Area council filing starts Monday

Possible candidates for Claremont, La Verne and San Dimas council positions can file for the March 3 general municipal election starting Monday.

La Verne's mayoral position will be open. Longtime incumbentayor Jon Blickenstaff recently announced he will not seek re-election.

Councilwoman Donna Nasmyth's and Councilman Don Kendrick's seats are also up for re-election.

For nomination packets, head to City Hall at 3660 D St. in La Verne, or contact the city clerk at (909) 596-8726.

In Claremont, two council positions are open that are now held by Mayor Ellen Taylor and Mayor Pro Tem Corey Calaycay.

Nomination packets for Claremont are available through the City Clerk's Office, which is located in City Hall at 207 Harvard Ave. and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Call (909) 399-5460 for more information.

In San Dimas, the position of mayor, held by Curtis W. Morris, is up for election. Also open are the two council seats now held by Jeff Templeman and Denis Bertone.

Those interested in becoming candidates can pick up packets in the office of the city clerk at 245 E. Bonita Ave. For information, contact (909) 394-6216.

The last day to file nomination papers for all cities is Dec. 5. If an incumbent does not file nomination papers by that deadline, the period to filed for any qualified person other than the incumbent is extended to 5 p.m. Dec. 10.
