I apologize for not posting earlier on the Rio Hondo College baseball team. Hopefully, those interested in the Roadrunners progress read the articles in the paper or online.
Rio Hondo's season came to an end in Saturday's CCCAA State Final Four Championships final elimination bracket contest versus College of San Mateo.
Rio (32-12) started the tournament Friday with an 18-6 thumping of San Mateo but lost significant steam when it was defeated by eventual state champion Ohlone College, 11-2, in Saturday afternoon's championship bracket semifinal.
With less than an hour break, the Roadrunners then turned around and faced a fresher San Mateo team, who knocked them off 16-4.
Congratulations to the Roadrunners for finishing third in state overall and advancing to the school's first-ever state tournament. Hopefully, this is the start of a few similar runs.
