Santa Fe TofC even bigger this year

| | Comments (41) |

Santa Fe High School will host a 40-school field for its annual passing and lineman competitions scheduled Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
Last season, 35 schools competed, with Lakewood defeating Carson in the finale.
Both teams return this year to head a list that includes locals California, La Serna, Schurr and Whittier, along with Western, Long Beach Wilson, St. Margaret's, St Bonaventure, LA Narbonne, Arcadia, Lynwood and Palmdale Highland.
Two San Diego entries (Mountain Empire, Westview), another from Salt Lake City (Olympus) and one each from Victor Valley, Barstow and Jurupa Valley should add additional interest flavor for what always is a large crowd of spectators. There is no admission charge for spectators, and food and drink is available for purchase.
The passing competition consists of a series of 7-on-7 games with outcomes determined by a point system based on the length of pass completions.
The lineman competition involves nine events, capped by a team tug-of-war.

The new principal started by literally and figuratively cleaning up the school. There are major projects going on for all to see. The football field is having a major redo. It is being leveled out and re sodded. All of the bathrooms in the school are being remodeled starting with the bathrooms under the bleachers.

One more thing "SideshowBOBBLEHEAD"

Do not try to deny you are from Whittier High!! When is the last time Whittier actually won a CIF Game in football, basketball, or baseball? Boys! 6 or 7 years? In basketball.

Football and baseball get quite embarassing!! 20 or more years in baseball and not since 94 or 95 in football. With JOKERS like you it is no wonder why?

Oh, is the school still a 2 or 3 on a scale of 10 academically like it was for years? I think academically it has improved a little, but not athletically.

What are you talking about? The Marijon Ancichi Youth Football Camp had over 300 campers. STOP LYING!!!! As for the date of the camp, we chose that date away from Montebello and guess what? Montebello changed their camp to the same day we decided to have ours. We did real good considering there were other camps the same day.

As for Coach Pete, keep him in your side of town and leave St. Paul alone. We just saw him at St. Paul on Saturday 25 July during the passing tournament that was being held at St. Paul. He drove up to the school, and straight to the field house while talking on his cell phone. WHY? WHY? WHY? What are you doing at St. Paul? Lucky for us, the field house was closed and he could not get in. STAY AWAY!!!! LEAVE US ALONE!!! MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE!!!!

It is tear not "tare". You are embarrassing your school with your lack of education. And I do not like it. Why don't I like it? Because quite a few years ago St. Paul put out "all kinds" of great "student athletes". I can think of 3 that made the bigs in baseball.

I mean great athletes that were smart. Especially in football and baseball. Your writing is terrible.
Your language skills are awefull. Obviously your parents did not read to you when you were very young.
And you have zero common sense to predict a win over Servite when they beat you by 30 every year.

yes SP is good at lying, like for years! nothing new.

St. Paul football program confirms the st.paul camp had 110 happy campers. Not even half of what montebello had.

servite we will tare you a new one this year, you're lucking we don't play each other this year. and we don't have a all boy sissified school, if we show up with 11 guys victory will be ours.

And you say u kicked ST.PAUL azz. U beat them by one point. your a joke AMAT.

St.paul, please plays us again or second string need the practice.

Some parents told me to check this website out. Dang SP people are awful. You parents need to shut up and stay off the blogs. I'm a PR Don and was thinking of SP for my sons school. No thanks I will send him to Amat, you parents are clueless.

One more thing I went to the camp at El Rancho great turn out and my step-son went to Montebello camp and they also a big turn-out. Next year SP should do it on another day so they can get some more kids.

Ok drama queen, Advil was not around but bull shxx was! And with your recent blog, the bull shxx is still flowing out of St Paul. There’s going to be some azz kicking and SP won’t need home bleachers because the SP family will be in a world of hurt and the last thing they will want is to sit down lol. So listen slime get back because you’re going to get smack!!!! The Lancers are going to bring it and after your families will not recognize you………Slimesmen….lol.
So youngest of (men) three brothers, who are you and your family name?.......Too scared. we Lancers understand.

To all SP faithful,

Get over yourselves! Why do you people always discredit everything about other schools then your own?Bottom line is that your school is on the decline and ours is on the rise. That was evident by this weeks camp. Our school will never have the great football tradition that SP has until we win some titles. No doubt. But let us try to get there. You people are still taking shots at Gonzales for what? He's our problem now and we are happy to have him. He has our boys really thinking about football. Learning the game rather then just putting on a uniform. I heard him speak this weekend and he had nothing but praise about being the former coach at SP. Almost proud. Blew my mind. The way he was treated by that new principal. Nothing but excuses. No proof, just alot of silly rumors with no hard evidence or truth. Just a title for the school in the end.
Anyways, we are happy that your our coach and we are proud that you will wear our uniform. Go oilers....

Here is a link to the Marijon Ancich youth football camp. 300 kids at least and they sure looked to be having a good time learning the fundamentals.

By the way SP is changing and it all is for the good. The new principal started by literally and figuratively cleaning up the school. There are major projects going on for all to see. The football field is having a major redo. It is being leveled out and resodded. All of the bathrooms in the school are being remodeled starting with the bathrooms under the bleachers. Those 2 projects alone must be in the $200,000 range. The money is being spent where it should be now.

It is time for SP supporters to stop the pot shots at other schools and focus your energy on SP. Get behind this new principal and good things will happen.

To my St.Paul Family...I'm the youngest of three men that played at St.Paul in the 80's...I watch my oldest brother play football in the pit when i was only 6yrs. During hellweek, he would come home bloody , bruised and hungry. I would wait up for my brother , just to bring him his food. He'd smiled and would take a handfull of advil and ate his food quietly. Several times my brother would just sleep at the table, too tired to get up and walk to his room. My brother told me,"One day it will be your turn...your turn to make our family proud". I thought he only mean't my family, but he was talking about the St.Paul family...He was a senior, and i was only 6yrs when he explain what SP. football was about.NOTE: This is for you.... present and future swordsmen, so please respect what im telling you. My brother said..."St.Paul football is that you do your talking on the field with your Helmet end of story". To my fellow swordsmen you never badmouth a school....or a Coach. And for the SPHS parent's that never wore the sword on friday nights, please let your son do the talking for you on the field. Im tired of all the shitzzz talking that we our doing...that needs to stop. We don't have the greatest facility or gym, we our always undersize, we have no speed, no talent, But we compete, we kick azz... its called heart, pride, this is what makes us so great.

Good luck swordsmen, Remember...you play for all the swordsmens that came before you. We are watching.

Roger-
Can you get confirmation from the schools about how their kids camps went (if you deem it newsworthy)? The SP numbers were big, about 250 - but I'm sure my number won't be considered valid. I will vouch for the snack bar - there can be no dispute there! My kids had fun regardless and I'm sure Montebello used the exact same format, they've all participated in the camp to some degree over the last 17 years.

Ok so the turn out wasn’t as good, but the kids had fun. And so what, SP doesn’t have a swimming pool. Pete got fired for a reason. And our camp didn’t have the numbers but were trying to rebuild after Pete.

What you you should be ashamed of is that you are coming on here and spreading lies. I doubt you are even an Alum.

Obviously, you weren't at the SP camp or you would of seen the 300+ kids that were there. In addition to the shirt they got, they got lunch both days, the chance to meet a ex NFL Player and to get a pep talk from members of the Santa Fe Springs Fire Department.

There were campers from all over the area and from Orange County.

You only make that program look desperate when you do things like this.

Ashamed SP Alumni said:

This weekend I took my son to the SP kids camp... WOW, what a joke only about 60 kids, and very unorganized. After paying the camp fee I pulled my son out, and we went to ex SP coach Pete Gonzalez camp. I payed again for my son but this time it was worth the money, they had over 200 kids from all over (Whittier, Montebello, Arcadia, Torrance, Alhambra, ELA, Pico Rivera, La Mirada, Bell Gardens, and more). This was a real camp, everyone was having fun and learning a lot. First they gave them a real nice T-shirt, then they barbecued for the kids at lunch break, and ended the day off by letting all the participants cool off by jumping in the swimming pool. I now understand what a great coach Mr. Pete Gonzalez is, and our loss is Montebello's gain. Good Luck Oilers

Why don't you and your husband enroll at the night school down the block and learn how to piece together a decent (and grammatically correct) argument. SP is not attending the SF TOC because of a previous committment to participate in another passing league competition at home.

Damn people, quit trying to over analyze this stuff!

Do they teach English at that school that you are so proud of? How about writing? To think you paid for that education is unbelievable.

Ok our SPAlum express his or her opinion and so cal SP09 would attack a Alum. Plus take the side of others. I know is wrong! That’s why (him) may husband says people only want to attack SP. Listen kid don’t call a SP person arrogant, fools. Everyone ask your self? Why SP is not going to attend? Because SP doesn’t need to. Whos coach is all time winner? I ‘ll give everyone a hint, not the coach from buffalo bills of high school football. In it is not good enough!

The year sp went, the coaches were yelling at their kids during and after they lost to john glenn. they went home after the 1st round in the afternoon. Dominated, funny I did not see them in the winners bracket that day. I know you were not there to see it .

Yo, SPAlum: I know exactly of whom I'm speaking.

SPAlum. said:

Oh yes the incident was sf doing. What? St.Paul cant ask a question? Plus SP struggling in the passing department? We have the top passer in a tri area and then to. Santé Fe knows kids see our program and know sf’s old coach cant help no one everyone dies there. Murray just remember who you commenting on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roger Murray Author Profile Page said:

Yo, SPAlum: Not sure what you mean by the Swordsmen not attending Santa Fe's event "for some time now," but St. Paul participated two years ago. There was, in fact, an incident or two, but much of it involved the St. Paul coaches aggressively questioning the game officials, who are volunteers. As for St. Paul "dominating" the event and "Santa Fe's people hated that," that is a questionable statement at best.
The competition is a passing exercise, and in recent seasons, St. Paul has struggled in that department.
The lineman competition might be a different story, because the Swordsmen, even when lacking excessive size, have always placed a high priority on strength and agility up front. While I'm not even positive they participated in the lineman events, if they did it's reasonable to assume St. Paul's linemen were competitive, but I'm not sure "dominated" is an accurate description.

SPAlum. said:

St. Paul has stop attending this event for some time now. The contest is weak. No one really brings their main guys. Santa Fe always tried to keep us out. Because we dominated the event and SF’s people hated that and always cause trouble for us. SF almost started some fights with our coaches.
.....................Santa Fe High School will host a 40-school field for its annual passing and lineman competitions scheduled Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.=bull !!!
