ADELANTO -- A two-alarm fire at Dawn Street and Ivy Court displaced eight people and did a combined $85,000 in damage to two homes.

The fire, which started at 5:38 p.m. today, did $75,000 in damage to one home - mainly the garage - before doing $10,000 in damage to the exterior and garage of the other.

"It had moved from one to another," said San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Daniel Elliott.

No one was injured because of the fire, but it took until 6:20 p.m. to get under control.

The Red Cross' High Desert chapter was providing assistance to the displaced people, Elliott said.

He said both homes are salvageable.
