Foo Fighters have been nominated for five Grammy Awards, including their first ever nods in the Album of the Year and Record of the Year categories. This makes the Foos' career Grammy take a potential nine when the band attends the 50th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday, February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, to be broadcast live on CBS.

The full list of Foo Fighters' nominations is as follows: Album of the Year (Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace), Record of the Year ("The Pretender"), Best Rock Song ("The Pretender"), Best Rock Album (Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace) Best Hard Rock Performance ("The Pretender").

Of course Foo Fighters are no strangers to Grammy wins and nominations: the band's 2005 double opus In Your Honor received no less than five nominations, while their prior two albums, One By One and There Is Nothing Left To Lose, took home Best Rock Album statuettes in 2004 and 2000 respectively. The Foos have collected four Grammys overall, the other two being the "All My Life" single's 2003 Best Hard Rock Performance win, and the "Learn To Fly" video's 2000 Short Form Music Video Grammy.

Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, the Foo Fighters' sixth studio album, was released September 25th to the biggest worldwide fanfare of the Foo Fighters' 12-year-plus career. ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY awarded the record an A, calling it "Perfect" and noting "The band has taken everything it's always done best and brought it to the next level," while the band's U.S. tour was recently announced, including a first ever headline date at New York's Madison Square Garden that sold out in minutes. Elsewhere, Echoes... entered the UK chart at #1 with the biggest first week sales by an international artist in 2007 and the biggest first week sales ever on iTunes UK. More recently, the band announced and instantly sold out a 163,000 capacity two-night stand at Wembley Stadium.
