The community is invited to come out to Town Hall meeting and discussion on the proposed ban of plastic bags in local supermarkets.
The event is Saturday, Jan.29 at 10 a.m. at the Water Treatment Plant, 2950 Redondo Ave. and being presented by Fifth District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske.
Panelists include representatives from Heal the Bay, the California Grocers Association, the American Chemist Council and the Sierra Club. Participants will address the effect of plastic bags on the environment, issues and concerns with the prohibition of plastic bags, and a discussion of viable options for Long Beach.
