Ivy Goolsby of Long Beach is one of two new board members named to the Board of Trustees for the Goodwill of Southern Los Angeles County. Also named was Dan Bonawitz of San Pedro.

 According to the Goodwill:

"Goolsby was born and raised in Long Beach and is very involved and well connected in the community. She is extremely devoted to her family which includes her husband, 2 daughters, stepson, 5 grandchildren and 6 godchildren.

She was the first African American President of the Long Beach area Chamber of Commerce Women's Council 2005-2006. Under her leadership and guidance the organization made history in numerous ways including raising more money for scholarships in the history of the organization ($24,000.00) and awarding more scholarships to students than in the history of the organization (over $21,500.00).  She also established a fund for Women Transitioning from Shelter to Workforce and as a first step awarded grants to women in this category. She is also a member of The Zonta Club of Long Beach and a Board Member of St Mary's Medical Center Foundation.

Dan Bonawitz resides in the south Los Angeles County community of San Pedro.  He is retired after 25 years of executive level experience in the automotive industry, the most recent with American Honda Motor Company, Inc.  His community involvement includes serving on the Board of Trustees for Pittsburg State University in Kansas, the Home Healthcare and Hospice Board for Torrance Memorial Hospital, and the Board of Directors for both Flexcar and Fuelmaker.

Because of the working background, community activities, and their experience serving on boards, these two fine leaders will bring great support, knowledge and resource to the Goodwill SOLAC Board.

Goodwill serves the people of southern Los Angeles County as a community resource providing training and employment placement services to individuals with barriers to employment. Last year, Goodwill provided services for more than 4,300 people, trained more than 1,200 and placed 151 people in competitive employment.
