The almost-original lineup of Van Halen will play Staples Center on Nov. 20. Ticket info will be announced soon.
The 25-date trek begins on Sept. 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and wraps Dec. 11 in the Canadian city of Calgary. Along with Staples Center, key stops include Chicago (Oct. 16, 18) and New York City (Nov. 13).
It won't be a reunion of the classic lineup because founding bassist Michael Anthony has been replaced by lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen's 16-year-old son, Wolfgang.
David Lee Roth and Van Halen were supposed to hit the road earlier this year for a reunion tour, but plans fell through when Eddie Van Halen entered rehab in March for alcoholism. Roth, now 52, quit Van Halen in 1985.
PR-Inside.com has the scoop:
EDDIE VAN HALEN is revelling in his reunion with original VAN HALEN frontman DAVID LEE ROTH, describing their recent rehearsals as "pure magic".
Roth will take to the stage with founding band members Eddie and ALEX VAN HALEN, as well as Eddie's bassist son WOLFGANG, when the group hits the road later this year.
It will be the first time Roth has performed live with Van Halen since 1984 he quit the group in 1985 and was later replaced by SAMMY HAGAR.
But Eddie Van Halen is convinced time has healed old rifts, insisting no-one else can sing the group's classic tracks like original frontman Roth.
He tells MTV, "Playing these timeless hits only works with Dave. After one rehearsal, it was pure magic.
"I am very excited to get back to the core of what made Van Halen."
Grammy-award winning rapper Common will be among the artists on board to perform at this year's Heineken Red Star Soul concert series.
The event, which kicks off Aug. 15 at Boulevard3 in Los Angeles, will feature various entertainers including Chrisette Michelle, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Raphael Saadiq and Raheem DeVaughn.
In addition to the performers, Heineken Red Star Soul will include appearances from DJs Jazzy Jeff, D-Nice and Cassidy.
The event will also recognize a member of the local music community at each tour stop with the Heineken Independent Achiever award.
The award, which was established in 2006, honors individuals who demonstrate the hustle, integrity and drive necessary to be successful while inspiring others.
Eight Heineken Independent Achiever award recipients will accept their award on-stage during the Heineken Red Star Soul concert in their hometown.
Summer Strummer, the music festival that launched last year at Santa Monica's Bergamot Station, is back for its second edition.
Produced by recording studio Swing House, in conjunction with the Overbey Agency, the all-day festival will be sponsored by STAR 98.7 F.M.
Once again, 40 or so bands will be playing on three stages and the line-up is heavy on the locals. Amongst the confirmed artists are Matt Kearney, Augustana, Deadbolt, Los Creepers and Rockit faves the Tender Box. Summer Strummer takes place on September 2, at Bergamot Station.
General admission tickets are $30 for pre-sale and $40 at the door.
Van Halen is set to announce a 50-date reunion tour with original singer David Lee Roth that will begin in October.
Details will be announced next week.
To celebrate what would have been Elliott Smith’s 38th birthday, Kill Rock Stars is giving away free downloads of “Angel In The Snow” today (Aug. 6).

New Moon, which came out May 8, 2007, was the first KRS release to chart #1 on the Billboard Charts (Indie), their highest debut on Billboard’s Top 200 (coming in at #24), and the longest running KRS release on the Top 200 (six weeks).
The double album contains 24 songs recorded 1994-1997, a prolific time in Smith's career, when he recorded his self-titled album and Either/Or (both also released by Kill Rock Stars).
On Saturday, Sept. 15th at noon, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour's 85-minute theatrical version of his new live concert DVD, “Remember That Night – Live at the Royal Albert Hall," will be shown at the Burbank 16 film complex.
This exclusive, one-time event will also include a one-song performance by Gilmour prior to the concert and end with a special question and answer session – VIA SATELLITE from London.
Tickets for this special one-time only event are on sale now for $12.50 at presenting theatre box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. For a complete list of presenting theatre locations, please visit the website (theatres are subject to change). Fans may submit a question to the official Gilmour website at www.davidgilmour.com. Select questions will be answered by Gilmour during the live Q&A session.
Stevie Wonder comes to the Greek Theatre on Sept. 5 in his first tour in more than a decasde.
The 13-city "A Wonder Summer's Night" tour launches Aug. 23 at Humphrey's Concerts by the Bay in San Diego, and wraps Sept. 20 at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston. The trek will also visit Harvey's Lake Tahoe Amphitheatre (Aug. 25); the Concord Pavilion (Aug. 26); and the Santa Barbara Bowl (Aug. 28).
Tickets for the shows will be available beginning Aug. 11.
Yay!! Nick Lowe will slip into town for an Oct. 2 at Safari Sam's. It's part of his first U.S.tour since 2004.
Lowe's new album 'At My Age' (Yep Roc), which hits the sweet spot where country and soul meet, has proved his swiftest seller of the SoundScan era.
