Man robs ice cream shop in Chino

A robber escaped with cash after robbing a Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop Wednesday evening.

Chino police responded to a robbery call at 5:45 p.m. from the business located at 12192 Central Ave., according to police Lt. Al Cheatham.

The clerk reported the suspect walked in,  claimed to have a gun and demanded cash. He ran south through the parking lot of the shopping center after the robbery. The clerk chased him for a short distance, Cheatham said.

The robber then got into a black, Ford Expedition and left the area. The Expedition had paper dealer plates.

The suspect was described as a Black man in his 20s, 6 foot 1 inch tall, 190 pounds, last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with red lettering.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Chino Police Department at (909) 628-1234.
