Has the La Habra/La Mirada Game Lost its Luster?
What was supposed to be a showdown between Daily News No. 1 La Habra and No. 2 La Mirada, the CIF-Southern Section Southwest Division champ vs. the CIF-SS Southern Division champ and Orange County vs. Los Angeles County, has fizzled a bit into a battle of two 0-1 teams on Thursday at 7 p.m. at La Habra.
La Habra's Michael Sparling may not have stood out in this photo but his comments were certainly hard to miss
La Mirada was soundly beaten by St. Paul 24-17 last Friday while La Habra was a tough-luck loser to Orange Lutheran on the same evening, 21-17.
There was even word that La Habra quarterback Cody Clements (Washington State) and La Mirada running back Max Gama (Washington State) and wide receiver Aaryn Bouzos (Nebraska) might all miss the game.
Clements is listed as questionable for the game after injuring his knee Friday. Gama has the best chance of playing after La Mirada coach Mike Moschetti said the senior "had his bell rung" against St. Paul. Bouzos, however, hyperextended his knee against St. Paul and is listed as day-to-day.
Even with the injuries, La Habra defensive back Michael Sparling is still looking forward to playing his neighboring rival. Sparling told the paper on Tuesday that the Highlanders were disappointed with their defeat to Orange Lutheran and that was bad news for La Mirada.
"We'll definitely take our anger out on them, especially with all the hype they have," Sparling said. "It will be a good game. Hopefully we can smash on them."
Sparling has committed to Southern Methodist University and the Orange County Register recently listed the senior as one of the county's top defensive backs.
Let's hope for a good game.

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
I am not in reality definite if best tactics have emerged nearly things like that, but I am sure that your great job is visibly discovered. I was thinking if you offer any registration to your RSS feeds as I would be extremely concerned.

WHO CARES ABOUT THIS GAME... ITS ALL ABOUT SPARLING AND SMU MAKING A BCS CHAMPIONSHIP RUN IN A FEW YEARS! PONY UP!!!!!!!!!
La Mirada wins the rest of their games. You saw it here first.
michael sparling is the best secondary in the area
i think he can say what he wants. I believe LM is overrated LM got super lucky last year by winning c.i.f noted thats the worst div. and i dont know how 5 Div.1 players cant beat st.paul but st.paul should not get too confident because LH would beat st.paul bad!
La Habra is still a class ballclub. The loss of their big running back Quezada is a great loss, but they are still a big time ball club until proven not to be.
A loss to Orange Lutheran is OK. Even if they are not as good as a few years past, they still deserve to be classified as a very good club.
whats lm got to complain about they got outcached by a legend again they have a def coord who is there ath dir dropping f-bombs and g-d bombs and calling them the p word i was embarrassed to attend a high school football i which i attended in the late 70 saventies.get rid of brooks he is a embarrassing indidviual
So if LM gets blown out by 40+ like last year, does that take the shine of St Paul win? How about if LM loses all 4 of their pre league games? Then goes on to win their league? Does a 40+ point win take the bruise off a LH loss and prove they are a good team... until a big loss to Servite? The truth is all of this is just a product of newspaper hype until the game is played... Then and only then will we see who has the better team and how they stack up... If there is anything to be gained from the "shock" of last week’s results it is this... "Let the teams play and let the scoreboard do the talking"...
PS I think it would be good for Mr. Sparling to save a little of that anger for the boys from Servite. I think he is about to receive a lesson in humility.
itl be a masacre...!!!CLAN PRIDE
Burning Questions for Week 1 ...

Can La Mirada avoid embarrassment?
The word on the street was that the Matadores were going to be 1-0 heading into this week's showdown with La Habra. St. Paul didn't get that word, and the Mats are 0-1 and those who feel who they had a shot vs. La Habra just a month ago have suddenly gone silent. While an outright win is looking like a long shot, La Mirada needs to avoid being blown out to salvage any sort of respect it still has in the "we're a big-time program" debate.
It will be a good game to watch. Good luck both teams. Griffin playing?
Should , still, be a good game. Both teams have enough talent to make it interesting.
