JOE STEVENS: Gone fishing and offseason business
Well, it's officially the dead period in the NBA, unless you're watching the Mavs and Heat. Officially, no negotiating is allowed now, but that seems to be impossible to truly happen. Negotiating between teams and free agents is supposed to start on July 1.
Anyway, the Clippers have four big orders of business they'd like to take care of this offseason, and in order of importance, according to me, they are: 1) Re-sign Sam Cassell, 2) Give Mike Dunleavy a contract extension, 3) Re-sign Vladimir Radmanovic, and 4) Give Chris Kaman a contract extension.
They absolutely need to keep Kaman, but they also could do that next summer. So that's why that move is fourth in these ``power rankings.'' Re-signing Kaman and Shaun Livingston will definitely test the purse strings of Donald Sterling. However, he himself probably won't be able to justify letting one of those guys walk, but who knows?
Wondering how many die-hards are out there still reading THE BLOG, and wondering what y'all think the Clippers need to do to improve.
Don't like fishing too much by the way. It's a little boring for me, although I do have a respect for nature.

i think they should let Sam go because Shaun will be coming into his own next season and they should concentrate on resigning Radmanovic.

I am reading it, and I hope it continues over the off season. I agree with the priorities, 1-2 for sure.
I disagree with Alpe. Sam gave the team the swaggar.
Radmanovic? Someone will overpay because of his shooting and defensively he is a liability. He is a tweener in a bad sense. Cannot guard big guys (too weak) or little guys (too slow). Suns series shows the Clippers need defense more than offense.
