A man was carjacked at gunpoint in an apartment complex parking lot Tuesday evening.

The victim called San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies at 7:16 p.m., saying he had been carjacked in the 25900 block of Base Line Road.

He told deputies a man approached him and asked about the custom wheels on his Chevy Tahoe. After a short conversation, the suspected carjacker pulled out a handgun, demanded the victim's keys, as well as his money and jewelry, sheriff's officials said.

The man drove away in the vehicle.

Police said they are seeking a Latino man in his late teens or early 20s, 5-feet-10 inches tall and 190 pounds. He has black hair and a mustache and wore a black muscle shirt and blue pants. The stolen vehicle is a gray 2002 Chevy Tahoe with 22-inch chrome rims and tinted windows. The license plate number is 4YFW579.

Witnesses or anyone else with information may call either Deputy Pete Gentry or Sgt. James Williams, (909) 425-9793.
