Keep focusing on your blog. I love how we can all express our feelings. This is an extremely nice blog here :)

I’d like to say that you always offer valid information and I have been an fascinated reader of your site for quite some time. I wanted to say thankyou really :) for all the good work you do!

Amazing freakin blog here. I almost cried while reading it!

You should really think about working on developing this website into a major authority in this market. You clearly have a grasp handle of the subjects everyone is looking for on this website anyways and you could definitely even make a dollar or two off of some advertising. I would explore following recent topics and raising the amount of write ups you put up and I guarantee you’d begin seeing some awesome traffic in the near future. Just a thought, good luck in whatever you do!

Big Oso,

I read your word and I was moved by your depiction of your efforts to teach your son life lessons and impact his character while leaving him his personality that you obviously love. Whether he plays football or not in the future, he will be indelibly changed by his experiences winning and losing. I recommend he (you) together read Tennyson's, "Charge of the Light Brigade" and Kipling's "If". I commend you and I sincerely hope that your son realizes how lucky he is to have you as his father. It sounds as if you already realize how lucky you are to have him.

I am a La Serna fan and remember many of the bitter battles with Cal over the last 6-7 years. I also believe that everyone is best served when the competition is fierce and winning bring credit to everyone in the league. I hope that the Cal team gets the issues worked out and can return to form before DRL. They have a fine Head Coach and a great winning tradition to draw upon. I look forward to meeting on the field in 7 weeks and win or lose, may it be injury free.

Senior Parents: do not wait for juniors, there are a few that enjoy this game and it is obvious by their play, especially number 52 Miguel and a few others, Dankert having played with a sore neck, etc.

We need to get the line blocking for more than one count and the Defensive backs, who gave us warning of a problem over the summer, and their coach was not there much of the summer, which is now turning into huge problems because this is what counts not passing league.

Schurr is very tough and hopefully we play our best, but with Montebello coming up there is no reason not to get a little momentum into league.

What is wrong with the punt team structure. Three games three blocked punts at crucial times when we were very much in the game.

It is great to hear your response Big Oso. As far as next year goes, it is a pretty good group who I think was in every game as freshmen. But, the way this year is going, the end result may be pretty negative. And sometimes that is hard to overcome in the future.
There are some juniors that are pretty good team players and want to win real bad. I think the seniors need to lead better, because if they appear down, like someone blogged last night, the team will follow. They must not show their frustration, they need to talk to the better juniors, Dankert and the LB Miguel, and a few others, and begin a new attitude. The talent is not so bad and like I said the playoffs are very much in reach.
The seniors need to believe they can do it and act like it. Especially the experience ones on the line, Siepek, and Max. They need to play every play like it is their last.
And the coaches need to show that they believe they can turn the season around. No more Arreola, beyers and the big center and tight end to block for a Grigsby like Jones. As far as I am concerned this is a big test for them. Four similar teams talent wise will battle for the third CIF berth (the way I see it) and the leadership, as you said, must come from the top, the coaches. They have an average group that is under achieving, now can they improve them. And it all starts mentally.
The talent next year may be a little better, but that is questionable. No more teams that had great freshmen seasons. Coaching will be the difference. You cant start a fire without a spark, and a spark is necessary right now.

I feel your pain (Cal High Parent of a Senior). My son is also a senior on the team. Trust me, he knows the importance of his senior year. Every day after practice I see his frustration. I remind him that character in a man is not always defined when times are prosperous but defined in how you respond when there is adversity in life. It's not always an easy sell because he is one that hates losing more than he likes winning! He is very passionate about the game and I very much admire him for it. I never want to take that away from him.

The problem with this years team is it's very young. Now don't get me wrong, this isn't an excuse for their bad performances. Young teams need more guidance and dicipline. This is where the Head Coach steps in. It's his responsibility to have his team working together as one heart beat and not as individuals. What is happening here is the perfect example of the " ME" generation. A generation that feels it is entitled to success and doesn't have to work hard to achieve it. There are a lot of players on this team believing they should wear the condor uniform because they show up to practice. They need to be taught that being a Condor is a priveledge not a right! This should have been manifested in them at the start of their freshmen year. Sometimes with young teams, you need to work them hard so they can appreciate the fruits of their labor. What is going on now are players riding the coat tails of last years success!

I'm starting to see a division among the few seniors that were apart of last years team. They are very frustrated because of the complaining from the younger players. They feal the younger players don't want to put the effort neccessary to turn the season around. They hear talk of "wait til next year". There is no next year for most of the seniors!

I vow to you (Cal High Parent of a Senior) my son will give his blood and sweat for his team in practice and on game day! I wouldn't allow him to play if he didn't!

Cal high parent of a senior said:

Pretty sad tonight. I am very concerned about this season. The team played hard but did not appear to be very excited after they got behind. I hate to see a team lose the fire.

I do realize that the most important part of the season is ahead but I and other senior parents are very concerned because this is our sons last season. Very few have the ability to go on to the next level. I still think the battle for third is up in the air and the team that is coached the best will qualify for the playoffs. Maybe I should say the team that has the most spirit and love for the game will benefit. I just hope the kids are motivated.
The candle appears to be burning low. I say that because they played an average team tonight as far as past season statistics go. I did not think we should have given up 35 points. Yes I know there are injuries, but excuses do not work. I think they should have been on fire tonight, finally playing a very average team.
I just hope the players still believe they can win, even though they appeared relatively spiritless after falling behind tonight.
If there are any other senior parents that read these blogs I ask you to motivate your sons and make them realize that the most important part of the season is ahead of us. Even last year we were in trouble early on and just one big win kind of changed the whole season around. Really it was two big wins in a row because Whittier almost beat us but we made some big plays and were fortunate to beat them. With that confidence the team became almost unbeatable, even being ahead of Charter Oak in the middle of the third quarter.
My main worry is that the candle may be burning low (I hope I am wrong and I hope that what I see is totally incorrect) and the slightest of breezes may put out the light. And that would be terrible because football can teach those kids much about life. It is not being down that counts but how you act when you are down. What are you going to do about it?
Unfortunately not many teenagers are educated enough to know that and WE must teach them.
Good luck Cal and I hope we turn it around

I just got home from La Serna/La Mirada.....the Lancers won on 32-28 on a late deep touchdown pass.... right after that score La Mirada sacked the La Serna QB on fourth down at mid field with 3 minutes to go in the game, but a personal foul face mask penalty during the sack gave La Serna the first down and put a major hit in La Miradas psyche....i was on the LM sideline, i felt it, i saw it....they got the ball back at their own 30 with 1:30 left but fumbled it as La Serna sacked the QB and that was that.....17-14 at Halftime La Serna, this game just went back and forth...I've seen La Mirada 3 times now (St Paul, La Habra before this) and am wondering how they went 13-1 last year...the Southeast Division playoff run will be a dog fight to the end!
