Reporting Scores to the Sports Desk
With all sports in action this week, which include girls volleyball, cross country, girls golf, girls tennis and boys water polo, there are two ways to get results/box scores in the Daily News sports section.
Either the coach, an assistant coach or designated team parent should call our sports desk after 5 p.m. each night to report scores. Call 562-698-0955 and use extension 2233, 2242 or 2161. If you would like to email boxscores, which we strongly encourage, email to scores@sgvn.com, and leave a contact number in case we have any questions. If you're not sure what to include in your boxscore, feel free to call the sports desk and ask.
We need scores called in by 8:30 p.m. for publication the next day. That's for the fall. We usually back the deadline up to 9:15 for the winter and basketball.
FOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
For girls volleyball, we need the score of each game/set and the records of both teams involved, whether is was a league or nonleague match, and where the match took place. We're also taking stats for anyone who finished with 10 or more kills, 7 or more blocks and 5 or more aces.
FOR GIRLS TENNIS
For girls tennis, we need the name of each singles player and doubles tandem that participated for both teams (For the visitors, last names will suffice) and how they fared. We don't need match scores but whether a singles player or double tandem finished 2-1 or 0-2 or 1-0 overall that day. We also need to know if the match was league or nonleague and the final records of each team.
FOR CROSS COUNTRY
For cross country, we need to know if it was a league or nonleague race and what course. Then we need the final team score and the top 5 overall finishers of the race and their respective times. That includes top 5 boys and top 5 girls and each team's final points.
FOR BOYS WATER POLO
We need score by quarter, each the name of each person that scored, total number of shots, total number of goalie saves, the name of each goalie, each team's final record and whether the game was league or nonleague.
It is imperative to have information on the other team as well (especially if it's a local team). Just a last name will suffice.

Love the blog here. Nice colors. I am definitely staying tuned to this one. Hope to see more.
I love the expression. Everyone needs to express there own opinion and feel free to hear others. Keep it up :)
Keep focusing on your blog. I love how we can all express our feelings. This is an extremely nice blog here :)
It is a blessing to a woman. You need to know to celebrate womanhood by Replica Handbags Top .
I just hope those rent a writers do a better job than they did last week. One blogger said your paper did not even mention Cal's qb getting hurt. A second year starter and member of a great team last year gets hurt and no mention of it.
Please give us some info about our local Whittier teams, even if they get blown out.
