A La Habra High School football official announced that Highlanders junior cornerback and punt returner Michael Sparling was offered a scholarship from Southern Methodist University on Tuesday afternoon.
Apparently, word has not spread on the offer as it has yet to be reported by rivals.com.
According to rivals, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound junior has medium interest from Arizona State, BYU, Iowa State, Rice, San Diego State along with SMU.
Sparling posted 44 tackles last season while he also returned two punts for scores.
