The Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance invites nature lovers, bird watchers and those who are interested in the differing ecosystems along the Los Angeles River to join a monthly river walk hosted by Friends of the Los Angeles River .

This month's walk will be  Sunday, June 19, from 4:30 p.m -- 6 p.m. and explore the Willow Estuary area. Walkers can enter from DeForest Avenue and 25th Street just south of Willow Street.

The area is notable as the place where fresh water and ocean tide meet, making it a popular site to see egrets, herons, gulls and shorebirds that feed off the plentiful supply of small fish. The walks last for an hour and a half and are led by a FoLAR staff or board member who can answer questions. Each month on the third Sunday a new section of the river is explored. A $10 donation is suggested for nonmembers. Additional information is available on the Friends of the Los Angeles River Web site.
