A 48-year-old man who was stabbed in the chest by his wife late Thursday escaped by climbing out a bedroom window, authorities said.

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 11400 block of La Jolla Court around 3:30 p.m. and found the victim, who sought help at a neighbor's house.

Apparently the couple got into an argument and Marcia Brown, 50, picked up a knife and stabbed her husband, according to a sheriff's news release.

The victim was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
Brown was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse and assault with a deadly weapon. She was booked at the Victor Valley jail but was released after posting bail.
