Cal Fan this post is about the SF tournament of champions. If the St Paul Swordsmen would of attended the competition we SP would of took it. Why wont Cal Hi play SP? Whittier and La Serna wont either. Why?

His tenure at Cal was nothing to brag about but, his supporters think he was the second coming for the program. Not everyone drank his Kool Aid, including his bosses. He DEFINITELY deserves credit for the players that were left during Arnold's first season, I will give him that. I respect your opinion & enjoyed the discussion Anonymous.

Cal Fan the first time he was at Ceritos he turned it around. Yes I call that good coaching. Do your research because he took them to the playoffs after several down years. I have no reason to lie. Yes the second time at Ceritos was miserable but you cannot blame the staf in its only year. The program was miserable when he got there.
The forfeit loss at Cal was for some third string guy he did not recruit. Dont accuse him of recruiting a third string guy because he is smarter than that. All of us (many, many, many)parents of ex condors know him. You haters say what you must, but he inspired our boys and some credit for the 2007 (Arnolds first)season must be given to him.

I'm not here to bash Ancich but, here are a couple of FACTS for you Anonymous concerning his turning around a program. He did not turn around Cerritos when he got there. He was there for 1 year and won 1 game if my memory serves me correctly. There was no playoffs & he bailed after that successful turn-a-round. The year prior to him arriving @ Cal, they went 7-3 overall & 4-1 in league. The year after that, his first @ Cal, he went 3-7 overall & 0-5 in league. He had 1 decent year @ Cal once he was able to get his transfers in and then he was shown the door. He also has to his credit, a forfeited loss against Santa Fe that year for an illegal player. Are these considered successful turn arounds in your book?

I do not think so. I do not think he went after Grigsby, I think wiht the name Ancich, Grigsby made the first made the move.

The school that ran him out. Why was it homecoming? Because he tought it was a gimme, that's why. It wasn't even a league game.

I have no problem giving credit where it is due. Ancich is a good motivator & salesman. X's & O's I don't think so. Finding a coach with both qualities is tough. Ancich tried to run his program just like his dad. When he rebuilds, he brings in transfers at any cost. The Grigsby move was cheating at its best, what would you call it, a lucky break?. IMO that is not the way it should be done & the Cal admin finally had enough. The parents loved him along with the players and I have no problem with that. The problem is Cal is public not private and that is the reason he was run. In the best interest of the school, they decided to go in a different direction. It's as simple as that.

As far as talent, I stated only that Villa Park had more than Cal, period. I was not assessing their program against anyone else except Cal that night. That QB did throw a number of picks that night. It's called scheming & breaking down film, which the staff at Cal did much better than Villa Park did.

I have a problem with the continual desire for the current staff to fail. This has been going on for the last 3 years and it's comical that these loyalists continue to spew their dribble.

Cal Fan I do not favor one or the other. Both did a real good job at Cal and both are still under evaluation obviously by people like you and me.

No I did not see the game and only saw Cal two times and never attended a Villa Park game. If so then Arnold is more disciplined than Ancich (and Ancich may have a big mouth, I dont know)but it certainly does not make him a better coach. I have no idea who is better because both have been successful one in building up a team (several times)and another with retaining a good program. Time will tell.

One thing concerns me though is if Villa Park has so much talent why all the down years,a poor program before Ancichs first full season this year which was very very successful? You give him no credit. When he was at Cal parents and players gave him plenty of credit (well deserved) and you are trying to discredit him. Are you suggesting all those parents were wrong, that they did not know better. I hope not, because they knew. If so, you are insulting those parents. The statistics are on his side, just as Arnolds statistics are on his side. Me like many community members looked forward to that matchup and I honestly looked forward to reading the newspaper the next morning to get the results. What was the final score? Didn't their QB throw like five or six interceptions? I heard they had zero team speed. Talent? Where did it come from all of a sudden when Ancich appeared? He must be lucky. Why don't you just give them both credit? You speak very harshly toward him, talking about him cheating, etc. Bad. Is this personal? You will never succeed at downplaying Ancich's ability. At least not until his teams get worse. But that has not happened yet at the three schools in which the programs have improved under him. Statistics are against you. Lets give them both credit, local boys doing well. What is wrong with that?
