Arcade Fire performs at the Hollywood Bowl tonight

So in case you were wondering who the best bands at ACL were this year, I'm not going to tell you. As I only saw 32 of the 130 acts performing, so any best of statements would be pure hyperbole. But what I can tell you is that some of the bands I saw are worth checking out, and many are playing as soon as tonight in Los Angeles.

Starting with Arcade Fire and Damien Rice, tonight at the Hollywood Bowl and the Greek respectively. The Fire played the Greek recently and to a highly approving audience and are touring to support the critically acclaimed Neon Bible. LCD Soundsystem is opening at the Bowl and were also at ACL. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah finish out their three-night stand at the Troubadour tonight. Paolo Nutini plays Friday night at the Wiltern.

Other bands playing soon are Louis XIV at the Troubadour this Saturday, and the Arctic Monkeys at the Palladium on Sept. 25 and St. Vincent opens for the National Sept. 28 at the Wiltern. Kelly Willis plays Safari Sams on October 24 and Regina Spektor sings her heart out October 30 at The Wiltern. DeVotchKa plays with the Black Angels that same day at Barnsdall Art Park. Ghostland Observatory plays the Fonda Novemeber 30.

Bands to look for in the future are Amy LaVere, Trent Summar and Amos Lee.

All the photo galleries from Austin are now up. A wrap up of after shows is coming Friday. You can see the galleries here, here, and here.
