Coachella 2013: The Postal Service could use louder microphone but still delivers the musical goods

INDIO – Los Angeles based The Postal Service delivered musically with its brand of electronic and indie pop sounds but microphone issues made the group hard to hear at times.

Group member Ben Gibbard, also of Death Cab for Cutie, could not be heard over audience members at various times during The Postal Service’s 50 minute set but the act’s distinct instrumentals came through loud and clear.

When Gibbard could be heard, he along with Jenny Lewis (of Rilo Kiley) were excellent on songs like “Sleeping In,” “Turn Around,” “Nothing Better” and “This Place Is a Prison.”

Additionally, a large amount of people watched the group at the main Coachella stage Saturday at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival after what looked to be a much smaller audience initially.

The set ender looked to be “Such Great Heights,” the group’s influential 2003 hit which paved the way for Owl City’s 2010 hit “Fireflies,” but instead was “Brand New Colony” with the ending lyrics from Gibbard and Lewis of “Everything Will Change.”
