Cypress Hill Smokeout festival Friday

| | Comments (0)

The Cypress Hill Smokeout festival Friday was generally entertaining but there were a couple of just average performances.

The Geto Boys performed the Steve Miller Band version of "Gangster of Love" but Scarface did not show up at the venue. Willie D blamed the "authorities" but did not give specifics. The group's biggest response came for "Mind Playing Tricks on Me."

Cypress Hill's "Black Sunday" set was tremendous with high energy from all the members and a screen in the background that had images from the album or parts of movies playing on it.

The Goodie Mob were also great live but the fans interest in the group seemed to fall-off toward the end of the set. And yes, Cee-lo performed "Crazy" (which is NOT a Goodie Mob song) but I was more interested in "Soul Food" and "Cell Therapy."

It was also nice to see Del live with the Hieroglyphics as he performed "Clint Eastwood" from the Gorillaz album and freestyled for the audience while the other individual members like Casual performed hits like "That's When Ya Lost."
