Documentaries return to library

John Malveaux, who helped bring award-winning documentary films to Long Beach, sends the following announcement about the first installment in the upcoming season of films which are held on the last Tuesdays of the month:

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 at 6pm
Long Beach Main Library - Library Auditorium

Long Beach ITVS Community Cinema 2011/2012 Season.  This series of free film screenings from PBS's Independent Lens will return to Long Beach this fall. Each film is followed by a panel and community discussion and Q&A.

PEACE UNVEILED

When the U.S. troop surge was announced in late 2009, women in Afghanistan knew that the ground was being laid for peace talks with the Taliban. Peace Unveiled follows three women in Afghanistan who are risking their lives to make sure that women have a seat at the negotiating table.
