Hey SP what’s up dog I’m sorry I haven’t been on the blog in a while. But I have a Big Boy Job and can’t hop on the Blog every day. So yeah it looks like LM and SP will be getting down again this year it should be a great game LM has a lot of players coming back off this year’s championship team, St. Paul should be better there coming off back to back 3-7 seasons but I’m sure they’ll be able to ring in some new talent, with the addition of coach Wilson the D should be a lot better. The game should be great two storied schools LM is trying to keep rolling coming off a great season and SP is trying to bring back the hype to their program.

LM Manny where are you Mr. disappointment, you said “Oh Swordsmen I’m going to love this blogging war stuff”, you lied about your AD and SP playing” la Mirada”, your school is scared and tried to get out of the matchup! this football season is going to be extremely good year for us and you la mirada will fine that out early. we added new coaches and we are going to be stronger then ever with our new weight room. we have a new young runningback from amat thats going to tare it up this season.

First of all, SP does not play Cantwell next year. Second, we couldn't beat them this year and with all who they have coming back I don't see a change in the results.

All i can say is that Ray Niemann has a up hill battle. And he's going to need more than support.

John Glenn High School announced today that Mr. Ray Niemann has been named the new Head Coach Football Coach. Ray is also the Wrestling Coach at the school. Let's all support Ray, his new staff and most importantly, the John Glenn Football Players.

La Mirada should be our easy one other than Cantwell. With all the coaching scrambling we have our work cut for us. I have already stated my doubts on the new coaching changes. Plus I agree with Swordsmen in doing what ever it takes.

what the...? we have less kids coming out for football this year, and not much talent if any, its gonna be a few years before we have a winning season. we have to try everything we can for now. amat would kill us and what or how could that help our cause. lets hope we beat la mirada our first game.

The following came from an interview in the SGV Tribune with Amat coach Steve Hagerty during a discussion on their schedule for next year.

"In addition, Bishop Amat also will not play rival St. Paul.

"I guess it's not an ideal time for them," Hagerty said. "They feel like they need another year or two before they're competitive again. It's one of those things where you can't force the issue. It's a great series, but I understand from their perspective. They just don't feel like this is the time to play us."

Even our opponents don't respect us anymore. And when we go through our schedule next year and fail to win a game what will you all say then. What happened to "we only play the best?" Have our coaches already given up?

We had enough talent last year to win more than 3 games but the program was in shambles last year. This year will be no different. Kids are driving past our school to Amat, Servite, Bosco and even Cantwell.

To Just a worker: I see that you were using this blog during work hours. For your information WIlson is just an assistant coach. He is not the head coach. If you spent more time educating the kids that you are working with instead of a situation that is not your concern, things might look better for our school. If you have such a big problem with the decsion that the administration made from St. Paul, hey you have freedom of speech to express your feeling. But i see you would rather hide behind a blog.

Ancich and Crawley blew out the Willigs. Several other coaches who do not subscribe to A's 70's/80's era football will soon be gone.

With the kids that are leaving and with a bare cupboard it isn't out the realm of possibility for SP not to win a game for the next couple of years.

But you've let your love for the man cloud your vision. He still has a great football mind but between him and his cronies they have turned a once proud and storied program into a joke.

i work at st paul i wont disclose what capacity, wilson would be the worst possible choice. i remember when he attended the school, nothing but trouble. his family has huge problems and they will bring them to the school.

Commenting on people’s lives is Anthony Wilson, because it might not of cross your mind or his that John Glenn also has a extended family that is just as important as SP”s or maybe more important than a swordsmen, because we receive all the kids from our community, one large family. When the head coach at the football banquet says he has a better place to be, totally wrong and not the place and time. And during his coaching time at the school he is very condescending towards teachers and parents is a good measuring stick on what type of individual is in trusted to lead our young kids. I am Catholic and want a individual who cares first.

It is funny how everyone has a comment to make on other peoples lives. My Family on and off the field at St. Paul has always been ones to remember. My family has been both players and coaches to this school. We all seam to forget the religious purposes of all going to school. We all need to stop judging. Be thankful that we have people that want to come back and help our school. If anyone can do better, please give your resume'to the school. Everyone makes mistakes, we were all young once. Instead creating problems, give someone a chance.
I have read all the cooments on this page. For other people to take the time to talk crap about others shows that you are not a true alumi of this catholic school. There is one thing that i learned with all my family and friends at the school is to never set your goals to low. Shoot for the stars. Maybe Anthony will be a good addition... and maybe not... We will not know till later this year.
Whatever politics are playing and whatever people are saying i can tell you one thing, you will not find a better person that will help the kids learn, play and get an education that is needed to move on in this world. By bashing someone like everyone is doing, you are no better than the next.
I wish all my family members good luck at St.Paul. It will be a tough year but i think you will be surprised at the out come. For all the people at John Glen....Remember that someone took interest in educating you kids on and off the football field. He took interest in helping as much as he could. All he wanted was a full time job to continue what he was helping with and he was let down. Trust me when i tell you, he gave the school at John Glenn plenty of time to make a descion and it never came through. So before anyone continues the bad talking, speak to the administration at the school about the situation.

G. Gonzales is scared and doesn’t want to play anymore, wow what a tough football player. I’ll bet you were team captain at SP also. Fear is a crippling thing that will squeeze the very life out of you George; I mean you won’t be able to function. Stand for the slime and be counted.

The whole situation at SP is cronyism period, that always leads to favoritism and it ties the hands of the administration because of the piles of cronies they have to step on in order to fix a problem. Therefore, the whole situation become a travesty; just look of what happen to Coach Gonzales, after a championship year he is wracked.

When Miguel Olmedo coached the slime, they never beat Amat. That's why he only lasted 4 years, we ran him out of town, great tradition, Wow.

Hey swordsmen 93; we Amat still beat you slime like a drum, a very weak drum. No matter how hard you supposedly worked. In 93 we beat you weaklings 24 to 0 and the year before we slapped you guys around 28 to zero and we weren’t that strong that year, actually we own the slime.

Swordsmen 93 check yourself before you wreck yourself; you haven’t been around long enough to anoint yourself as a true Swordsmen. A real Swordsmen wouldn’t hide behind “my family goes back to the 70’s”, and your litmus test doesn’t hold water so shut up!!! Anthony Wilson is a gigantic mistake for the school to progress and not be left behind.

Please stop referring yourself or pretending to be a swordsmen, just because you attended St.Paul and played football doesn't make you a swordsmen. Just by reading your words is proof enough.
St.Paul has been in my family since the 70's…talk to us and you'll know what it means to be a swordsmen…You never bad mouth your family…
I've seen the decline of our school since Coach olmedo left as Head Coach…Back then we shaved our heads, had Hell week that lasted for Two weeks, Freshman entertainment lol, and we practice all day and all night, and we did something called bleachers …u can say we lived at St.Paul… … Other schools hated us because they couldn't be us. But now they laugh at us and for good reasons (I hate to say), why because we lost the old ways…Future swordsmen listed to my words, we did our talking on the field period. And what happens in practice stays in practice, stop crying to your parents.

Mr. Wilson needs our support, I don't need to know him just that he's a swordsmen is good enough.

To SPAlum take a good look at yourself , all you see is a wanna be swordsmen.

It’s beleaguer uneducated parasites like you and so-call coach, that are destroying SP, because of you wimpy insects don’t care about the school only self promotion. That is why enrollment is dropping like a rock, kids leaving in record numbers because of you and your clan. A. Wilson will be the final nail in the proverbial coffin. My graduating class is one ( not was, but is) of the most successful in school history; in addition, birds of a feather flock together so you as well have empty pockets and therefore cannot pay to watch the sunrise. I have watched the decline of my Alma mater for the last few years and it’s insidious individuals who are hallucinating on their so-call past high school experiences and think they have something to offer. We need real coaches and teachers in order to proceed forward.

I’m pretty sure 2001 was his senior year, because you are delusional with your remembrance of Anthony, I’ll dig out my annual and check for another A. Wilson Lol, I do know him like the back of my hand, come to think of it he knows the back of my hand as well. The following year we didn’t play Mater Dei we played Santa Margarita and Servite, so it is knucklehead Wilson. As to him; winning a few games as a high school head coach, even a blind squirrel will find a nut every now and then, assistant maybe at SP, head coach never! I would like to know how much did he pay you, can’t be much with his empty pockets.

Stop trying to act all tough SPAlum, I also played along side Wilson and graduated with him and now is a good life long friend. LA High was 42-0 but its kind of hard to believe that he got burned for yards when we shut them out. LOL. And there are 10 other players as well on the Defense that all did well. Wilson was a great leader. He never came off the field playing both ways...He out worked most of the team and represented a true Swordsmen. I remember him leading by example and not really by words. And to say you shut him up...Ha...I will say he did make mistakes but we all do. I never heard him blaming others...Oh and by the way, he did recieve a scholarship to a school in Minnesota Div 2 in which he started at full back. After one year he came back for personal reasons. Lastly, the proof is this, since you were on the team and others supposedly probably felt the same why you did, why was he unanimously voted team captain. Ask Coach A about that. Stop hating!!! Good luck Wil, you'll do a great job as an assistant and as a future Head Coach!!!

Anthony Wilson has zero respect from the coaching community and will never be taken seriously. He is lacking class and integrity. He never was offered any other head coaching jobs and never will in the future. Until he matures and stops thinking that he is God's gift to high school football, We will always laugh.

I played with Anthony in 2000 his senior year, my sophomore year; I didn’t think much of him then and now. Shannon Cooper was homecoming queen and that night we beat Alemany by a lot, when we won, it was about him and when we lost like to Mater Dei or Loyola that year he was the only one who played according to him, maybe that’s why he didn’t receive any scholarship offers. The night we beat an under man Los Angeles team 42 to 0 he still got burned for yardage but that didn’t keep his mouth shut until I shut it. He will never be the head coach at ST Paul unless we want to close the school down for good.

Coach Wilson did a good job at glenn, does he wish he could have done some things differently probably we all do. He has done the best he can and is moving on to his dream job and being able to try and resurrect a program he took pride in playing for. I congratulate him, and have learned a lot from him over the last 2 years. He will do a great job at St. Paul and i wish him the best with everything in his life. Thank you again for doing all that you could. For the parents who are upset you have a right to be upset but direct your anger in a positive manner and lets get the kids working harder so that we can win even more games this year and finally establish this program.

Ok so this season i watched as Kids where revitalized and enjoyed the program and finally finished a season without a losing record, a small victory but the playoffs would have been better. Wilson leaves a team that is graduating 20 plus seniors and has now to fill huge voids on the Offensive Line, and at QB. I wish him the best at St Paul, but i want the school to finally hire someone to stay for more than a few years they wonder why the school doesnt win more games their is not stability. This reflects the administration. I implore mrs. Granillo to please hire ray niemann, or Danny Hernandez they are the only ones equipped to take this program to the net level. If they are to be successful it will be one of these men at the helm.

while wilson did win a bunch of games, he also never gave the kids the credit they desereved, he never took blame for anything and it was always someone elses fault...his ego is waay too big for his coaching talents! as a parent i was never comfortable talking talking to him. I strongly feel Granillo needs to FINALLY take a step in the right direction and hire coach Danny...he is very family oriented and cares for the kids futures on and off the field...

I read all your comments on Coach Wilson. I can understand why you maybe feeling the way you do, but put yourself in his shoes. He got an opportunity to coach at a better school, a better division, for better pay, and that's his alma mater. He's a good coach, period. And what high school head football coach doesn't have an ego. Sure he didn't need the say what he said a the banquet, but I'm sure he's not awell groomed public speaker and he was just talking off the cuff. I do think it's unfortunate, but the ones you should hold blame or point your anger at is the Montbello School District who can't pay their coaches enough money to keep them. Think about it....St. Paul was probably Coach Wilson's dream job, he had to take it; like any of us would have if we were in his shoes. I wish him good luck..

Wow, a guy gives 2 years of his life sacrificing other job offers, making hardly any money for your kids and now he gets the chance to earn a decent living that Glenn couldnt offer and you complain. Your such hypocrets. No wonder why Glenn never wins. You Parents have no clue about things that are sometimes more important. (Stability/ Future) He did things no other coach has done. Leave him be and put this passionate focus on making sure your boys actually show up to practice!!!

Coach Wilson will take over by the end of the season. He's a head coach, he couldn't win with those kind of kids, lack of discipline and good work ethics just aren't there.

Its a tough loss for the Eagles but a great gain for the Swordsmen. Ancich needs a firery guy like Wilson. He will help bring the winning tradition back to SP. My son now will be playing for his 3rd head coach when they hire the new guy why cant they get anyone to stick around! I am so upset that they are struggling with this! Coach Wilson did a decent job but needs to mature he told all of us at the Banquet that he is going to be the Varsity Defensive Coordinatore and that he needs to worry about his wallet, and his family! My son was crushed by that considering how hard he has worked for him!

I cant begin to express the relief i feel as a member of the football family i am glad wilson is gone his ego was so big their was no room left for the kids. He is arogant and a jerk. My son is a sophmore on the team and i am glad wilson is leaving the administration was blind when they hired him i think that they need to go ahead and hire Coach Danny because he really cares abotu the kids i think he will lead us into the playoffs next year.!
