Cajon High teacher jailed following student sex allegations
SAN BERNARDINO -- A Cajon High School science teacher has been arrested on suspicion of giving lewd materials to one of his former students and sexually harassing the child, school district officials said.
Luis Gonzalo Torner, 25, was arrested Sunday in Redlands and booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, according to booking records.
"Due to the seriousness of the allegations, he has been placed on (paid) administrative leave," said San Bernardino City Unified School District spokeswoman Linda Bardere.
San Bernardino City Unified School District police began investigating the case Friday after someone made allegations against the teacher, Bardere said.
Police came to Redlands about 11:30 a.m. Sunday and arrested him on suspicion of distributing lewd materials to a minor, contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex act; and annoying and molesting a minor.
District officials withheld most information about the victim, including the gender and age, but did say the victim was a student in Torner's biology class during the 2007 to 2008 school year.
Torner harassed the student after the school year ended, Bardere said. The victim, who is still under 18-years-old, is attending a different school in the district this year.
Well. This is going to be an interesting story.
For a couple of months now, San Bernardino has been embroiled in another sex scandal concerning the Operation Phoenix program.
Some called for the immediate cessation of opeartions and others rebuked the notion as an extreme response. What is interesting is that there was a direct argument made on behalf of the Op Phoenix program by suppoters who rhetorically asked if a public school should be shut down due to allegations of sexual molestation on the part of a teacher.
Well...now we have the rebuttal in living colour (unfortunately).

i just got married this year something i never though i was going to be able to do. whillingly tie my self to another person. He missed my wedding the day he got arrested. i was sad to not see him there because if it wasnt for Mr. Torner i wouldnt be standing there that day with so much confidence. i was a troubled student when i entered his class, a bad expirience had disconnected me from the world and things for me where just spiralling out of control. one day he asked to speek to me i was reluctant but i did anyways. he was sincerely troubled i could see that so for the first time i spoke about what was wrong. he urged me to talk to a counciler which i did and then as any good teacher devoted to his students asked how my grades where he helped me create a study guide that would help me in all my classes sophmore year i had A's and B's junior year all A's but senior year i began spiraling again but Mr.T who had recomended me for a T.A possition for another teacher found out and told me sommething that helped me get back on track he told me that "me failing in life would just give satisfaction to the person who had harmed me so much that i was a strong individual who had so much to offer to others, i couldnt keep letting this person keep me from being a functioning member of society. he said what happend to me was very unfortunate it hurt him that things like that happend in this world" for the first time i felt someone feel pain like i felt and it was like waking up i graduated with all A's and since then i can say i have truely known what it is to live. i can honostly say that i can be a member of society,a wife, and some day even a mom thanks to all of his support. to hear him be slandered and called word more deserving for true criminals hurts not just me but all the people who knew who Mr. Torner if you dont then let this be a small glimps at who he is to thoes who love him...
