Residents are invited to join two-time Daytime Emmy award winning actress Michelle Stafford and actress Stacy Haiduk at a beach cleanup Saturday, Nov,.5 at Alamitos Beach from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is being organized by Los Angeles-based chapter of The Earth Organization (TEO), an international non-profit conservation and environmental group headquartered in South Africa.
Organizers expect about 150 volunteers to come out for the event which they hope to use to spotlight ocean conservancy and the need for non-toxic cleanup solutions worldwide, particularly in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on the Gulf of Mexico, according to Barbara Wiseman, president of The Earth Organization.
Alamitos Beach was chosen last year as part of the Adopt a Beach Program facilitated by the City of Long Beach, California Coastal Commission and El Dorado Nature Center.Information is available by calling 323-908-0700; or online at
