WDN Elite 13: La Habra, eying another Freeway League title, stays at the top

| | Comments (8) |

1. (1) La Habra (6-3) -- The Highlanders go for another Freeway League title when they host Troy on Thursday, which could be the first step toward another CIF-SS title.
2. (2) St. Paul (6-3) -- The Swordsmen still have the look of the area's second-best team, but the rigors of the Mission League is taking it's toll. They are still alive for a playoff berth, but its pretty slim.
3. (3) Santa Fe (5-4) -- The Chiefs, after wrapping up the Del Rio League, will be a force in the Southeast Division.
4. (4) La Mirada (5-4) -- Don't count out the Mats in the Southeast after obliterating Mayfair, 44-14.
5. (5) Whittier Christian (6-3) -- The Heralds wrapped up another Olympic League crown, now look to get back to the Mid-Valley finals.
Others: 6. La Serna (7-2); 7. Cantwell (6-3); 8. Cal (6-3), 9. El
Rancho (5-4); 10. Schurr (3-6), 11. Montebello (3-6); 12. Whittier
(4-5); 13. Pioneer (1-8).

@Andrew

The only reason you guys for televised was because of Servite not LH LOL get I've yourselfs until you guys win a state title then you can talk. Btw VP will beat you guys this year they are ranked #1 in your division and I have seen them in action. Don't get your hopes up

@ SP SUPPORTER. Your right the State info was false, but the rest of what I posted is entirely true! Here's something that is also true. La Habra is ranked higher in the State and Nationally than St. Paul, Check MAX PREPS! La Habra also goes up against better quality Opponents than St. Paul. I would like to see you guys go against Servite, Orange Lutheran, and St. John Bosco consecutively! We take care of business in our league unlike you guys, who will yet again miss the playoffs for a consecutive year. St. Paul offense is predictable its 90% run and 10% of passing. LOL I've seen it from the stands. I will give St. Paul this though, you guys dominated the 70's back when Joe Paterno was young! LOL
La Habra has had their games televised by Fox Sports West unlike your team. Your team gets televised for hazing. "LA HABRA #1 IN THE AREA" St. Paul is the Jv team in the area!

Yeah, the Santa Fakes...pretenders to excellence, with even less to talk about than the Highlanders!

Again tonight Santa Fe will be a league champ after smashing on Pioneer and that will give them 19 in their school history. Which to people that know football it doesn't mean crap! But they'll love to make mention of it everytime! Haha they were known as Semi-FE before finally getting to the cif finals and than getting whooped by Schurr high school who they clearly they had more talent than! Just like they do every year, they always have more talent than everyone but come up with nothing! I bet mahlstede would trade in all those league championships for 1 CIF title!! Lol all those years and 0 CIF titles! And this year they have one player and no passing game, no chance..! A CIF championship caliber team isn't down to Whittier high school 6-0 at the half..

@Andrew La Harbra has never played in state game ever they are div 6 there is no state game for that div. They have CIF titles not state titles not one. St paul won CIF in div 3 in 2007. Check the your info befor posting false info next time.

STATE CHAMPIONS "2003,2007,2008,2009,2010"
LEAGUE CHAMPIONS "1999,2000,2002,2003,2004,2005,2007,2008,2009,2010"
CIF TITLES: "2002,2003,2007,2008,2009,2010"
DOMINANCE!!!!!!!!!!! FROM LA HABRA

ST. PAUL HIGH SCHOOL "TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS"
CIF TITLES: "1968,1972,1981"

LOOK AT THE NUMBERS LA HABRA WINS HANDS DOWN FOR THREE REASONS 1.FIVE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, 2.SIX CIF TITLES, 3. DID ALL OF THIS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, WHERE ST.PAUL HASENT WON ANYTHING MEANINGFUL SINCE THE EARLY 80'S.

(Shame to anyone who feels La Habra has had an easy road on its way to dominance.) What…?… St Paul is the most dominance team for 40 + years. Swordsmen forever!

Thanks, Steve, for making such prominent mention of the upcoming barnburner at La Habra, when the #1 Highlanders (who got rings and have been dominant for a decade) take on one of Southern California's elite clubs, Troy.

This epic encounter could go either way, and I have been burning the midnight oil looking for a new angle on just how to figure this matchup. This is why La Habra's unprecedented run of league and division titles is so impressive: it has been earned by finding a way, somehow, to prevail in these titanic clashes of football excellence.

Shame to anyone who feels La Habra has had an easy road on its way to dominance.
