Residents are invited to usher in the Wrigley Community Garden Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 1950-1960 Henderson Avenue with a ribbon cutting, plant and bake sale.
Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews will unveil the project that is a collaboration between the district office, Wrigley is Going Green and the Wrigley Association.
The community garden is located on two lots that had been plagued with criminal activity. The land has been leased for two years and offers residents a chance to learn and hone gardening skills. Plots in the garden are available to Long Beach residents on a first come, first served with a sliding scale starting at only $20 per year for Henderson Avenue residents.
Information is by calling the garden director Sasha Kanno at 562-230-7207 or sasha@wrigleygarden.org.
