SAN BERNARDINO - Two firefighters were injured Monday while battling a blaze in a vacant house.

The 6:54 p.m. fire was reported in the 100 block of East 11th Street at a two-story home that was heavily involved when more than two dozen firefighters arrived.

Firefighters had difficulty dousing the flames because the inside of the home had been subdivided up into three separate living quarters, said San Bernardino City Fire Engineer Kenny Yellen.

It took about 40 minutes to knock down the blaze, which is estimated to cost about $122,000 in damage.

The firefighters injuries were unknown but were not considered serious.
