Two More Locals Are Drafted
Two more local players were drafted as the Major League baseball draft wrapped up today.
Whittier resident Garret Levsen and La Mirada alumnus Adam Gaylord were the last two locals to receive calls.
Levsen was drafted No. 876 by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 29th round.
Levsen played for Sonora this season and was one half of arguably the Freeway League's most dominant duo that included he and teammate Jimmy Litchfield.
Levsen was 9-4 this past season with a 2.26 ERA and 80 strikeouts over 80 2/3 innings pitched.
Gaylord was taken No. 928 in the 31st round by the Baltimore Orioles.
The former La Mirada star was a four-year contributor with the Stanford Cardinal, batting .232 in 31 games this year in the infield.
