The Long Beach Democratic Club is inviting activists and residents to rally Thursday as part of the AFL-CIO's "America Want's to Work" National Week of Action.
The gathering Thursday, Oct. 13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lone Sailor Navy Memorial sculpture in Bluff Park at the 3100 Block of E. Ocean Blvd., is in support of the American Jobs Act, expected to come before Congress this month.
Among those attending will be Long Beach City Councilmembers Steven Neal and Gerrie Schipske.
According to supporters of the bill, it will create "initiatives and benefits for working-
class Americans such as the "Returning Heroes" tax credit for Veterans,
tax cuts to help small businesses hire and grow and investments in
rebuilding and modernizing America"
