Newest CIF-SS Polls
In case anyone was interested, here is how our locals are ranked in the latest CIF-Southern Section Polls.
Baseball
Division 3
No. 6 El Rancho (unranked in preseason poll)
Division 4
No. 3 St. Paul (no change from preseason poll)
Division 5
No. 7 Whittier Christian (unranked in preseason poll)
Softball
No one ranked
Boys Volleyball
No one ranked
There are a few interesting changes. After strong tournament runs, both El Rancho and Whittier Christian made the baseball rankings. A brutal preseason scheduled knocked the La Mirada baseball team off its Div. 2 ranking while St. Paul remained unchanged in Div. 4. The La Mirada softball team also fell from its perch in Div. 2. The Whittier Christian softball team moved from No. 1 to "others" in Div. 5 while boys volleyball and softball had no representation.

I love your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you create this website yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you? Plz reply back as I'm looking to create my own blog and would like to know wheere u got this from. thanks
Bring back Frank Larenzello "Principal", Barr is killing us, she is beautiful as a button, but we will be an all girl school before we know it. The curse has move to the baseball team.
Well Mark Manzano, if you were at today’s game and saw the (many errors by at least 4 players) bad news bears play against Amat, it’s evident that something is going on. Encinas, not only did he get hit all over the place; he made a very bad base running error. Because of favoritism the coaches don’t have control of the team.
Wilson, strikes out again like always, plus an error and even Chico made an error, should have received two. Coaches you have a lot of players in the dugout just watching, shame on you. Hell I could not watch anymore!
talk about favoritism. My son is a three sport varsity player. The varsity baseball is one of the worst i have ever seen, I thought little league was. An example; my son has never sat on the bench as a baseball player until this year, his senior year. Coming into this year i had several conversations with the head coach. His response to his not playing is because "he plays three sports and he his usually behind because he late after finishing in the CIF playoffs for soccer." Coming into this season he is the #3 catcher. So my son goes on a religious retreat for the school, for 3 days. during that time, the two catchers ahead of him got hurt. When he came back from his retreat, he should be the number one catcher, but as it turns out, he puts his favorite player who has no catching experience as the starting catcher. My son has caught at SP all four years, so talk about FAVORITISM. I still have a lot to say.
This must be "a" St.Paul person;

To ST. PAUL....it is "an" not "a" in your sentence.
To Anonymous....at least the guy didn't use "there" in his sentence. I think we all knew what he meant.
Amazing, thing got to get better over "there".

Kid, parent or a alum; learn to spell, first, please.

I'm not even sure some of these so-called SP bloggers are even from SP. Doesn't really matter. Why do you even rise up to take thier bait?
It's their, not thier bait?........Wow! Must be a teacher because times are hard!
Area Fan:
Nice pitching by AJ against Notre Dame. I wonder who they will use against La Salle today. Probably Gabe as it is a league game and then Willson tomorrow against Newbury Park?
Come on Anonymous;

The whole situation at SP is cronyism period, that always leads to favoritism and it ties the hands of the administration because of the piles of cronies they have to step on in order to fix a problem. Therefore, the whole situation become a travesty; just look of what happen to Coach Gonzales, after a championship year he is wracked.
Plenty of the Alum, who hate what's going on at SP!

Why don't you put that effort into talking about the games you see? You've been around the sport awhile. I'd rather hear you breakdown a team on why they might or might now be winning or what it will take for them to win.
I'm sure you've seen several games so far this year. What are your thoughts on those games? Why is Whittier sneaking up on everyone? Why is La Mirada 3-6? Is this Salinas kid from La Habra for real? What about the hitting tear the Whittier Christian boys are on?
Don't hate....participate!
Anonymous..I stated "the way I see it, it may not be the truth". And from year to year every team has a true right to improve. I do not mind at all St. Paul improving considerably against very good teams without Encinas pitching. I will respect that very much.
And I will not have to go to Orange County late in the CIF Playoffs to see a great game. I can just travel a few miles to St. Paul
What I do not like is the BS from a lot of the bloggers from St. Paul.

You make some good points. Like you said, most of these guys have all played together at one time or another. We've got some good players that have come up through the local youth programs. True baseball fans know that. We should be celebrating these teams and players instead of bashing one another.
True Baseball Fan
Oh Oh St. Paul just beat Notre Dame Sherman Oaks 11-3 and Gabe didn't pitch. The offense scored 11 runs. SP 11 ND 3. Nice win SP!!
All this school bashing is so stupid. The reality is, most of the key players at St. Paul, Cal and La Serna played together and against each other for years at Whittier PONY, Murphy Ranch, Whittier, La Mirada, etc. and in travel ball. La Serna, Cal and St. Paul have had kids play in the Junior Olympics tournament in recent years (an amazing tournament of the best 16 year old players in the country). So there are good players all over. Yes, St. Paul has a good team, but as has been pointed out, without Gabe on the hill they are still good, but more ordinary- very close to La Serna and Cal. Still maybe a pitcher stronger, but basically equal teams. A private school can attract better players, and Casey assembled a nice team. Best in the area in recent years. But all this "they'd kill them" talk is just BS. The area baseball level is pretty high and competitive, with some schools up and some down from year to year. The true test for the SP program will be how competitive it will be in CIF D4 when Encinas, Willson, etc are gone.
Sports Fan Original:
Say what you want about St. Paul but I feel their pitching staff is lot better than you give them credit for. Yes, their record may not reflect that but if the defense does not make the plays it does not matter who is pitching.
Their defense has been up and down this year. If they were more consistent I'd see them at 6-4 or even 7-3.
They have played the toughest schedule in the area and probably one of the more tougher ones in the section. Games against D1 teams, JSerra, Mater Dei, Capo Valley, Milliken, Servite and Esperanza and D2 teams Foothill and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (who SP beat 10-3 today). Then with games in the next 7 days against D1 Newbury Park and then Amat. I think they have more then held their own.
Am I a St. Paul homer? Heck yes! I enjoy baseball for what it is. I think it is great that we got some good teams in the area to go and watch. I've been several of the area teams and will see more.
Unlike you I will not use this blog as a forum to put down teams or spread negativity.
You seem to know something about baseball. Too bad you don't focus your efforts (or as you said - "the way I see it") in bringing us insight into each of the teams you see.
This has to be a typo;
Division 3
No. 6 El Rancho (unranked in preseason poll)
We can't wait, the can of whipass is being shaken, ready for an eruption.
When Encinas pitches SP can beat just about anybody(If their defense makes all the plays). It is without Encinas pitching that they still have a lot to prove. (sports fan original raggers: no it is not fact, it is the way I see it)
very original "we are" hmmm, MARSHALL! oh yeah, forgot you like to take what belongs to others. As for their baseball program. geez, Encinas can't pitch every game. Amat has owned, will own, and will always own St.Paul in any sport especially baseball.
So the blinders are off and I see a dismal season for St.Paul. PERIOD!
Campa,
Any word on who will coaching the 605 All-Star Game this year? I would hate to go on rumor....What about the boundries this year, since it's going to a North vs. South format?....Any news...
Thank you in advance for the info....
Anonymous turn off your blinders son, with victories over Mater Dei and Servite St. Paul will be very competitive in their division. People come on here and bash an area team for playing tough teams. I understand that hey you lose some you win some but if you were to give St. Paul anybody elses schedule in the area they would most likely be undefeated. I am not knocking on any other area teams but it is true.
you know what, cal hi is not that good, so worry about your weak baseball team or school, SP would kill them, cal is the joke.
because we are SP, we are SP! how you like me now? ST PAUL!
what a joke st. paul remains unchanged. They are stinking up the joint with their offense. Guess it pays off to know people in high places
