St. Paul's Medina transfers to St. John Bosco
It is that time of the year, and it comes with the territory. Good athletes with bright futures decide the grass is greener eleswhere and transfer to programs they assume will offer more opportunity to achieve their dreams.
Case in point: St. Paul High School's Rene Medina, who performed so impressively this past school year in both football (quarterback) and baseball (pitcher) as a freshman, has transferred to St. John Bosco.
There will be the usual assumptions as to why he made that decision, but the most practical reason is this: With at least two QBs ahead of him on football's depth chart, and probably three quality pitchers returning in baseball, it appears perhaps youthful impatience may have been a major influence.
Apparently it was of little consequence to Medina that the Swordsmen's quarterback spot will be wide open in 2010, and a year from now, two of this season's top three pitchers also will be gone, providing golden opportunities for a hard-working, potential-laden young student/athlete such as himself.
Clearly, St.Paul's loss is St. John Bosco's gain, but as always in cases like this, the program that lost the player will move on, hopefully as though nothing happened.

Hello SP what you have to say now? You got shut out
Medina a turn Colt, coach bob and kid knife in the back!!!!!!!
To the PR Dons Families. Just look on football field at SP. It's speaks for itself. Don't listen to the individuals on these blogs who say these negative things just so you don't send your kid to this school. Because they know if you do, it just strengthens the program. And that's not what these people want. So don't read to much into these blogs. WE WELCOME ALL DONS.
Hey brave said. Don't speak on behalf of all of here at sjb the kid has talent and were glad he's here with us at sjb will he be the starter don't no but for you to come on here and bash the kid and his family that's not right so grow up and have some respect or atleast some dignity sounds like bitterness to me so please if you don't have anything positive to say about this young man then stay the hell of these blogs and by the way your acting maybe your the one who needs to go back to public school or continuation school you big goof
att. mr brave said. what you wrote in this blog is really wrong you should watch what you say there are people coming on these blogs writing things to stir up stuff so please leave this family alone unless your wiling to put your name on here like a real person would do. dont get caught up in this mess medina is a good kid someone writes something and you gotta come back with crappy comments come on grow up itsgonna catch up to you soon
He is the best in a long time? The dad is a tool please leave and go to your local public school. I overheard the dad bragging nonsense in the stands, SP take your gem back.
Rene is the best qb at SJB. No one has the tools he has and will be starting in no time. I guarantee he is by far the best qb the school has seen in a long time.
Dear PR Don Parent,
I am amazed that you as an adult would assume that St. Paul High School is agreeing with these bloggers. These bloggers are individual that have nothing better to do than to complain, judge and bash on young kids.
Mr. Young Medina, thank you for your year with St. Paul, it’s been a pleasure. Good luck at St. John Bosco.
The true Swordsman wishes you the best of luck on your endeavors.
As a PR Don Parent, I am so Distraught on how, St. Paul has behaved on these blogs and I think it epitomizes what the school has become. There’s trouble at the school and someone has to take the blame. And it’s the kids, wow!
STFU with all your PR bashing, St Paul would be nothing withou the PR Dons on their team!
ana gets award for what? the pr dons are nothing and wont make it. her husband has to give the speech, because who else? Medina wont make it at sjb. the prdons have no talent.......
the problem is the pr dons didn't prepare him for HS. he'll bounce out of bosco!!!
To SP thats the problem. The Dad wants everything just given. Kid you have to the work.
EHey st paul said stop it already those this kid live with you or what it seems you worry more about what he's doing than what the hell your doing stop it already grow up he's gone and your still with this crap sounds to me that you and everybody else needs to stop hating and move on already what did this kid do to u that he deserves this crap he gave you or whoever at st paul a great year and this is the way u show your respect please grow up your only making your self and our school look bad ok chucy or should I say childs play
For all you haters Medina is doing well at bosco, atleast we know he is getting an education and the classes he is taking are actually challenging but I doubt that he calls any sp alum for help nice rumor but you made you and your school look stupid
Goes to show you what a joke sp is. Kids don't need to do homework to pass we all know that play sports you pass no worries let's all lay this subject to rest its over seems like sp can't forget
yes i know andy was a shortstop thats why i said two time gold glove winner winnner.
Coach Bob's daughter keeps in touch with the kid, and he needs help with the school work. Rene you have to put the work in, hard work never hurt anyone!!
For the record Andy Stankiewicz did not pitch for the Yankees and he did not win a world series! He played for the Yankees but was an infielder.
Why is it that everybody gotta trash talk. Most these people here have no clue what their talking about. Every one wants to put SP down. people say their enrollment may be dropping the last ten years. True! but they won a cif title and lost one as well. I admit the tradition isn't as strong as it was. I go to SP games every week and cant stand the fact we are not D1! Just isnt the same! But I believe it is coming back. We have a great coach although I do believe his time has passed him by, but with this coaching staff and its experience with rich tradition! Things may change. SP has played probly one of the toughest schedules any school could face the last several years! Their pre season the last two years was harder then anyone in the area. As for the Del Rio league fans! The DRL is a tough league! But honestly the talent level is not very strong at all. As for Bosco fans! Why you gotta run at the mouth. You do have great academics. You are an all boys school, the reputation on the football field is your soft! How many CIF titles have you won?
It’s not if, but when: the slime will (ST PAUL) go down!!!!!!!!! There isn’t any aspect of high school life that the SP slime is better than SJB. So go down in a ring of fire! You and your buddies can sing songs about slime success. Hey start a bomb fire and hold hands lol.
Can we please stop with all this bull about this medina kid how about living a life and now this rumor about his school work smells like a too face that's playing like he's a friend and then coming on here writing this stuff so for your info jealousy will get you nowhere so keep trying as for sp goodluck in the times to come hope all goes well
hey if SP goes down atleast it goes down as a success, unlike SJB! It'll go down as the never league champion, always suck, has no backbone, trinity league weak link for the rest of there days. SJB shouldn't even be in that league.
SJB idiot said:
yo longoria went to rio u retard and came out of there he sucked at SJB until he went to the JC
so all the sp kids that ended up at jc first out of sp dont count!
Looks like Medina is struggling with school work at sjb. Some one come to the rescue because dad can't.
Its said current MLB players idiot!!!
hell...mark gellegos, that was 300 years ago!!! brother remember your (SP) school we be closing soon. everyone was hoping it was going to stay open for the girls, but that's not looking too good.
actually 2 time gold glove winner played for the yankees andy stanywitz pitcher for the yankees and world series champ. mark gellegos ya wats goin on there who else dos SJB got
yo longoria went to rio u retard and came out of there he sucked at SJB until he went to the JC
Hey this goes out to you SP
Either your really stupid or just flat out ignorant I think a little of both You know if you could afford for your kid to go to bosco you would have sent him there bosco is a first class school and by the way do you know who Evan Longoria and Nomar Garciaparra are they both graduated from bosco name 2 professional mlb players that are St paul alum can't think of any players can you even santa fe has 2 players in Mark Kotsay and Rod Barajas sad to say but cal hi has 1 too in Anthony Reyes those are public schools that surround st paul I would be ashamed again what about st paul no current players in mlb enough said I think you should shut you mouth now your starting to make st paul look bad
Het SP get a job, most of the blogs on here are from you, Hating on a young man who left that sorry school Whats the deal with you bottom line Medina is a SJB Brave now get over it. Can't seem to depend on the talent you have there.the last time I checked we beat you in baseball, and by the looks of it SP shouldn't be in the leauge there in Can't seem to beat amat huh, and what's the no name team that beat you in the playoffs( Kaiser) you are an idiot. What you need to worry about is keeping the kids you have. Cuz when Gabes gone what else do you have to look forward too.
Bosco fan 4 life
Whats coming in 2012? It doesn't sound good.
o wow 40 guys D.1 in football. we're talking about baseball here, thats where medina is going to go to school for not football. How many people gone for baseball. no one really. SP was better for him in baseball not SJB. they get smashed on in there league and by teams from everywhere else. they shouldnt even be in the league there in. they have no right to be.
SP Fan(tasy)
"actually Medina wouldve got more looks at SP because of how many people Encinas pulls in. There's always 5 to 10 scouts from either colleges or pro teams at SP watching. He really messed up because the only time SJB gets looked at is when the other players on the other team bring people to the game."
Are you serious? HAHAHA...Let's see here, in the past 10 years we have over 40 D1 scholarships in football alone. As far as scouts, ask anyone about our spring football coaches practice where I've personally seen 30 college coaches on campus at one time. You really dont know what you're talking about so please dont embarrass yourself any more. As a matter of fact numbskull, how many has St. Paul had in the past 10 years and how many of them actually qualified instead of having to go to a JC? Facts buddy, not fantasy! Medina made a great choice, and I hear he's fighting for the starting job and looking really good.
This is a broken record. This young man and family are trying to do the best they can. Nobody knows what will happen until his senior year. Many things change in life like size or talent or like is he going to play both sports in college? I pray that he keeps his grades up being at SJB he should. Let's give this family support no matter what happens because once we were in their shoes or know someone that has been there and soon forgotten.
So SP Fan, those 5 to 10 scouts from either colleges or pro teams watching SP really haven’t seen any talent since the ones that make the next level end up at Cerritos JC, with bad grades. You could just go back 5 years, who sends more kids to 4-year College’s right from high school; Bosco does a much better job. Remember 2012 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is coming!!!!

I and my family are out of here!!!!! SP the end is near!!!!!!!!! Good luck freshmen.
Rich v: maybe your problem is the (SP) school? Not the kids that go there. Remember when things don't work out please don't blame the students. Rich I believe you are trying to distract from all the kids that are transferring out. Amat and Cantwell are benefiting.
Our problem is talent, especially at the freshmen level. For many years, SP will pull from the pr dons and the Whittier redskins and others. In addition, I coach at the pr dons back in the day with some of the great coaching staffs pr had, Tony Gonzales was nothing at that time and is still struggling, he needs his wife to pull the right team and that is why she won’t hold a election, but now the talent is bad or slow.
That’s why Pete went outside the area. We need young talent, just like any school who wants to compete.
Maybe because we took one of your little baseball/football players, who we might give him a look, but he has sp’s soil on him. What sp couldn't’ do we will do and put his Dad in his place. So sp we can talk all the crap we want.
HOW IS BOSCO TALKING CRAP WHEN SP ALSO BEAT SJB IN THE FIRST GAME 7-1 LAST YEAR
AMAT4SHO:
ONLY DIVISION 1V. SEMIFINALS!! GREAT SEASON! BUT THERE ARE THREE BETTER DIVISIONS OUT THERE!!
EXAMPLES: YOU LOST TO SAN DIMAS (IN YOUR WORLD GREAT) BUT IN SOCAL CIF NOT AS GOOD AS D1, D11 OR D111. YES SAN DIMAS IS A VERY GOOD TEAM THE BEST IN THEIR DIVISION.......1V
PROOF: CHINO HILLS 15 (DIVISION 11) SAN DIMAS 2
BONITA (D111?) 6 SAN DIMAS 2
GLENDORA (D11) 8 SAN DIMAS 7
ENOUGH SAID!

Dear Anonymous,
I guess you've been thinking about me for awhile if I understand what you are referring to. I think you were the reason I stopped reading and blogging last Spring. You're annoying. . . . but there's hope: maybe a wild football pass will knock some sense into you this Fall season!! Hey, just kidding - PEACE.
I love it, that's your best blog yet, keep it up. Remember when you throw a punch always use both hands one after another.
Peace!
AMAT4SHO: yes I realize Bosco did not make the playoffs and went 5 and 10 in league. Also they only beat Mater Dei 1 time (I misread Max preps)/
But St John Bosco plays in a much tougher division and the Trinity League is a much tougher league than St Paul's league. If you do not believe me, realize that league's fifth place finisher beat St.Paul, its leagues second place finisher.
I know any team can beat another on a giver day but this was not a given day. St. John Bosco beat teams St. Paul could not (only one example: they beat Simi Valley CIF division 1 champ or runner up in 2008)
Jared: learn how to spell "competitive"

Brave Fan,
Loyola not even in our league. You guys are a joke. If it weren't for JSerra and Santa Margarita, you guys would be in last in the Trinity league. Servite, MD and OLU laugh at you guys. Yuk, yuk, yuk....

AMAT4Sho, you act like you guys are any better than Bosco? We waxed your butt in football the last three times we played you and beat the crap out of Loyola last year who was in front of you in league. What the hell are you talking about? Ask your coach to schedule us the next two years so we can shut you up again!!

Thank You for your support! I appreciate it alot! I have some "HATERS" from Whittier High bloggers, but I know I played more ball than they did. (Cal Poly Pomona baseball under Legend Coach John Scholinas). He taught huge life skills along with the fundamentals of baseball, both physical and mental!!
.....so i guess bumping uglies is in order!!!!!!!!!
Before you go guaranteeing games vs Amat, worry about Cantwell..YES, Cantwell. This squad is ready to break out. And break out they will. Summer league is any indication, look out Swordswomen. These guys will light up the scoreboard.

Like i said SP can take on anyone in baseball. Amat as well Servite should've never swept SP because we just had one of those games again when Encinas was pitching. really Amat your going to say Paez is better when he's not. you guys beat Encinas 1-0 first game. What was that off an error again right. Game 2 when Encinas pitched again was one of those days. He threw more innings than any other pitcher out here and was lights out every game except that one. He had an off day just like everyone does. We're human and not perfect ok. Rio, Gabriel has respect for the kid because he already knew who he was before. So introduce isnt the wordyou should be using. That was really the only good hit he had off Encinas that year. If you look back to game 1 Encinas k'd him 3 times. The streak with Amat comes to an end this year watch. i guarantee it.
In the past 3 seasons St. Paul is 0-10 against Amat in baseball. This past season was the year the Slime was to dethrone Amat. Let's recap this past season. Encinas threw a helluva game against Paez in game 1 but Paez still managed to get the better of Gabe 1-0. In game 2 @ St. Paul Encinas was introduced to Rio Ruiz who took Gabe's 93 mile heater deep. Super Soph Jay Anderson also took Gabe deep. Final score 7-1. Paez ran his personal record against Enicinas to 4-0. Medina threw 2 shutout innings. Game 3 matched the big horses Willson vs. Zuniga. Willson had a hard time finding the strike zone that afternoon walking 9. Zuniga took a no-hitter into the 7th and won 6-2. Medina gave up 2 runs in that game.
The bottom line is that Medina would not have been a starter this year. He woud have been behind Encinas and Willson again. It was a smart move for him to leave but he should have went to Amat where they are in need of another starter and where he coud have learned under the best high school pitching coach Chris Beck.
SP is for people who want to go to a catholic school and don't want to drive too far......... Or who are on food stamps. The slimesmen are in a world of hurt.
People go to any other school, you'll be better off.
Big Daddy- You said SP can handle anyone in baseball. What about us? We own you. Servite swept you in a doubleheader. They cme in last in the Trinity League. SP is for people who want to go to a catholic school and don't want to drive too far.
Paul Lopez isnt even that great. He got so much hype from the 07 year when they won the championship but it wasnt even him that did anything. if i recall it was the great def. from coach Jimenez and the running power by Aubrey Hanes. What did Paul Lopez do. The real QB over there is playing baseball and no one has noticed that. Gabriel Encinas was supposed to be the best area QB before he left Santa Fe. I bet if Gabe went out there this year, he would take that spot in a heart beat. Paul still has so much to learn in that spot and he needs alot of work. Some of his reads are just horrible and he needs to stop looking for the long ball. and start looking everywhere including short game. The hype of Paul Lopez needs to stop now because He isn't really anything. Sure he's athletic I'll give him it, but he still isn't a QB...!
Jared,
honestly the level that SP plays at in baseball, can handle anyone. You swear the the trinity league is all that. SJB could barely beat SP in baseball so how are they soooooooo better. Ya right, there not even all that great like everyone is making them out to be. SP can handle anyone in baseball. So whoever wants to play us bring it. You know what the funny thing is as well, SJB and all the rest of those schools in there league recruit kids from other schools all the time. The reason is because they're a private/catholic school, which means they can recruite. SP is the samething as them and everyone gets mad when one kid from another school decides to go there on there owne will or if SP recruites them. Thats what i dont get.
To GUS,
Ya man SP has been playing better teams than anyone else in the area. So if you say we dont play anybody good, obviesly your wrong. We owne every team ijn the area and we havn't lost to them.
The dad is a something else, good luck SJB. Rene is a good kid. We all know he left SP because of the money, Rene's dad made that clear. We all know Coach A doesn't do a passing game. I think Paul just got stuck since he is a senior.
Chkfax & Notsofast,
Correction..."Latino kid from pico!"
Thanks,
LAP
He's not going to start for us, why? because,..... Should we push aside all the kids that came without the drama? They and are faster, bigger than him and not "height" wise but he is small in stature, just look at his parents? The academics at sp are lower than any public school in the area and that is a fact. So how would he make grades?
Without question, we would love to have Medina at the Ranch, but we have to respect our fellow Pico family. We will support this kid no matter where he attends high school. High school should be a wonderful experience. Good luck Rene you will have a beautiful time in any high school because you have family with you.
i don't see the kid making it at sjb, with a all boys school and a full roster who will he bump? the dad is going to be very upset when the kid has to compete for a spot.
Did not see this kid pitch, but was able to see him quarterback some last year and this year in practice. He has talent but from what I saw on the freshman team incoming, there is a kid that would have taken Medina's spot as quarterback next year had he stayed. This kid has the tools needed to start as a sophmore under a Coach A team.
Still wish him well at Bosco, hopefully we can still play Bosco after this year and see these two kids compete against one another.
The Ranch LOL!!!! please!!!! come one people....let the KID PLAY.
Hey LA Preps,
You might want to revise your statement "SJB wont give the QB duties to a kid from Pico, those are the facts."
Have you forgotten about recent UCLA graduate Patrick Cowan, who resided in Pico while attending St. John Bosco?
Hey LA Preps,
Weren't Joe and Pat Cowan from Pico?
The kid belongs at the Ranch....
Bosco Brave:
So who is covering the bill because they were struggling with tution at SP and their tution is lower than SJB?
He could of gone to Amat, CSHM, Cathedral or even stayed at home at the Ranch (for free) but chose to drive to Bellflower.
So don't try and BS us with they made the selection on their own. It is a known fact he got shopped around by his dad.
He is the #3 pitcher on the baseball team and the 3rd string QB. Someone told him he'd be otherwise at SJB.
Hey, the kid is a good kid. He's talented and has good work ethic and I'm sure he'll have a good future.
He isn't the first kid to go through that and he wont be the last.
Good luck to him. I wish him the best.
Hey SJB, do you think this Medina kid can beat out the Sophomore QB that they currently have???? Just curious... I heard they're grooming that kid to be the QB for the future.
All you dads out there. If your kid is good at whatever they do. Please stay behind the scene.
Like this situation. Sounds like Media has an agent, not a dad. Too many agents in high school athletics.
Good luck to Mr. Medina. IMHO, St. Paul was not a good fit for him unless he wanted to stick with baseball only. SJB wont give the QB duties to a kid from Pico, those are the facts. If he sticks with baseball he will excel. Football at SJB for Mr. Medina will equal, riding the pine.
Good luck,
LAP
For all you haters who hate to see good talent go else where should think about it twice. If an oppotunity was put in your face where your son or daugther can go and play at a top level school and compete with the best, what would you do?. Rene is a great athlete, will shine and prove wrong all his doubters. For you Mr. Anonymous wrong again Bosco is not forking out the bill.
Medina wont start at JV this year; but if he is willing to put in the work? He has a chance to be on the varsity team next year. The Sp coaches did mention his work ethics and his dad. We all hope he has it.
Amat, your right.....lets not forget the level of competion goes up though, and academics at St John are much much better. heck even Amat offers a better eduaction than SPHS....i agree with you on the fact that Bosco May not be a League Champion team in one of the toughest leagues in So Cal, but neither was SPHS in a pretty weak Division 3 or 4 league...i mean Bishop Amat was the best in that league...but now Medina will be pitching and hopefully one day QB'ing at the varsity level against some of the best teams around....to be the best you have to play with and against the best....and Trinity League offers a very very COMPETIVE LEAGUE.....good luck Rene!!!
PS this kid has the talent, and mentaly tough. only rene can control his destiny in how good he plays and works on and off the field, that includes the books too.
Hey Sports Fan Original,
You do know SJB came in fifth (6teams) in the Trinity league for baseball right?
And don't even bring up football. They are even worse.
Why you bother reporting a freshman who is transferring? Must be a slow news day. We all know SP kids peak as freshman anyway. Next subject.
I see Sports Fan is still the best blogger on this site. Good luck to Rene Medina. He's a good, polite young man. I only saw you in baseball, but I think you have some talent that will take you to the next level. Best wishes.
I KEEP MY WORD ALWAY!!! IT IS WHAT IT IS NOT WHAT I THNIK IT IS!!, I DONT PUT MY HAND IN THE SUN CAUSE IT SHINES ALL THE WAY YOU GO BOY RENE YOU ARE WIL BE GOOD AND THE BEST YAAAAAAA BOY AND MOST OF ALL LOVE!!!!! YA BOY AND MOST OF OUR LORD JESUS CRIST,FOR GIVE THOSE WHO DONT EXCPT THE TRUTH BUT BE HUMBLE AND MOST OF ALL KEEP THE FAITH
YOU HAVE ALL OUR LOVE!!!!!
Because of whats happening now at (SP) our school, Bosco isn't a bad choice, Pioneer would be best. Talent shines no matter were you are. Nowadays recruiters are watching these kids in little league and parks and recreation. There's a whole network of people connected to the Universities and clubs that feed (sports) kids across the country. My son and daughter attended and graduated from USC and Arizona and they graduated from Norwalk High school. The key is be involve with your kids, don't just love them without purpose or maybe the right word is direction, but in away that you stop them form thinking of their own future and whats the best fit for them. All kids are a lot smarter than parents think. I am a construction worker and a single parent who made a lot of time for his kids.
My take on WHY? It was not because of the other 3 pitchers at St. Paul because the school he is transferring is pretty "big time"!!
St. John Bosco has plenty of very good pitchers, one of which beat St. Paul 1 to 0.
St. John Bosco beat Servite 3x, Mater Dei twice, Orange Lutheran, Simi Valley (2008 Division 1 finalist; I believe they won it all) and Loyola (2007 CIF champion). Obviously they are a very good Division 1 ballclub. St. Paul is a very good Division 4 ballclub. BIG DIFFERENCE!
He wants to play at a higher level of competition. No Cantwell's, Bishop Montgomery's, etc. A step up in "baseball class". If he is that good, then its all good, if not, not so good a move. If he does real well at St. John Bosco it result in one heck of a scholarship because of the better competition.
Hey st paul wow your true colors are showing this kid and the family were good to your school and this is how you show your loyalty how come mr murray doesn't mention about sp non complete coaching staff and all the other on goings at sp oh by the way didn't they also lose 2 coaches from baseball and they don't have problems there ha ha bull good luck medina good choice
i hope the kid sticks it out this time, even if the job isn't handed to him. every kid has to fight for their spot. if a kid doesn't have the fight in him, he'll quit there too. parents shop their kids all over until they "parents" find a soft spot. every kid should have to battle.
It all came down to the money. SJB is willing to foot the bill.
I have had the pleasure of watching this young man play both football and baseball since he was a kid, he is a leader and a great athlete, so for anyone on this blog to say otherwise your full of s*$#
As for SP your and idiot, lets speak facts
1.did you even play football or any sport at SP?
2.if you did what happened to life after SP? likely nothing right?
3.Sp is losing players left and right do to transfers(Markus V fact) or doing jail time.(FACT its all over WDN)
That program, as well as there school has been going down for years. Ask any truthful alum they will tell you first hand why they dont send their kids to SP.So to sit on here and try to say negitive things about this young man your a coward
Rene you and your family have made a great decision for your future good luck you will do great things. YOU hold the key to your future and BOSCO will give you plenty of doors to open its all up to you.
Most important welcome to BOSCO.
BOSCO DAD
i know this kid and i know he will do good wherever he goes.. he has he desire and works hard enough to do great things at bosco.. watchout for this kid.. he was good and he was a freshman, give him 3 more years and he will be one of the best out there
its a shame that whenthis young man was at sp there was always good things being said about him but the minute the family goes in a different direction all this junk comes out about him thanks sp for your support your true colors thats why there are so many things happening to your school good job kid we truly apreciate what you did when you were here at sp
I'm not sure how good the young man was but I would still like to wish him good luck except when he plays St. Paul of course.
There are far more athletic players at SPHS then Medina, Good luck at Bosco.
Hey SP for the record you are a moron like all your other SP friends! Medina is very good and is going to do great things in the future! So who is going to play QB for you guys next year??
Oh that is right it doesn't matter because he will be handing the ball off anyways!! Good choice kid now you will be able to throw a few passes & best of luck in the future!!
i thought as a freshmen QB he did alright. and Making 2nd team all league and all area honarble mention, is not too bad.....as a pitcher that is. a freshmen varsity pitcher. so good luck to Mr Medina in that very tough Trinity League.
I know his Dad, and he was shopping (schools) around for him. The kid has to possess the goods=talent, which the coaches think if he would put in the work, he would get the ball. The kid could go to any school and still he has to have the goods. OK spend more (stupid) money, and it still wont make him the starter at JV, which he couldn't make at SP.
must have feared hell week.....whussss!
dont deserve to be in "the den" or "the hole"
SOPHMORES.......DO YOUR THING......
it really does not matter, St. Paul can't beat anyone good in baseball anyway. with a coach doing double duty, no wonder they have lost to Amat 12 times in a row.
hey even though he leaves, doesn't give any SP kid the right to talk down on him. He was a good player and friend in both baseball and football. Anuone who watched this kid would know that. I know he'll continue to be successful in his game over there at SJB. Good luck rene and you know I'll always have your back man.
yo murray quit not posting all comments.you talk about other people not going so hard on innocent kids.you are an evil doer why would you even post this blog.leave the poor kid alone its no ones business where he or any other kid goes or why they made a specific change. look at the first comment (negative), no kid needs that crap and I have no connection what so ever. COMMON SENSE SAYS EASY ON THE KIDS AS I HEARD YOU SAY B/4.
I did not see him play football but i heard he was pretty good. I did see him play baseball and i can say first hand he is good. Any freshman who they put in when the game is on the line, well thats trust. He was thrown in late in the first game at La Habra. How did he do? Ask La Habra... He drove in the winning run against La Serna.... They know who he is.... He pitched well when they needed him the rest of the season..... How many freshman (14 year old that is ) in any sport do this? Not many.... He has the talent and poise to become a quiet but vey good pitcher. Good luck Rene..... My family will be cheering you on...

Sounds like sour grapes, who was going to take his place on the JV team. Whats the kids name. Sounds like coach A is loosing it, players leaving and no big names coming in.

Don't be shocked if St. Paul was not going to pay for his school, like they did last year, and St Johns was. Good luck to the young man.

He wasn't that good, another kid was taking his place at QB.
