Schurr High School football alumnus Mike Diaz, also a Cerritos College and University of Arizona product, concluded a three-day workout with the Cleveland Browns last weekend with aspirations of earning a free-agent contract.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Diaz just ended a two-year stint with Arizona, where he was a starter at offensive tackle.

"He's hoping he did enough to get a deal," Schurr assistant coach Victor Salazar said. "Now, he's just waiting for a phone call."

In his regular-season finale, Diaz helped lead the Wildcats to a 21-17 upset over USC at the Coliseum, which wrapped up second place in the Pac-10 for Arizona and a berth in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.

"My favorite memory about Arizona is going to be the pregame and bonding," Diaz said. "I'm going to miss my teammates."

Salazar said Diaz is keeping his options open and isn't bound to only trying out for the NFL.

"Right now, he just wants to continue playing football," Salazar said. "He even told me that he was going to try out for a Canadian Football League team next week."

Neat blog layout! Very easy on the eyes.. i like the colors you picked out

You know, one option to watching all NFL games is to subscribe to an expensive dedicated sports network just like you do for premium movie channels. But the downside of that of course is that it is costly, as in every month. Surely there must be a better way.

Amazing freakin blog here. I almost cried while reading it!

please dont think Garcia is better than Mike, he is 6'8" 360lbs,

but he did'nt even start on the high school team hes at U of A because of his size. Watch he wont get any playing time this year, but will get another MYSTERIOUS injury.

I wish Mike Diaz luck and hopes he makes it to the professional level, but I do believe his buddy Philip Garcia has a better shot of making it to the NFL.
