Although it seems like the blog has been on a little vacation, I would better classify the down time as a recovery from intensive care.
There were several monster games tonight. Here are the recaps. Just to give an update, Fullerton-La Habra and Schurr-Bell Gardens missed tonight's deadline and will be available in print in Sunday's paper.
My apologizes but the blog continues to be troublesome. Apparently, every comment posted since Sunday has been deleted and no new comments are being accepted. This picks post was supposed to come on yesterday and didn't. Hopefully, the problems will be solved soon.
Here's Thursday's area injury report.
It's on to the third Week 6 video prediction/breakdown with a new guest, Pasadena Star-News preps editor Miguel Melendez. Here we talk about the Olympic League opener as Maranatha (5-1) of Pasadena stokes an old rivalry with host Whittier Christian (5-1) at Whittier College on Friday at 7 p.m.
It's on to the second Week 6 video prediction/breakdown with SGVfootballer Aram Tolegian. Here we talk about the Mission League opener as No. 3 St. Paul (4-1) travels to new league rival Cathedral (4-1) Friday at 7 p.m.
It's on to the first Week 6 video prediction/breakdown with SGVfootballer Aram Tolegian. Here we talk about the Del Rio League showdown as Daily News' No. 2-ranked La Serna (4-1) invades No. 4 El Rancho (4-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.

It's time for Game Balls for Week 5 and there were quiet a few impressive efforts last Friday.
There were a great slate of games tonight. Here are the recaps.
The posting problems continue. This was supposed to come out yesterday and did not. But here's the info for Friday (sorry Pioneer).
As we've progressed through the season, the picks have become easier and easier to make although there are still a few upsets now and then.
It's on to the second Week 5 video prediction/breakdown with SGVfootballer Aram Tolegian. Here we talk about the area small-school Super Bowl as Whittier Christian (5-0) invades Cantwell Sacred Heart (4-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. in a battle of the area's last two unbeatens.
It's on to the first Week 5 video prediction/breakdown with SGVfootballer Aram Tolegian. Here we talk about a pretty solid area nonleague football game between surging Schurr and solid St. Paul at Monsignor Cranham Stadium Friday at 7:30 p.m.
For some reason, a few of my posts were deleted this week, so I'm trying to catch up. Let's start with game balls for the previous week.
There's no question the biggest game this Friday is Whittier Christian (5-0) at Cantwell Sacred Heart (4-0) at 7 p.m. My esteemed colleague Aram Tolegian, from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, is calling the contest "the someone's O has got to Go" game.
While there are two undefeated teams in the area there are also three teams without a win heading into the midway point of the season. Of those teams, who are you most concerned about and are any a threat to make the playoffs?
There was some thrillers and some tough results for our area teams. Here are the recaps.

There was an error in today's capsule section of the newspaper. The La Mirada vs. Artesia Suburban League opener was listed as a home game for La Mirada.
That's a mistake.
The game is at Artesia at 7 p.m. and is in fact Artesia's homecoming. The paper regrets the error and I take full responsibility for not catching the mistake. I offer my sincere apology.
