Video Takes: Schurr at St. Paul (Week 5)

| | Comments (29) |

It's on to the first Week 5 video prediction/breakdown with SGVfootballer Aram Tolegian. Here we talk about a pretty solid area nonleague football game between surging Schurr and solid St. Paul at Monsignor Cranham Stadium Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Spartans followed up a bad loss to Cantwell Sacred Heart (49-28) with a better effort in a loss to Downey (29-26). Schurr then responded with a gritty come-from-behind win over El Toro (29-28) and then survived a tough battle with California (28-23) last week. Spartans senior quarterback Aaron Cantu turned in a vintage effort versus California last Thursday.

Cantu completed 20 of 29 passes for four touchdowns and 315 yards. Not be to forgotten in that game were the efforts of receivers Abraham Gonzalez (four receptions for 123 yards) and Chris Chiaromonte (7 receptions for 88 yards).

As for St. Paul, the Swordsmen secondary has shined brightest, intercepting four passes versus Ayala last week and seven for the season. The Swordsmen have returned three of the those interceptions for touchdowns, including when AJ Gonzalez returned a pick for a touchdown last week against Ayala. It will be interesting to see if Schurr's passing game can defeat St. Paul's pass defense.

Not simply is the MyFonts logo deserving, but when you may have notsubscribed to their electronic mail newsletters, they are superbly designed.

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, bcheap shirt wholesaleut I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

First Impression of St Paul, I thought it was wonderful the game started with a prayer for both teams, but after that one Christian moment, a school with no class, fans with poor attitudes and fowl language and they were winning, and in looking at the comments it seems that Christian conduct is only practiced when convenient

Anonymous im going to let you tell me my fortune, your a genious!

Should of been 42-0 that TD was garbage.... There was a penalty that happened before the guy scored but they gifted them the 6 points out of pity.

Let's just say Anonymous has high hopes but realistically SP should win 28-24. SP defense has scored at least one TD in the last two games and that needs to continue tonight. SP offense needs to gel just a bit more to become a high powered offense. Perfecting the run to set up the pass is the goal. I see this happening very soon. Good luck to SP tonight!

GO SWORDSMEN!

Anonymous,

I don't think it's gonna be quite that lopsided.

Anonymous, really? Really? Come on bro! SP is having a outstanding non-league season, great job & good luck in league. But compete with the D1 programs? Not this year, not next (maybe 15 years ago), not the one after that, etc. The D1 game has passed ol' SP like a sky rocket in the night (afternnon delight). Hey, I should write a song.

Saw Schurr play Cal last week in a game Cal could have won. Cantu is a good accurate QB with good receivers who get good YAC after the catch. Cal didn't put much pressure on Cantu. SP will need to put the pressure on. SP, also, needs to control the ball with their running game. Should be fun to watch.

anonymous ur an idiot 42 to 7? really? i admit st.paul is gunna win but i say st.paul 31 schurr 21.. and who knows if schurr could beat el toro then they have a shot at beating st.paul...also serra is going to smash st.paul easily

Anonymous said:

Campa St Paul COULD play with D1 schools just not this year... what are you talking about. Watch us beat Serra so you can look like a fool once again like you did when you said la mirada was going to kill us. Schurr is no where near our level, St Paul 42 Schurr 7
