1774 [2009 enrollment = 1762]
Cantwell 2008 enrollment=619 [2009 enrollment = 623]

Joshua has to have one of the best work ethics I have ever witnessed. The kid is a self motivator and very humble. I am happy to see he has a bright future ahead of him. I have enjoyed watching him and glad he has one more year of high school. He told me about his website. I thought I would share it with some of his fans.

OK SPF@N, why at Bishop and Loyola, Servite, hey Cantwell enrollments are escalating? Good private institutions are growing!!!"

Prove it. Where are the numbers, please?

Michael SF said:

As you have reminded us about David Flores, his schooling he received at sp sub par at best / his grades were always in question. To play at the next level a kid needs good grades. Kids have to attend a school that doesn’t depend on football money to keep the doors open, because that school will tell the kid anything. I hope he does good.

Yo, dr del rio: Unless there is a late change of plans, California will go with Fernando Pineda and La Serna will throw Ben Burke. Interestingly enough, Following their game Wednesday (won by California, 5-2), both coaches used the same terminology on the subject: "Their No. 1 against our No. 1."
If Cal wins this one, Cal wins the Del Rio League championship. If La Serna wins Friday, the Lancers gain a share of the title. In either case, California will enter the CIF playoffs as the Del Rio League's No. 1 entry by virtue of winning the teams' best of three league series. La Serna enters the ;playoffs as the league's No. 2 entry.

All I read is one cheap shot after another. There have been multiple discussions about how both programs will fair against one another. But to mention an enrollment drop off is just plain stupid. If you would do your research before striking an ill revoke comment then you would have found that every school has seen a drop off in enrollment especially the Private institutions.

(Here's a hint: Because you need money to attend.) No job, No money... Enough said.

Does anyone remember DAVID FLORES? There have been numerous 4 year colleges looking for his services. This kid has really found his niche. You will be seeing him play on Saturday’s next year.

dr del rio said:

yo murray ,
who do you think will be the starters for friday's game (pitchers that is) for the cal / la serna game

dr del rio said:

was there ever a story about la serna (baseball) losing to pioneer last week ?. I thought they were one up on cal. only to be surprised by cal winning and clinching at least a tie for 1st. what happened to your dream team ?. its been alittle quiet lately, its either front page or nothing at all. whoever controls you should ease up on what you publish good or bad we would all like to know the local results.

All the cheating going on at St.Paul the last few years, one could only wonder what the mind set over there. Remember the big fall out with the coaches…… What about the huge drop in enrollment, I think it’s all a reflection. Let’s hope the (coach) legend will take care of business, and put everyone back in line.

what st. paul player is going to usc or lsu? A school full of too slow guys lol. St. Paul overrated. i would bet my life you won't ever play big time college football so stop hating on someone who is obviously more successful then you will ever be. Do St. Paul fans even like thes bloggers. Wow. Biggest haters in the area.

Sometimes I wonder if it really someone from making these asinine remarks.

Ignore this guy and he will eventually go away.

Behind the tutelage of Frank M. (a SP grad), the Highlanders have developed into a fine and talented program. They do indeed play a high caliber of opponent as does St. Paul.

We should be thankful that we have some excellent football being played in this area (LH, SP, LS and Santa Fe to name a few) and we should support all these teams.

For those of you who take shots at kids or by insinuating a school is bad because of the action of few misguided individuals, you are just as bad as the posters you hate on.

La Serna said:

I agree with the positive comments on Quezada. There's only one 'big time' player to watch in the Fall: Josh Quezada. He's "Superman".

Also, there seems to be a 'big time' baseball player over at Pioneer: Ronnie Palacios. He leads the league in OBP, Slugging %, Home Runs and Batting Average. He's #2 in Stolen Bases and #3 in RBIs. WOW! And he's doing it against better teams (Pioneer is struggling). Kudos to him!!

(Before you weak yourself!)
Please make clear you didn’t graduate from St. Paul. Your comments make “US” meaning SPHS alumni’s look bad. Ignorant people like you should sit back and shut up. We’ve sent multiple kids off to numerous four year colleges and it’s sad that just because a family member is accepted to SPHS you feel like you have a voice. To have pride for a school is one thing, but to take a cheap shot at a kid is just wrong. Be glad there will be another kid in our community that will move on to do great things.

I believe he’s not fast enough and small. It’s hard to judge because of the competition he went against.

Anonymous, there you go again making the SPHS faithful look bad. Terrible display of the English language, using a double negative. You need take and pass an English class at an accredited school then come back on this blog.

Maybe La Habra should play real teams like St.Paul. If a kid wants to test his skills he has to play the best in the area.

A beast among kids. Watched him play 2yrs ago as a sophmore he kicked booty.Tossed players like rag dolls ,hurdled others like an 8th grade pop warner player. Good luck and dont ease up any next year.
