Armed robbers hit two Redlands fast food restaurants
A group of men who tried to rob Wendy's employees this morning may have also robbed a McDonald's restaurant several hours later, police officials said.
Police say several employees were exiting Wendy's in the 1900 block of West Redlands Boulevard at 1 a.m. when three men approached them. One of the men was armed with a revolver. The robbers tried to force employees back into the restaurant, but took off when a vehicle drove into the parking lot.
About 4:30 a.m., robbers with the same description followed an unsuspecting McDonald's employee through the unlocked back door of the restaurant in the 1600 block of West Redlands Boulevard. The robbers held employees at gunpoint, took cash from the safe and registers and then fled east through the parking lot.
Police are investigating the possibility that the robberies may be connected to other recent holdups in Redlands, San Bernardino and as far away as Rosemead.
Anyone with information may call Detective Frank Rocha, (909) 798-7659 or police dispatch at (909) 798-7681.
