Kicking off a global campaign to promote increased literacy among children, Montblanc has announced their continued partnership with international organization UNICEF, as well a new association with singer Plácido Domingo, who will make a personal appearance at the Montblanc boutique in South Coast Plaza on Saturday (Sept. 8).

The brand recognized for its hallmark white star, classic timepieces, jewelry, and writing instruments, will release a special-edition of their Meisterstück 149 pen on September 8 – World Literacy Day – each with an optional celebrity signature engraving and packaged in a sleek black jacket touting the campaign slogan, “The Power to Write.” A portion of the sales will be donated to support UNICEF education programs in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Placido joins several other personalities across the US in support of the Montblanc and UNICEF campaign, including actress Lucy Liu.

As a brand for which reading and writing are the foundation of its culture, Montblanc signed on with the United Nations Children’s Fund and personalities like Lucy Liu, Robin Leach, and Goran Visnjic to help provide quality basic education for children around the world – a key in the fight to overcome poverty in a single generation.

.
“Montblanc is pleased to continue our relationship with UNICEF as we begin this exciting initiative,” said Jan-Patrick Schmitz, President & CEO of Montblanc North America. “As a global organization that embodies the idea of using education as a tool to combat issues like disease and malnutrition, UNICEF is our ideal partner. Both of our groups share a deep desire to help build a better world.”
